Open Book sculpture, 2013 /
Title from acquisitions documentation see file, NLA14/314.; Inscriptions: "Gift from Peter Tahourdin, composer. Bramdean, England 1928 to Melbourne 2009"--From plaque on base of sculpture.; The bronze sculpture is of a conductor with baton in his hand and with book "doors" which open and close. Music here is represented as an "open book", inviting each individual to discover music and, by inference, to explore the Library's collections. The conductor is on the podium, bringing the notated score to life through performance. The Mozart "hairstyle" is a tilt at Tahourdin's own elegant, concise and refined musical style that invites further exploration, qualities reminiscent of Mozart whom he greatly admired.; Also available online at: http://nla.gov.au/nla.pic-vn6454969; Bequest of Peter Tahourdin, 2013
