    System-size dependence of the hadronic rescattering effect at energies available at the CERN Large Hadron Collider

    American Physical SocietyThe first measurements of *⁢(892)0 resonance production as a function of charged-particle multiplicity in Xe-Xe collisions at √⁢=5.44 TeV and ⁢ collisions at√=5.02 TeV using the ALICE detector are presented. The resonance is reconstructed at midrapidity (|| < 0.5) using the hadronic decay channel *0 →±⁢∓. Measurements of transverse-momentum integrated yield, mean transverse-momentum, nuclear modification factor of *0, and yield ratios of resonance to stable hadron (*0/) are compared across different collision systems (⁢, -Pb, Xe-Xe, and Pb-Pb) at similar collision energies to investigate how the production of *0 resonances depends on the size of the system formed in these collisions. The hadronic rescattering effect is found to be independent of the size of colliding systems and mainly driven by the produced charged-particle multiplicity, which is a proxy of the volume of produced matter at the chemical freeze-out. In addition, the production yields of *0 in Xe-Xe collisions are utilized to constrain the dependence of the kinetic freeze-out temperature on the system size using the hadron resonance gas–partial chemical equilibrium model

    PEGEM EGITIM VE OGRETIM DERGISIIn this study, it was aimed to adapt the Nature Connectedness Parental Self-Efficacy Scale Nature Connectedness Parental Self-Efficacy Scale into Turkish and to conduct a validity and reliability study. For this purpose, a scale adaptation study was designed using the survey model. In the study, the scale developed by Barnes, Harvey, Holland & Wall (2021) and translated into Turkish as the Nature Connectedness Parental Self-Efficacy Scale was used. The scale consists of four subscales: The scale, whose original form consists of 22 Likert-type items, was applied in England. The study group consisted of 370 volunteer parents. Within the scope of the analysis, exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), descriptive statistics related to scale factor environments, Pearson correlation analysis to determine the relationship between scale factors, and Cronbach Alpha coefficient to determine the reliability level of scale factors were used. As a result of the study, it was determined that the Turkish version of the Commitment to Nature Parental Self-Efficacy Scale is valid and reliable

    LARYNGOSCOPE INVESTIGATIVE OTOLARYNGOLOGYBackground: Adenoid tissue is a first-line host defense secondary lymphoid organ, especially in childhood. The endoplasmic reticulum (ER) is required to maintain balanced cellular activity. With impaired ER functions, protein accumulation occurs, resulting in ER stress, which plays a role in the etiopathogenesis of many diseases. Objective: We aimed to investigate the relationship between ER stress and adenoid tissue disorders, thereby elucidating the mechanisms of immunity-related diseases. Methods: Fifty-four pediatric patients (>3 years old) who underwent adenoidectomy for chronic adenoiditis (CA) or adenoid hypertrophy (AH) were enrolled in this prospective, parallel-group clinical study. Adenoids were divided into two groups (CA or AH) based on their size and evaluated for ER stress pathway and apoptosis pathway markers by Real-time PCR and Western blot analysis. Results: ER stress pathway markers significantly differed between the CA and AH groups. Children with CA had higher ER stress marker levels than the AH group (p < .001 for ATF-4, ATF-6, and GRP78, and p < .05 for EDEM1, CHOP, EIF2AK3, ERNI, and GRP94). Apoptosis pathway marker levels (BAX and BCL-2) were not different between groups. Conclusions: ER stress contributes to the etiopathogenesis of adenoid tissue diseases and the pathogenesis of adenoid tissue disorders, which are part of the immune response. These results may guide the development of new and alternative treatments for immune system disorders

    The Effect Of Brace Use On Balance In Individuals With Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis

