Paladines ideológicos con resonancia internacional: La prensa española y portuguesa ante el viaje de Franco a Portugal
Get PDFGeneral Franco has only done one state visit abroad: he visited Salazar’s Portugal in October 1949 with the objective of ending his international isolation. This work assesses the media coverage of this visit by four newspapers: ABC, Arriba, Diário de Notícias and Diário da Manhã. Both the Portuguese and Spanish press were subject to censorship and have contributed to main objective of this visit. In this work, these newspapers are compared, and a quantitative and qualitative analysis is provided. We have concluded a homogeneity of their narratives and of the supported leitmotiv. The Portuguese press has provided a more extensive coverage, and the oficial newspapers are presented as press for ideological combat.El trabajo analiza la cobertura mediática realizada por ABC, Arriba, Diário de Notícias y Diário da Manhã del único viaje de Estado del general Franco al extranjero. Se desplazó al Portugal de Salazar en octubre de 1949 con la pretensión de mejorar su imagen y romper el aislamiento internacional. Prensa española y portuguesa, sometidas ambas a censura previa, contribuyeron al logro de este objetivo. La puesta en marcha de un análisis cuantitativo, cualitativo y comparativo ha permitido contrastar el comportamiento de estos diarios en función de su ámbito geográfico y del modelo de prensa privada u oficial que representan. Se ha comprobado la homogeneidad de sus discursos y de los leit motiv defendidos; la mayor cobertura que brindaron las cabeceras portuguesas y el papel de los diarios oficiales como auténtica prensa de combate ideológico
La representación de la enfermedad mental en la prensa escrita
Get PDFObjective. Improve the focus on a dignified treatment for people with mental health problems provided by the community and the media. Material and methods. Two local morning newspapers from the most important newsgroups in Monterrey, Mexico, were selected. Experts judgments were used to estimate the presence of erroneous and stigmatizing information and labels in 2,160 information units published between August and November 2015 that included terms related to chronic mental illness. Results. An attempt is made to handle the information responsibly and without sensationalism, especially when the news objective is to talk about mental illness; however, 48% of the notes reflect labels, stigma or misinformation. Conclusions. It is necessary to increase collaboration between mental health professionals and media, in order to improve the quality and accuracy of the information that is published.Objetivo. Incidir en el trato digno hacia las personas con problemas de salud mental por parte de la comunidad y de los medios de comunicación. Material y métodos. Se seleccionaron dos periódicos matutinos locales de los más importantes grupos informativos de Monterrey, México. Se realizó un juicio de expertos para determinar la presencia de información errónea y estigmatizante y etiquetas en 2,160 unidades informativas publicadas entre agosto y noviembre del 2015 que incluían términos relacionados con enfermedad mental crónica. Resultados. Se aprecia un intento de manejar responsablemente y sin sensacionalismo la información, sobre todo cuando el objetivo de la noticia es hablar sobre la enfermedad mental; sin embargo, un 48% de las notas reflejan etiquetas, estigma o información errónea. Conclusiones. Es necesario incrementar la colaboración entre profesionales de la salud mental y los medios, con el fin de mejorar la calidad y exactitud de la información que se publica
