Data Driven High Quantum Yield Halide Perovskite Phosphors Design and Fabrication
Abstract: The outstanding emission of halide perovskites make them ideal candidates for white emission lightemitting diodes (LEDs) for lighting applications. However, many perovskites contain toxic or scarce elements and have unsatisfactory stability. Here, we report a target-driven approach, based on active learning (AL) techniques, to discover halide perovskites suitable for commercial LED applications. Based on the similarity between halide and oxide perovskites, a model trained on an oxide perovskite dataset plus six AL-selected halide perovskites exhibited excellent performance for photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) predictions of oxide and halide perovskites. The model proposed a strong relationship between ionic radii and PLQY, postulated to be due to the self-trap excitons derived from the Jahn-Teller deformation. A novel halide perovskite phosphor, Cs4Zn(Bi0.85Sb0.15)2Cl12:0.01Mn, was designed and synthesized with the aid of the model. It exhibited an 88 % PLQY and outstanding thermal and luminescent stability. A simple white LED was fabricated from this material, exemplifying its commercial potential. This study demonstrates how machine learning techniques can accelerate discovery of next-generation phosphors for high performance single emitter-based white-light emitting devices. </p
A deterministic model for homologous antibody dependant enhancement on influenza infection
Antibody dependant enhancement refers that viral infectivity was unexpectedly enhanced at low antibody concentration compared to when antibodies were absent, such as Dengue, Zika and influenza virus. To mathematically describe switch from enhancement to neutralisation with increase of antibody concentration, one hyperbolic tangent variant is used as switching function in existed models. However, switching function with hyperbolic tangent contains four parameters, and does not always increase with antibody concentration. To address this problem, we proposed a monotonically increasing Logistical function variant as switching function, which only contains position parameter and magnitude parameter. Analysing influenza viral titre estimated from 21 focus reduction assay (FRA) datasets from neutralisation group (viral titre lower than negative control on all serial dilutions) and 20 FRA dataset from enhancement group (viral titre higher than negative control on high serial dilution), switching function with Logistic function performs better than existed model independent of both groups and exhibited different behaviour/character; specifically, magnitude parameter estimated from enhancement group is lower, but position parameter estimated from enhancement group is higher. A lower magnitude parameter refers that enhancement group more rapidly switches from enhancement to neutralisation with increase of antibody concentration, and a higher position parameter indicates that enhancement group provides a larger antibody concentration interval corresponding to enhancement. Integrating estimated neutralisation kinetics with viral replication, we demonstrated that antibody-induced bistable influenza kinetics exist independent of both groups. However, comparing with neutralisation group, enhancement group provides higher threshold value of antibody concentration corresponding to influenza infectivity. This explains the observed phenomenon that antibody dependent enhancement enhances susceptibility, severity, and mortality to influenza infection. On population level, antibody dependant enhancement can promote H1N1 and H3N2 influenza virus cooperate to sustain long-term circulation on human populations according to antigenic seniority theory.</p
Reliability and agreement of manual and automated morphological radiographic hip measurements
Objective: To determine the reliability and agreement of manual and automated morphological measurements, and agreement in morphological diagnoses. Methods: Thirty pelvic radiographs were randomly selected from the World COACH consortium. Manual and automated measurements of acetabular depth-width ratio (ADR), modified acetabular index (mAI), alpha angle (AA), Wiberg center edge angle (WCEA), lateral center edge angle (LCEA), extrusion index (EI), neck-shaft angle (NSA), and triangular index ratio (TIR) were performed. Bland-Altman plots and intraclass correlation coefficients (ICCs) were used to test reliability. Agreement in diagnosing acetabular dysplasia, pincer and cam morphology by manual and automated measurements was assessed using percentage agreement. Visualizations of all measurements were scored by a radiologist. Results: The Bland-Altman plots showed no to small mean differences between automated and manual measurements for all measurements except for ADR. Intraobserver ICCs of manual measurements ranged from 0.26 (95%-CI 0–0.57) for TIR to 0.95 (95%-CI 0.87–0.98) for LCEA. Interobserver ICCs of manual measurements ranged from 0.43 (95%-CI 0.10–0.68) for AA to 0.95 (95%-CI 0.86–0.98) for LCEA. Intermethod ICCs ranged from 0.46 (95%-CI 0.12–0.70) for AA to 0.89 (95%-CI 0.78–0.94) for LCEA. Radiographic diagnostic agreement ranged from 47% to 100% for the manual observers and 63%–96% for the automated method as assessed by the radiologist. Conclusion: The automated algorithm performed equally well compared to manual measurement by trained observers, attesting to its reliability and efficiency in rapidly computing morphological measurements. This validated method can aid clinical practice and accelerate hip osteoarthritis research
The development and validation of a disordered eating screening tool for current and former athletes: the Athletic Disordered Eating (ADE) screening tool