    Prosthetics And Orthotics InternationalBackground: Patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) have poorer standing balance compared with their healthy peers. However, the immediate effects of the braces used in the treatment on balance remain uncertain. Objective: To investigate the effect of brace use on balance and weight-bearing symmetry in patients with AIS and to compare the results of different brace designs. Study design:Observational. Methods: A total of 21 patients with AIS aged 10-17 years using 10 Boston and 11 Cheneau braces participated. Immediate balance and weight-bearing symmetries of patients with and without their own braces were evaluated. Balance assessment was performed using the Sensory Organization Test (SOT) on a computerized dynamic posturography device. Weight-bearing symmetry was evaluated on the computerized dynamic posturography device with the knees in full extension, with the knees flexed at 30 degrees, 60 degrees, and 90 degrees. Results:Regardless of its design, it was found that brace use had no effect on immediate balance and weight-bearing symmetry (p > 0.05). Of the patients using a Boston brace, unbraced SOT condition 2, 3, and 5 and composite scores were found to be higher than their braced scores (p < 0.05). Braced SOT condition 3 scores of the patients using a Cheneau brace were higher than those using a Boston brace (p 0.037). Brace use and brace types have no statistical effect on weight-bearing symmetry. Conclusions: It was observed that brace use in patients with AIS has no positive effect on immediate balance and weight-bearing symmetry, and the use of Boston brace negatively affects immediate balance scores and increases visual dependence

    Evaluation Of Transcription Factors And Cytokine Expressions Of T-Cell Subsets In Cd19 Deficiency And Their Possible Relationship With Autoimmune Disease

    APMISCD19 deficiency is a rare, predominantly antibody deficiency, and there are few studies showing that it can be seen in autoimmune diseases. The aim of study was evaluated to transcription factor and cytokine expressions of helper T (Th)-cell subsets in CD19 deficiency and the possible mechanism role of this factor expression in autoimmune disease. Transcription factor and cytokine expressions of Th1, Th2, Th17, and regulatory T (Treg) cells were investigated by real-time polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) method. In the study, in the patient/control comparison, transcription factor and cytokine expressions of Th1 (T-bet, STAT1, and STAT4) were found to be significantly downregulated, but IFN-gamma was significantly upregulated in patients. Th2 factor GATA3, STAT6, IL-4, and IL-5 were significantly downregulated. For Th17, ROR gamma t was downregulated while IL-22 was upregulated. In the heterozygous/control comparison, there was no significant change in gene expressions other than IL-5. T-bet, STAT1, GATA3, IL-4, ROR gamma t, FoxP3, and TGF-beta were significantly downregulated in the patient/heterozygous comparison. It was revealed for the first time that the expression of the transcription factors and cytokines in CD19 deficiency. These findings might be showing the predominance of Th1 factors and suppressed Treg factors which could be related with autoimmunity in CD19 deficiency

    Normal İşiten Genç Bireylerde Yüksek Frekans Saf Ses Eşikleri İle Yüksek Frekans Bekesy Eşiklerinin Karşılaştırılması

    İşitme kaybı erken tanısında yüksek frekans değerlendirmesi büyük önem taşımaktadır. Bu çalışmada, saf ses odyometri ile Bekesy odyometrisinin yüksek frekans değerlendirmedeki etkinlikleri incelenmiştir. Çalışmaya, 18-30 yaş aralığında işitmesi normal 30 yetişkin genç birey dâhil edilmiştir. Katılımcılara sırasıyla immittansmetrik inceleme ve saf ses odyometri değerlendirmeleri yapılmıştır. Saf ses ortalaması ≤ 20 dB HL olan bireylerde yüksek frekans değerlendirmesi, öncelikle saf ses odyometri ardından Bekesy odyometrisi kullanılarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bulguların istatistiksel analizi sonucunda, sağ kulakta 8 ve 12.5 kHz frekans seviyelerinde; sol kulakta ise 10, 12.5 ve 16 kHz frekans seviyelerindeki 5 dB’lik eşik değerleri ile Bekesy sürekli eşik değerleri arasında anlamlı farklılık bulunamamıştır (p>0.05). Ayrıca sağ kulakta 10 ve 12.5 kHz frekans seviyelerinde 5 dB’lik eşik değerleri ile Bekesy kesikli eşik değerleri arasındaki farkın istatistiksel olarak anlamlı olmadığı belirlenmiştir. Sağ ve sol kulaklarda tüm frekans seviyelerindeki Bekesy sürekli ve kesikli eşik değerleri kendi içinde kıyaslandığında ise, (8, 10, 12.5 ve 16 kHz) aralarındaki farkın istatistiksel olarak anlamlı olduğu tespit edilmiştir (p<0.05). Sonuçlar yüksek frekans değerlendirmede saf ses odyometri bulguları ile Bekesy odyometrisi bulgularının örtüştüğünü göstermektedir. Özellikle gürültüye bağlı işitme kaybı, presbiakuzi ve ototoksisite gibi durumlarda; minimal şiddet seviyesindeki farklılıklara duyarlılığı sebebiyle daha spesifik bir ölçüm olanağı sunan Bekesy odyometrisinin, yüksek frekans değerlendirmesinde kullanılabileceği düşünülmektedir

