Business Oriented Learn PAd Whitepaper
This paper introduces process oriented learning in form of five scenarios: (a) individual training, (b) organizational evolution, (c) business process support and reflection, (d) process optimization and improvement, (e) citizens transparency. Process oriented learning is introduced whereas (1) the business process defines the curriculum, (2) the knowledge product defines the required knowledge and (3) the knowledge sources identify the available knowledge. The end users are using the knowledge by learning, whereas the responsible decision makers and experts are managing the knowledge and the learning by appropriate learning goals and dashboards. The technological infrastructure using existing legacy applications that are integrated via a Web-based collaboration platform for learning purpose is introduced and some guidelines for the change towards process-oriented learning are highlighted
Automated Service Selection Using Natural Language Processing
Abstract. With the huge number of services that are available online, requirements analysts face a paradox of choice (i.e., choice overload) when they have to select the most suitable service that satisfies a set of customer requirements. Both service descriptions and requirements are often expressed in natural language (NL), and natural language pro- cessing (NLP) tools that can match requirements and service descrip- tions, while filtering out irrelevant options, might alleviate the problem of choice overload faced by analysts. In this paper, we propose a NLP approach based on Knowledge Graphs that automates the process of service selection by ranking the service descriptions depending on their NL similarity with the requirements. To evaluate the approach, we have performed an experiment with 28 customer requirements and 91 service descriptions, previously ranked by a human assessor. We selected the top- 15 services, which were ranked with the proposed approach, and found 53% similar results with respect to top-15 services of the manual ranking. The same task, performed with the traditional cosine similarity ranking, produces only 13% similar results. The outcomes of our experiment are promising, and new insights have also emerged for further improvement of the proposed technique
A Case Modelling Language for Process Variant Management in Case-based Reasoning
Conventional business process management has been very successful for routine work but has deciencies in dealing with the exibility of knowledge workers\u27 work, since the tasks are hard to determine and highly dependent on the current situation. For knowledge workers it is useful to structure the processes just in part as process variants, which can be adapted, modied and even newly created at runtime by them. This paper describes an application of a case-based reasoning approach and introduces a process variant modelling language that supports the manual generation and renement of generalized process variants. This approach is demonstrated in a public administration scenario
Estimation of the Land Surface Albedo changes in the Broader Mediterranean Area, based on 12 years of satellite observations
The Land Surface Albedo (LSA) was estimated in the broader Mediterranean area, on an 8-day basis, for the period 2001-2012. MODIS (Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer) albedo product parameters, at 1 km 1 km spatial resolution, were used. LSA changes during the above study period were also estimated, based on annual average values. Results revealed increasing LSA trends dominating in the Levant region and decreasing inNWAfrica, of the order of 3.3% and 6.6%, respectively, while mixed signs were observed in southern Europe. Three factors that can determine the LSA changes were investigated: land cover changes, rainfall changes and Aerosol Optical Thickness (AOT) spatio-temporal variability. The analysis made clear that land cover and rainfall changes affect LSA at local and regional scales, while the effect of AOT was not important. Land cover changes revealed deforestation hot spots, where LSA was increased by 13%-14%, while an increase in rainfall over many areas in NW Africa appears to have caused a corresponding decrease in LSA by over 5%. These findings highlight the importance of a global and continuous LSA monitoring at both regional and local scales, which is necessary for both climate monitoring and modeling studies
Twitlang(er): interactions modeling language (and interpreter) for Twitter
Online social networks are widespread means to enact interactive collaboration among people by, e.g., planning events, diffusing information, and enabling discussions. Twitter provides one of the most illustrative example of how people can effectively interact without resorting to traditional communication media. For example, the platform has acted as a unique medium for reliable communication in emergency or for organizing cooperative mass actions. This use of Twitter in a cooperative, possibly critical, setting calls for a more precise awareness of the dynamics regulating message spreading. To this aim, we designed?Twitlang, a formal language to model interactions among Twitter accounts. The operational semantics associated to the language allows users to clearly and precisely determine the effects of actions performed by Twitter accounts, such as post, retweet, reply to or delete tweets. The language has been implemented in the form of a?Maude?interpreter,?Twitlanger, which takes a language term as an input and, automatically or interactively, explores the computations arising from the term. By relying on this interpreter, automatic verification of communication properties of Twitter accounts can be carried out via the analysis tools provided by the?Maudeframework

This volume provides an overview of RNA bioinformatics methodologies, including basic strategies to predict secondary and tertiary structures, and novel algorithms based on massive RNA sequencing. Interest in RNA bioinformatics has rapidly increased thanks to the recent high-throughput sequencing technologies allowing scientists to investigate complete transcriptomes at single nucleotide resolution. Adopting advanced computational technics, scientists are now able to conduct more in-depth studies and present them to you in this book. Written in the highly successful Methods of Molecular Biology series format, chapters include introductions to their respective topics, lists of the necessary materials and equipment, step-by-step, readily reproducible bioinformatics protocols, and key tips to avoid known pitfalls.Authoritative and practical, RNA Bioinformatics seeks to aid scientists in the further study of bioinformatics and computational biology of RNA
Insegnare agli studenti sordi. Aspetti cognitivi, linguistici, socioemotivi e scolastici
Insegnare agli studenti sordi.
Imaging in Neurological and Vascular Brain Diseases (PET/CT)
Since the introduction of the first systems in 2001, the field of clinical PET/CT has experienced impressive growth in terms of system design and functionality, supportive software solutions and the availability and range of clinically approved PET tracers. Developments were initially directed towards the creation of solutions for implementation primarily in systemic oncology, rather than in brain studies. Over the intervening years, however, clinical brain PET imaging has benefitted tremendously through the use of available equipment and organisation. The number of clinical brain PET scans at a clinical site might not initially be sufficient to justify the acquisition of a PET/CT scanner, but as a supplementary element in a production line dominated by oncology, brain PET studies can play a very significant role