Background: Current and former athletes are one of the most at-risk population groups for disordered eating (DE), impacting their dietary practices, body composition, performance and health during and following their athletic careers. Few comprehensive DE screening tools exist for this group. To help address this, the current study utilised a mixed-methods approach of Classic Test Theory (CTT) and Item Response Theory (IRT) to develop and validate a DE screening tool suitable for current and former athletes. Methods: Novel scale development methodologies were used to develop and assess the validity (content, face, cross-cultural, construct), test-retest reliability, internal consistency reliability, factor analysis and Rasch analysis of a new DE scale. Results: A new validated Athletic Disordered Eating (ADE) screening tool was created, with 17 items and four subscales (food control, bingeing, body control, body discontent), with an internal consistency reliability of 0.91,excellent content and construct validity, an Intraclass Correlation Coefficient of 0.97 and excellent Rasch model fit. Conclusions: The ADE screening tool has been dually developed for research purposes and as a clinically applicable screening tool to detect DE in current and former athletes and is suitable for a global use across sporting categories, diverse genders and levels of competition.</p

Employment profiles of autistic people: An 8-year longitudinal study
Autistic adults experience high rates of unemployment, yet research investigating what predicts employment success produces inconsistent results. By utilising longitudinal person-oriented analyses, this study aimed to identify employment trajectories of autistic adults to better understand what may predict stable autistic employment. Participants were 2449 autistic adults (1077 men, 1352 women, 20 non-binary, M = 42.25 years, SD = 14.24), recruited via the Netherlands Autism Register. Latent class analysis utilising employment status across eight annual waves was used to identify longitudinal employment profiles. Fit indices and the interpretability of results indicated a four-class model best fit the data, with profiles reflecting stable unemployment (n = 1189), stable employment (n = 801), early unemployment increasing in probability of employment (n = 183) and high probability of employment reducing across time to low employment (n = 134). Multinominal analyses suggested that compared to the ‘stable unemployment’ group, membership in the ‘stable employment’ profile was predicted by fewer autistic traits, lower age, male gender, higher education and diagnosis age, and fewer co-occurring conditions. Higher education predicted both other profiles, with lower age and fewer co-occurring conditions predicting membership in the increasing employment class. Taken together, findings highlight the utility of person-oriented approaches in understanding the longitudinal challenges autistic adults experience maintaining employment and identifies key areas of support. </p
Effectiveness of NSW health get healthy telephone coaching in adults screened from general practices
Background: The effectiveness of the NSW Health “Get Healthy Information and Coaching Service®”(Get Healthy) to facilitate weight loss on a population scale has been documented, but this was based on self-reported measures. Our study aims to test the effectiveness of the Get Healthy Service on objectively measured weight, BMI, waist circumference, and changes in other health behaviours, including nutrition, physical activity and alcohol intake. Methods: Men and women aged 40–70 years (n = 154) with pre-diabetes (5.7% < HbA1c < 6.5%) were referred from GP Practices to the Get Healthy Service, NSW Health. A subset (n = 98) participated in the “Zinc In Preventing the Progression of pre-Diabetes” (ZIPPeD) trial (ACTRN12618001120268). Results: The self-reported outcomes showed a statistically significant improvement from baseline to 12 months in weight (mean 2.7 kg loss, p < 0.001), BMI (mean 1 unit reduction, p < 0.001), and waist circumference (mean 4.3 cm reduction, p < 0.001). However, in the objectively measured outcomes from ZIPPeD, the differences were more modest, with point estimates of 0.8 kg mean weight loss (p = 0.1), 0.4 unit reduction in BMI (p = 0.03), and 1.8 cm reduction in waist circumference (p = 0.04). Bland-Altman plots indicated that discrepancies were due to a small number of participants who dramatically underestimated their weight or BMI. There were minimal changes in nutrition, physical activity, and alcohol. Conclusions: The potential benefits of Get Healthy should be interpreted with caution as we have shown significant differences between self-reported and objectively measured values. More valid and objective evidence is needed to determine the program’s effectiveness and cost-effectiveness
Organizational Factors Affecting Burnout in Veterinary Nurses: A Systematic Review
ABSTRACT: Situated within an important nexus for many human–animalrelationships is the profession of veterinary nursing, a profession inwhich burnout is an increasing problem, affecting wellbeing andretention and, consequently, animal welfare. Self-care strategies canreduce the effects of burnout in the short term. However,organizational interventions are required to achieve long termchange. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of burnoutin veterinary nurses and identify organizational risk factors, inaccordance with the Areas of Worklife model, that must beaddressed to reduce burnout in this population. Seven databasesand Google Scholar were searched using terms related to“burnout”and“veterinary nurses.”Primary empirical studies published inEnglish that examined organizational factors related to burnout inveterinary nurses were eligible for inclusion. Article screening andselection was completed by two reviewers and quality assessmentwas carried out using two validated quality assessment tools.Twelve articles were identified: nine cross-sectional surveys andthree mixed-methods studies. Available data were insufficient toaccurately determine burnout prevalence, but it appears thatveterinary nurses are at moderate to high risk of developingburnout. Organizational risk factors for burnout in veterinary nurseswere identified in all six Areas of Worklife domains (Workload,Control, Reward, Community, Fairness, and Values). Common riskfactors include high workload, low control and autonomy,underutilization, low remuneration, co-worker incivility, inequitabletreatment, poor work–life balance, and exposure to animalsuffering, euthanasia, and death. Recommended managementstrategies include increased opportunities for skill utilization anddevelopment, workload and task adjustments, and increasedschedule control. However, the extent to which these strategies areeffective in individuals and practicable for organizations remainspoorly understood. Future research should address how these riskfactors impact individuals and organizations to better informorganizational intervention strategies</p
