The pedagogical challenges of teaching theology and mission to students from non-traditional diaspora churches in Britain.
This paper reports the findings of a research project into Ministerial Theology Programmes (MTPs) at three Higher Education institutions in England. These degree-level courses provide practice-oriented theological education for students in positions of leadership in churches outside the mainstream historic denominations. Anecdotal evidence from MTP tutors is that the churches represented are overwhelmingly Charismatic-Pentecostal, and the students differ significantly from those in virtually all other degree courses, being mostly middle-aged and of African or Afro-Caribbean background. The research reported here is the first extensive and systematic investigation into MTP student bodies, their expectations and approaches to learning, and the implications for designing and teaching MTPs
Training Programme Intervention to Encourage Physical Activity for Health in People with Transtibial Amputation, A Feasibility Study

Background: People with transtibial amputation (PTTA) would benefit from increased physical activity levels (PAL) but generic programmes developed to support increased PAL do not address the barriers which PTTA experience. Aim: To evaluate the effect of a 12-week training programme, developed for PTTA, on their PAL. Methods: 10 PTTA participated in a 12-week training programme, which involved one instructor-led supervised group session per week. The programme incorporated balance, flexibility, cardiovascular endurance, strength, and agility, as well as educational elements. Personalised starting level and progression intensity were based on the instructor’s assessment in the first training session. The effect of the intervention on PAL (self-report questionnaire and accelerometer), fitness, walking symmetry, and adverse effects was determined by ANOVA before and after the intervention. Results: There was a significant increase in self-reported time in moderate intensity activity and accelerometer measured step count and time in movement after the programme compared to baseline (P=0.02). Towards Generating Structurally Realistic Models by Generative Adversarial Networks
Abstract—Context. Several activities in model-driven engineering (MDE), like model transformation testing, would requirethe availability of big sets of realistic models. However, thecommunity failed so far in producing large model repositoriesand the lack of freely available industrial models has been raisedas one of the most important problems in MDE. Consequently,MDE researchers have developed various tools and methodsto generate models using different approaches such as graphgrammar, partitioning, and random generation. However, thesetools rarely focus on producing new models considering theirrealism.Contribution. In this work, we utilize generative deep learning, inparticular, Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs), to presentan approach for generating new structurally realistic models.Built atop the Eclipse Modeling Framework, the proposed toolcan produce new artificial models from a metamodel and onebig instance model as inputs. Graph-based metrics have beenused to evaluate the approach. The preliminary statistical resultsillustrate that using GANs can be promising for creating newrealistic models
AI that Matters:A Feminist Approach to the Study of Intelligent Machines
n this chapter, Drage and Frabetti argue that computer code uses data to not only make statements about the world but also bring that world into existence. Drawing on the concept of performativity, arguably gender studies’ best-known export, they explain why we must view artificial intelligence (AI) as performative to understand how it genders and racialises populations even when it appears to be ‘unbiased’ or correctly functioning. In its reading of neural networks, ‘AI that Matters: A Feminist Approach to the Study of Intelligent Machines’ demonstrates that Facial Detection and Recognition Technologies and Automatic Gender Recognition never objectively identify or recognise a person (or their gender), as they claim to do. Instead, drawing on work by Judith Butler and Karen Barad, they merely comment on and annotate a person’s body in accordance with dominant social rules and perspectives. They present this framing as an intervention into misguided attempts to treat discrimination as an error that can be corrected by a better functioning machine
