Prediction of dropout with observer assessment:preliminary study
Objective: The aim of this study was to examine the Patient-Therapist Interaction Assessment Form (PTIA-F), which was developed to predict psychotherapy dropouts from third session of a psychotherapy process. Method: The PTIA-F was developed by the authors based on the studies which were focused on therapeutic alliance ruptures, prevention of psychotherapy dropouts and the relationship between alliance ruptures and dropouts. The PTIA-F has 42 items and score range is between -15 and + 27. In parallel with the aim of the study 4 clinical psychologist rated dropped out (n = 19,14 female and 5 male, M-Age = 22.68, SDAge = 3.83) and completed psychotherapies' (n = 20,15 female and 5 male, M-Age = 28.08, SDAge = 7.36) third sessions according to the PTIA-F. Results: The dropout and completed process groups were not differentiate in terms of Early Close Relationship Inventory-II and Symptom Checklist; therapeutic alliance rating in 3rd sessions and therapists age. The patients' age was significantly lower in dropout group. Results showed that the PTIA-F has strong interrater reliability (ICC = 0.50-0.71, F(41,123)= 2.02-3.47, p < .01). The t-test result which was conducted to test the PTIA-F between groups, was not statistically significant but there was promising results for the future studies (M-Dropout = 4.26, SDDropout = 5.35; M-Completed = 3.45, SDCompleted = 3.33). Conclusion: Although the PTIA-F has promising results to predict psychotherapy dropouts from early phase of psychotherapy process, further studies examining the psychometric properties of the instrument more comprehensively are needed

Objective: This study was designed to examine the relationship between early maladaptive schemas, parenting styles, psychological symptoms and the need threats in university students. Method: The sample of the study consisted of 133 undergraduate students studying at Hacettepe University. Aforementioned variables were assessed by Young Schema Questionnaire-Short Form 3, The Turkish versions of the Young Parenting Inventory, Symptom Assesment Inventory, Need Threat Scale. Results: A series of regression analyses revealed that perceived paternal Conditional/Success-Oriented parenting style predicted the decrease in self esteem. The Pessimistic/Anxious paternel parenting style predicted the increase in self esteem. Extreme Permissive/Unlimited and Pessimistic/Anxious paternal parenting styles predicted the increase in the need of control. On the other hand paternal Punitive parenting style predicted the decrease in perceived control. Analyzing the relationship between psychological symptoms and self-esteem, results showed that the increase in anxiety score predicted the increase in self esteem and phobic anxiety predicted the decrease in self esteem. Moreover, the decrease in self-esteem predicted by the increase in interpersonal sensitivity. Finally, analyses showed that there is no significant relationship between schema domains and basic need threats. Conclusion: In conclusion, findings pointed out the predictive power of early maladaptive schemas, perceived parentin
The art market in contemporary Turkey : valuation of the artworks and the practice of art collecting
Tezin basılısı İstanbul Şehir Üniversitesi Kütüphanesi'ndedir.his study is an endeavor to understand how the value of artworks is constructed in the present Turkish art market. To this end, it deploys qualitative case study research as a methodological strategy and generates an original data by conducting intensive fieldwork with in-depth interviews that provided a basis for a sociological understanding of the role of both individual and corporate agents situated in this field. The new economic sociology and burgeoning field of valuation studies provide theoretical tools and analytical lenses to explore the underlying mechanism of valuation of symbolic goods and to reveal leitmotif of art collectors. The study also draws upon the insights of a Bourdieu-inspired cultural class approach in analyzing the implications of the practice of art collecting. The thesis scrutinizes the configuration of the art market by tracing the valuation process of artworks through the interplay among market actors. Concomitantly, it finds that individuals and organizations in the art market collectively contribute to the construction of the socio-cultural meaning of the symbolic goods and their qualification. The study also argues that there is a considerable relation between the legitimization of the artworks’ symbolic value and the social positions and dispositions of art collectors. Overall, it contributes to the exploration of the uncharted territory of the Turkish art market by laying special weight on the symbolic value creation process, beyond accounts that reduce the analysis of the functioning of the art market to the mere description of material exchanges in the field.Abstract ....................................................................................................................... iv

Targeted and budgeted influence maximization in social networks under deterministic linear threshold model
Tezin basılısı İstanbul Şehir Üniversitesi Kütüphanesi'ndedir. We define the new Targeted and Budgeted Influence Maximization under Deterministic Linear Threshold Model problem by extending the original influence maximization problem to a targeted version where nodes might carry heterogeneous profit values, and to a budgeted version where nodes might carry heterogeneous costs for becoming seed nodes. As a solution to this problem, we develop a novel and scalable general algorithm which utilizes a set of alternative methods for different operations: TArgeted and BUdgeted Potential Greedy (TABU-PG) algorithm.
TABU-PG works in an iterative and greedy fashion where nodes are compared at each iteration and the best one(s) are chosen as seed. The main idea behind TABU-PG is to invest in potential future gains which are hoped to be materialized at later iterations. Alternativemethodsareprovidedforcalculatingpotentialgain, andforcomparingnodes. Some methods are taken from the literature while others are novel methods introduced by us. In comparing nodes, we propose a hybrid model which considers both gain and efficiency. In calculating potential gains, we propose methods which dynamically assign suitable weights to potential gains based on remaining budget. We also propose a new method which ignores the potential gains which are results of partial influences under a parameterizedratio. Moreover, weequipTABU-PGwithnovelscalabilitymethodswhich reduces runtime by limiting the seed node candidate pool, or by selecting more nodes at each iteration; trading-off between runtime and spread performance. In addition, we suggestnewdatagenerationmethodsforinfluenceweightsonlinks; andthreshold, profit, and cost values for nodes which better mimics the real world dynamics.
Extensive computational experiments with 8 different dataset on 4 real-life networks show that TABU-PG heuristics perform significantly better than benchmark heuristics. Moreover, runtime can be reduced with very limited reduction in final influence spread.Declaration of Authorship ii

Ticari İletişim adı altında ayrı ayrı düzenlenen kavramların ortak tanımı, reklam
olduğu açıkça belirtilmeyen ancak ortalama tüketicinin reklam mesajını
anlayabileceği her türlü iletişimdir.
