Association of SNPs in AMY1A and AMY2A genes with chicken meat quality and clinical–chemical traits in chicken
QTL studies can provide useful information with which to identify positional candidate genes and DNA sequence variations that can be used to develop genetic markers. In particular, the amylase in chicken serum may affect meat quality traits that are associated with improved starch digestion, which can be used as an indicator of the health status of a chicken. In this study, we investigated two amylase genes, AMY1A and AMY2A, because these genes are located in the QTL region affecting serum amylase levels. Association analyses based on a mixed linear model were performed to identify relationships between the SNPs present in these two genes and clinical–chemical and meat quality traits. As a result, we confirmed that these genes were not significantly associated with any clinical–chemical traits, indicating that these two genes are not directly involved in the amylase QTL effect. However, the AMY1A gene is significantly associated with the degree of yellow coloration (b*) in the thigh muscle, and the AMY2A gene is significantly associated with the water–holding capacity (WHC) of breast muscle. With further verifications, these genes could be used to improve the quality of these traits in chickens
Investigating the Origins of Hand Clapping : Through Historical Materials of Western Ancient History

Firstly, whether human hand clapping is instinctive or acquired a posteriori is argued with several examples by infant and primate. Secondly, the relationship between hand clapping and music observed in the archaeological remains of the ancient Near East is surveyed. Thirdly, applause in the documents written in the ancient Greece is examined. In addition to the judgment of the right or wrong for applause by Plato\u27s aesthetics and Epictetus philosophy, the Spartan election with acclamation is surveyed. Fourthly, based on these results, variety and organization of applause in the documents written in the ancient Roman age are discussed. Especially, custom of the applause in the audience with dictator or emperor, applauders in theater or courtroom, Cicero\u27s view on the relationship between eloquence and applause, and the professional applauders with three cheerleading sections organized by Nero are chiefly examined. Finally, the examples of hand clapping described in the Old Testament are surveyed
A Historical Cross-Section of the Visualization of Music by Points, Lines, and Planes : Focused on the German-Speaking World in the 1920s
1.はじめに 2.翻訳としての視覚化 3.考察 4.終わりにThe music theorists called \u22Energetiker\u22 who were active in the German-speaking world in the 1920s used points, lines, and planes in their interpretations and analyses in order to grasp musical works dynamically. Furthermore, in the field of fine arts, the theorists who played an active role in the Bauhaus attempted to interpret their own theory in musical terms. This paper aims to make clear the methodological affinities and differences among Wassily Kandinsky\u27s, Paul Klee\u27s, and Hans Mersmann\u27s approaches and ideas, and examine their ideological connections and background. At the base of their attempts, one can read the desire to make pure the methods in order to create as well as analyze music and fine arts. One of the means to do so is to bring (\u22translate\u22) the vocabulary, parameters and method of the theory of one art into the theory of another, that is, to exchange (\u22translate\u22) the vocabularies and methods of both arts with each other. By doing this, they believed that they could attain methodological purity
