Confronting recent history: Media in Serbia during Aleksandar Vucic's Ministry of information in the Milosevic Era (1998-1999)
Since the end of the Yugoslav wars of the nineties, Serbia seems to have fallen out of the spotlight in scholarly research. Attempting to counter this, in this article, we tackle the media suppression by the 1998-99 Ministry of Information led by Aleksandar Vucic, nowadays serving as Serbia's President. Repositioning the spotlight from Slobodan Milosevic to Aleksandar Vucic, we confront the numerous attempts of media suppression and censorship in the late nineties
Interactive exploratory soccer data analytics
Spatiotemporal soccer data enables in-depth analysis of a soccer game. However, the amount and the nature of the data makes it challenging for analysts to easily uncover insights from the data. In this article, we introduce an interactive visualization tool that uses novel data mining and machine learning methods to enable coaches and analysts to work on large amounts of data by moving most of the complicated models to the backend and presenting interactive visualization that can be manipulated in real-time. A unique interactive replay and modification feature enables creation of what-if scenarios on existing game data to explore alternative situations, such as a defensive player taking a different position or an offensive player choosing another pass, while making the experience seamless to the users

Corporate governance and firm performance in emerging markets:evidence from Turkey
This is a study of the relationship between context, internal corporate governance and firm performance, looking at the case of Turkey, an exemplar of family capitalism. We found more concentrated ownership, often in the hands of families, led to firms performing better; concentrated ownership means that controlling families bear more of the risks of poor performance. Less predictably, given that the institutional environment is so well attuned to family ownership, we found that mechanisms that accord room for a greater range of voices and interests within and beyond families larger boards and foreign ownership stakes seem to also make for positive performance effects. We also noted that increase in cross ownership did not influence market performance, but was negatively associated with accounting performance. Conversely, we found that a higher proportion of family members on boards had no discernable effect on performance. Our findings provide further insights on the relationship between the type of institutions encountered in many emerging markets, internal corporate governance configurations and firm performance
