    “It Was a Reminder of My Own Freedom”: Reflections on the First LGBTQ+ Centered Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy Externship

    This study explores the impact of the first LGBTQ + centered Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFCT) Externship on participating LGBTQ + therapists. Through thematic analysis, this study found that creating a identity-based training fostered a safe and accepting environment where LGBTQ + identifying therapists felt comfortable exploring aspects of their own identities and attachment styles. This safety created a deeper understanding of EFCT which increased therapists' confidence and preparedness to work with relationships using EFCT. Overall, the findings emphasize the importance of identity-centered trainings for LGBTQ + therapists using evidence-based treatments and adds to the literature about the potential for identity centered trainings

    Exploring a Blockchain-Empowered Framework for Enhancing the Distributed Agile Software Development Testing Life Cycle

    Revolutionizing distributed agile software testing, we propose BCTestingPlus, a groundbreaking blockchain-based platform. In the traditional distributed agile software testing lifecycle, software testing has suffered from a lack of trust, traceability, and security in communication and collaboration. Furthermore, developers’ failure to complete unit testing has been a significant bottleneck, causing delays and contributing to project failures. Introducing BCTestingPlus, a transformative blockchain-based architecture engineered to overcome these challenges. This framework integrates blockchain technology to establish an inherently transparent and secure environment for software testing. BCTestingPlus operates on a private Ethereum blockchain network, offering superior control and privacy. By implementing smart contracts on this network, BCTestingPlus ensures secure payment verification and efficient acceptance testing. Crucially, it aligns development and testing teams toward shared objectives and guarantees equitable compensation for their efforts. The experimental results and findings conclusively show that this innovative approach demonstrates that BCTestingPlus significantly enhances transparency, bolsters trust, streamlines coordination, accelerates testing, and secures communication channels for all parties involved in the distributed agile software testing lifecycle. It delivers robust security for both development and testing teams, ultimately transforming the efficiency and reliability of distributed agile software testing

    Relational depth as predictor of mental health outcomes in psychotherapy:random intercept cross-lagged analyses

    BACKGROUND: Relational Depth (RD) in psychotherapy patients has been associated with positive outcomes using qualitative and correlational designs. No research has assessed whether the frequency of RD over the course of therapy can predict outcomes using a more robust longitudinal design in a clinical setting.METHODS: In a UK psychotherapy clinic, 1,086 clients (501 females, 234 males, 347 "prefer not to say," and 4 other) completed the Relational Depth Frequency Scale (RDFS), the Agnew Relationship Measure-5 (ARM-5, therapeutic alliance), the CORE-10 (psychological distress, primary outcome), the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) (depression), and the Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 (GAD-7) (anxiety) at intake and then every four sessions over the course of long-term psychotherapy. Random Intercept Cross-Lagged Panel Models (RI-CLPM) were used to assess the associations between variables within participant.RESULTS: Frequency of RD was a significant predictor of change in depression ( t  = -2.56, p  = .010; r  = -.060 medium effect size), and anxiety symptoms ( t  = -2.081, p  = .037; r  = -.050 medium effect size), but did not predict change in general psychological distress ( t  = -1.545, p  = .122; r  = -.038 small effect size). None of the outcome variables predicted future change in RDFS. The alliance was not a significant predictor of (nor predicted by) change on the three outcome variables. RDFS was a predictor of alliance ( t  = 3.510, p  &lt; .001; r  = .103 medium to large effect size), but the alliance was not a significant predictor of RDFS. CONCLUSION: Experiences of relational depth between psychotherapist and client may be an important determinant of outcomes. Future research should focus on strategies for facilitating RD in psychotherapy.</p

    mmPhysio: Millimetre-Wave Radar for Precise Hop Assessment

    Motion tests for physiotherapy purposes are a cornerstone in a rehabilitation process. For many reasons, clinicians have been manually measuring and tracking movements so far, being subject to inaccuracies and increasing the time spent in those assessments. This paper studies the reliability of a millimetre wave (mmWave) radar to perform motion tracking for accurate hop tests. Once the variables of interest are extracted and the system set up, the results demonstrate that this system’s accuracy allows its use in clinical environments, facilitating the task of tracking motion and extracting the distance covered by the subject when hopping. The radar outputs are compared against a well-known marker-based optical system, showing high agreement and validating the radar’s effectiveness, with a difference of less 8 cm in the single hop test, 10 cm in the triple hop test, and 21 cm in the crossover hop test for 75% of all measurements. Hence, this approach offers a contactless, efficient, and precise alternative for physiotherapy motion assessment

    Effectiveness of digital behaviour change interventions for promoting physical activity in adolescents with overweight and obesity: A systematic review and meta-analysis

    Background: Obesity in adolescence is associated with many adverse health and well-being outcomes. Physical activity plays an important role in the prevention of obesity; however, many adolescents with overweight and obesity are physically inactive. Digital behaviour change interventions (DBCI) are increasingly used to increase physical activity; however, there is insufficient evidence on their use in promoting physical activity among adolescents with overweight and obesity, including its active components. This review aims to evaluate the effectiveness of DBCIs in promoting physical activity among adolescents with overweight and obesity and to identify the behaviour change techniques (BCTs) used in these interventions. Methods: Seven electronic databases were searched for randomized controlled trials and quasi-experimental studies evaluating DBCIs for physical activity promotion in adolescents with overweight and obesity aged 10–19 years. The risk of bias in the included studies was assessed using Cochrane's Risk of Bias tool 2 and ROBINS-I tool. Meta-analyses were performed using random effects models. The BCTs used within the DBCIs were coded using the Behaviour Change Technique taxonomy (v1). Results: Eighteen studies involving 1769 participants were included. DBCIs showed a large, significant positive effect on total physical activity (SMD = 1.61, 95% CI: [0.56, 2.66], p = 0.003), but non-significant effects on moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) (SMD = 0.16, 95% CI: [−0.39, 0.71], p = 0.56) and step count (SMD = −0.10, 95% CI: [−0.52, 0.32], p = 0.65). High heterogeneity was observed in total physical activity and MVPA analyses. The most frequently used BCTs were information about health consequences, goal setting, self-monitoring, feedback on behaviour and social support. Conclusion: DBCIs can effectively promote overall physical activity among adolescents with overweight and obesity, although their impact on MVPA and step count remains unclear. Future research should focus on optimizing BCT combinations and improving long-term engagement while addressing intervention effect variability.