    Measurement of beauty-quark production in pp collisions at √s = 13 TeV via non-prompt D mesons

    Springer Science and Business Media Deutschland GmbHThe pT-diferential production cross sections of non-prompt D0 , D+, and D+ s mesons originating from beauty-hadron decays are measured in proton–proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy √ s = 13 TeV. The measurements are performed at midrapidity, |y| < 0.5, with the data sample collected by ALICE from 2016 to 2018. The results are in agreement with predictions from several perturbative QCD calculations. The fragmentation fraction of beauty quarks to strange mesons divided by the one to non-strange mesons, fs/(fu+ fd), is found to be 0.114 ± 0.016 (stat.) ± 0.006 (syst.) ± 0.003 (BR) ± 0.003 (extrap.). This value is compatible with previous measurements at lower centre-of-mass energies and in diferent collision systems in agreement with the assumption of universality of fragmentation functions. In addition, the dependence of the non-prompt D meson production on the centreof-mass energy is investigated by comparing the results obtained at √ s = 5.02 and 13 TeV, showing a hardening of the non-prompt D-meson pT-diferential production cross section at higher √ s. Finally, the bb production cross section per unit of rapidity at midrapidity is calculated from the non-prompt D0 , D+, D+ s , and Λ + c hadron measurements, obtaining dσ/dy = 75.2 ± 3.2 (stat.) ± 5.2 (syst.) +12.3 −3.2 (extrap.) µb

    The Effects Of Different Myofascial Release Techniques On Pain, Range Of Motion, And Muscle Strength In Athletes With Iliotibial Band Tightness: A Randomized Controlled Study

    Journal Of Sport RehabilitationContext: We designed this study to investigate the effects of 2 myofascial release techniques, Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) and Foam Roller (FR), on pain, joint range of motion, and muscle strength in athletes suffering from iliotibial band (ITB) tightness. Design: A total of 39 male soccer players were enrolled in this randomized controlled trial, aged between 18 and 23 years who were divided into 3 groups: Only Exercise, IASTM, and FR. Methods: All participants performed daily strengthening and stretching exercises, while 1 group added IASTM, and the other added FR to the exercise program. We evaluated ITB tightness with the Ober test and an inclinometer, pressure pain threshold, using an algometer, and we evaluated muscle strength with the Cybex Norm Isokinetic device. Results: We found that all 3 groups exhibited an increase in the Ober inclination angle after the interventions (P .001), but the increase was greater for participants in the IASTM and FR groups, compared with exercise alone. Additionally, both the IASTM and FR groups displayed an increased pressure pain threshold (P .001), whereas there was no change in the control group. Moreover, while all 3 groups experienced an increase in hip muscle strength (P .001), the IASTM and FR groups exhibited a greater increase compared with exercise alone (P .001). Conclusions: Based on these findings, exercise improves pain, range of motion, and muscle strength in athletes with ITB tightness, and IASTM, and FR techniques enhanced exercise effects but did not differ from one another. While our study demonstrated that both IASTM and FR techniques significantly enhance the benefits of exercise for athletes with ITB tightness, further research could delve into the long-term effects of these interventions

    Search for the Chiral Magnetic Effect with charge-dependent azimuthal correlations in Xe–Xe collisions at √NN = 5.44 TeV

