Hiding in the Dust: Signatures of Cold and Warm Dark Matter in the Dust Properties of Cosmological Simulations
This thesis studies the how we can use observations of galaxies to determine what type of dark matter permeates the Universe. Using computer simulations of different types of dark matter we showed that, for a similar number of satellite galaxies, large galaxies like the Milky Way have different amounts of interstellar dust for different types of dark matter. This research helps inform astronomers for the observations they can make to constrain dark matter types, and also direct detection experiments by highlighting models that already match well with observations and are worthy of future investigation.</p
Development of Lane-based Capacity Model Considering Weaving at Large Multi-Lane Roundabouts
Navigating large roundabouts can be unpredictable, with multiple lanes influencing traffic flow and safety. This research introduces a lane-based capacity model that captures the real-world impact of driver lane choices and weaving—factors often overlooked in existing models. By analyzing traffic data from ten Malaysian roundabouts, the study enhances capacity prediction accuracy, paving the way for smarter roundabout designs. The findings empower engineers to optimize traffic flow and help policymakers shape regulations, ultimately creating safer, more efficient roads for everyone.</p

How might Internal Family Systems Therapy conceptualise and treat adults with attachment avoidance and attachment anxiety?
This thesis explores how Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy can support adults who find it difficult to form close, secure relationships. By drawing on both IFS and attachment theory, the research offers insights and therapeutic interventions into building healthier connections and improving overall mental health. The findings suggest that IFS Therapy may be a useful approach for therapists working with relationship difficulties, as well as contributing to a deeper understanding of attachment in adult mental health.</p

Misleading and deceptive conduct in financial services with reference to emission reduction commitments: Seeing the wood for the trees
Enforcement action for misleading and deceptive emission reduction statements has so far mostly used s 1041H of the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth). This article argues that s 12DA of the Australian Securities and Investments Commission Act 2001 (Cth) is a better option for private and public enforcement of misleading and deceptive representations about emission reduction commitments of corporations. The main reasons for this view are that: s 12DA is served by s 12BB, which puts an evidentiary burden on the respondent to show that representations about future matters were made on reasonable grounds; and the remedies attached to s 12DA are broader. The adoption of the Australian Law Reform Commission’s recommendations for the simplification of these provisions is supported, with the inclusion of s 12BB in its current form. It is suggested that emission reduction statements made before the commencement of mandated climate-related financial disclosures already benefited from ample scientific guidance of what would be objectively reasonable. There is some evidence that applicants are already making use of scientific guidance in framing their complaints.</p
Navigating the Grey Areas: Self-perception, Social-exchange, and the Link Between Covert Mistreatment and Counterproductive Behaviours
This qualitative study explores how self-concept and leader/coworker social exchanges influence perceptions of covert mistreatment (CM) and lead to counterproductive behaviours (CWB) among South Asian immigrants in Australia. Using attribution, social exchange, and equity theories, findings reveal key mechanisms linking CM to CWB, extending theoretical applications and offering actionable recommendations to mitigate CM in workplaces.</p
The Way Out: Naturalising Art (for a New Mythology)
This thesis addresses art and humanity's joint meaning crisis created by the modern mythology's corruption of linkages between aesthetics, ethics, and logic, propelling humanity towards unsustainability. Reconceiving art as complexity science restores its ontological place in these normative sciences rather than theoretical aesthetics. This is achieved by combining Schelling's system with Peirce's semiotics and Scheler's philosophical anthropology. Reviving art's Principle thus 'naturalises' our habitual attendance toward higher meaning. Driven less by historical exegesis than rethinking art's truth, the thesis invites healthy debate on art's artificial subjectivation in modernity and failure to nurture individuals and society via objective norms and values.</p
The Embrace Project: Exploring and managing burnout in residential aged care employees
Residential aged care staff are at risk of burnout due to unique challenges in their workplaces. Given the ageing population, there is a demand for aged care services and it is therefore important to help reduce burnout in staff members. This thesis outlines the associated factors, experiences and management of burnout. It was found that support, confidence and adaptive coping are associated factors of burnout. Increasing support from supervisors and co-workers, having self-confidence and equipping staff with educational training can assist staff to better manage their burnout.</p
