COVID-19 Education Response Mapping Study in Asia: Executive Summary
Get PDFThis document provides a summary of research exploring the systems, policies, and school-level practices that have supported learning continuity in Asia during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. Based on a review of policy documents on COVID-19 responses in Asia and a deep dive analysis of system and school-level responses in the Philippines and the Kyrgyz Republic, the findings from this study provide policymakers and education stakeholders with evidence of promising practices that could be leveraged to support learning recovery and education system resilience. In addition, a policy review was conducted on the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR), which focused on the practices of policymakers that have the potential to support teaching and learning. The study\u27s intent is not to compare and contrast countries\u27 responses but to highlight innovations in the system and school practices and make recommendations based on insights from system leaders and educators

Evaluation of Australia\u27s Investment in Teacher Development in Lao PDR: Summary of the 2019 Baseline Report
Get PDFIn 2019, the Government of Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR) introduced a new primary education curriculum to improve teaching quality and student learning outcomes. The Government’s Education and Sports Sector Development Plan 2021- 25 focuses on improving teacher knowledge and skills as a means to improve student learning outcomes. This report summarises baseline findings just prior to these significant curriculum changes. These changes are supported by the Australian Government through its Basic Education Quality and Access in Laos (BEQUAL) program. The Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) has commissioned a study to investigate how BEQUAL is making a difference to the Government of Lao PDR’s ongoing primary education reforms. This study is part of a multi-year series undertaken by DFAT’s Education Analytics Service to investigate teacher and learning development initiatives in three countries: Lao PDR, Timor-Leste and Vanuatu. Key findings from this study include: the need for intensive action on Lao language literacy; targeted teacher training on the new curriculum, with a special emphasis on second language learners; and deepened engagement with school communities to reduce student absenteeism and improve student readiness for school

Get PDFThis policy brief investigates gender disparities in learning outcomes and the factors contributing to these disparities as identified in large-scale assessment data in Southeast Asia. It additionally provides a set of recommendations aimed at enhancing equitable student learning outcomes while advocating for comprehensive support of gender-based interventions within educational quality initiatives, spanning both systemic and school-level support. The findings presented in this brief are drawn from large-scale assessment (LSA) datasets and secondary analysis of these sources. Modul ini akan bermanfaat bagi kader layanan kesehatan (Posyandu) untuk menyampaikan informasi yang tepat kepada orang tua dan pengasuh anak di komunitas yang ada.
Optimal Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) promotes child survival and growth; it can also optimise the capacity of infants and young children to learn and develop the early skills they need as they transition to formal early years\u27 education. The provision of an adequate and nutritious supply of sustenance is also vital for pregnant and lactating women. There are common myths about maternal and child nutrition that can circulate in the community and this misinformation hinders mothers, infants, and children from accessing the nutrition they need. This module and accompanying activity and evaluation booklet are designed to provide up-to-date information about IYCF for healthcare cadres (Posyandu) and help them convey this knowledge to parents and guardians in their communities.https://research.acer.edu.au/indonesia_pp/1000/thumbnail.jp