    Elsevier B.V.Charge-dependent two- and three-particle correlations measured in Xe–Xe collisions at √NN = 5.44 TeV are presented. Results are obtained for charged particles in the pseudorapidity range || < 0.8 and transverse momentum interval 0.2 ≤ T < 5.0 GeV/ for different collision centralities. The three-particle correlator ≡ ⟨cos( + − 2Ψ2)⟩, calculated for different combinations of charge sign and , is expected to be sensitive to the presence of the Chiral Magnetic Effect (CME). Its magnitude is similar to the one observed in Pb–Pb collisions in contrast to a smaller CME signal in Xe–Xe collisions than in Pb–Pb collisions predicted by Monte Carlo (MC) calculations including a magnetic field induced by the spectator protons. These observations point to a large nonCME contribution to the correlator. Furthermore, the charge dependence of can be described by a blast wave model calculation that incorporates background effects and by the Anomalous Viscous Fluid Dynamics model with values of the CME signal consistent with zero. The Xe–Xe and Pb–Pb results are combined with the expected CME signal dependence on the system size from the MC calculations including a magnetic field to obtain the fraction of CME contribution in , CME. The CME fraction is compatible with zero for the 30% most central events in both systems and then becomes positive. This yields an upper limit of 2% (3%) and 25% (32%) at 95% (99.7%) confidence level for the CME signal contribution to in the 0–70% Xe–Xe and Pb–Pb collisions, respectivel

Even though both procedures are regulated in various laws, this study examines the issue based on Article 4/A of the Law on Police Duties and Powers (PVSK).The procedures of stopping and asking for identity are carried out by law enforcement.Therefore, the study first provides information on the concept of law enforcement and types of law enforcement. Following the information on law enforcement, the stopping process, which constitutes the first pillar of the study, is analyzed. The rights and freedoms related to the procedure, the differences of the procedure from similar procedures, the concept of reasonable cause, the reasons for stopping, and the use of the authority to stop are examined under the subheading of stopping. In the study, the rights and freedoms restricted by the stopping procedure are tried to be revealed and discussions on the subject are included.Following the examination of the stopping process, the other pillar of the study, asking for identity, is examined. Under this heading, the concept of identity and the rights and freedoms related to the process of asking for identity are emphasized. After the views in the doctrine on both procedures are given, the subject is evaluated in terms of judicial decisions.In the last part of the study, the consequences of unlawful stopping and asking for identity and the ways of controlling these procedures are analyzed. The fact that a person complies with the rules of law does not mean that these procedures will not be applied to the person.Therefore, knowing the legal framework of these procedures, which are more likely to be encountered compared to other measures within the scope of criminal law, will be beneficial in terms of doctrine and practice.Durdurma ve kimlik sorma birbirinden farklı işlemler olmakla birlikte mevzuatımıza bakıl- dığında kanun koyucunun farklı bu iki işlemi aynı madde kapsamında düzenleme eğiliminde olduğu görülmektedir. Her iki işlem de çeşitli kanunlarda düzenlenmekle birlikte çalışmada Polis Vazife ve Salahiyetleri Kanunu (PVSK) m. 4/A temel alınarak konu incelenmiştir.Durdurma ve kimlik sorma işlemleri kolluk tarafından icra edilen işlemlerdir. Bu nedenle çalışmada önce kolluk kavramı ve kolluk türleri hakkında bilgi verilmiştir. Kolluğa ilişkin verilen bilgilerin ardından çalışmanın ilk ayağını oluşturan durdurma işlemi incelenmiştir. Durdurma üst başlığı altında işlemin ilişkili olduğu hak ve özgürlükler, işlemin benzer işlemlerden farkları, makul sebep kavramı, durdurma sebepleri ve durdurma yetkisinin kullanılması incelenmiştir.Çalışmada özellikle durdurma işlemi ile kısıtlanan hak ve özgürlükler ortaya konulmaya çalışıl- mış konuya ilişkin tartışmalara yer verilmiştir.Durdurma işleminin incelenmesinin ardından çalışmanın diğer ayağı olan kimlik sorma iş- lemi incelenmiştir. Bu başlık altında kimlik kavramı ile kimlik sorma işlemiyle bağlantılı hak ve özgürlükler üzerinde durulmuştur.Her iki işleme ilişkin doktrindeki görüşlere yer verildikten sonra konu yargı kararları açı- sından da değerlendirilmiştir.Çalışmanın son kısmında hukuka aykırı icra edilen durdurma ve kimlik sorma işlemlerinin sonuçları ve bu işlemleri denetlenme yolları incelenmiştir.Kişinin hukuk kurallarına uyuyor olması, bu işlemlerin kendisi hakkında uygulanmayacağı anlamına gelmemektedir. Bu nedenle ceza hukuku kapsamında yer alan diğer tedbirlere naza- ran karşılaşılma ihtimali daha yüksek olan bu işlemlerin hukuki çerçevesinin bilinmesi öğreti ve uygulama bakımından yararlı olacaktır
