The Effect Of Progressive Muscle Relaxation Exercises On Sleep Quality In Cancer Patients Undergoing Chemotherapy: A Randomized Controlled Study
Seminars In Oncology NursingObjectives: This study aimed to evaluate the effect of progressive muscle relaxation exercises (PMRE) on sleep quality in patients undergoing chemotherapy treatment and experiencing disturbed sleep. Methods: The prospective randomized controlled study was conducted between March and September 2022 with 69 patients (intervention group: 34 patients, control group: 35 patients) in a hospital chemotherapy unit. During the data collection process, the Personal Information Form and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) were utilized. Patients in the intervention group performed PMRE twice a day for 8 weeks. Patients in the control group received routine care at the clinic without additional intervention. For data analysis, Student 's t -test, Mann -Whitney U test, Fisher 's exact test, and chi-square test were used. Results: The sociodemographic attributes of patients within both the intervention and control groups exhibited comparability. However, notable distinctions emerged in the PSQI Global sleep score and PSQI subdimension scores, encompassing sleep latency and duration, subjective sleep quality, habitual sleep efficiency, sleep disturbance, and daytime dysfunction between the two groups. The study found a notable difference in scores between the patients in the intervention group and those in the control group. The patients who received the intervention had significantly lower scores ( P < .001). Conclusion: The study revealed that PMRE was beneficial in improving sleep quality in cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy who had poor sleep quality. Implications for Nursing Practice: Oncology nurses may consider using PMRE to improve the sleep quality of cancer patients receiving chemotherapy
Multiplicity Dependence of Charged-Particle Intra-Jet Properties in pp Collisions at √s 13TeV
Springer NatureThe first measurement of the multiplicity dependence of intra-jet properties of leading charged-particle jets in proton–proton (pp) collisions is reported. The mean charged-particle multiplicity and jet fragmentation distributions are measured in minimum-bias and high-multiplicity pp collisions at center-of-mass energy s 13 TeV using the ALICE detector. Jets are reconstructed from charged particles produced in the midrapidity region (η<0.9) using the sequential recombination anti-kT algorithm with jet resolution parameters R 0.2, 0.3, and 0.4 for the transverse momentum (pT) interval 5–110 GeV/c. The high-multiplicity events are selected by the forward V0 scintillator detectors. The mean charged-particle multiplicity inside the leading jet cone rises monotonically with increasing jet pT in qualitative agreement with previous measurements at lower energies. The distributions of jet fragmentation function variables zch and ξch are measured for different jet-pT intervals. Jet-pT independent fragmentation of leading jets is observed for wider jets except at high- and low-zch values. The observed “hump-backed plateau” structure in the ξch distribution indicates suppression of low-pT particles. In high-multiplicity events, an enhancement of the fragmentation probability of low-zch particles accompanied by a suppression of high-zch particles is observed compared to minimum-bias events. This behavior becomes more prominent for low-pT jets with larger jet radius. The results are compared with predictions of QCD-inspired event generators, PYTHIA8 with Monash 2013 tune and EPOS LHC. It is found that PYTHIA8 qualitatively reproduces the jet modification in high-multiplicity events except at high jet pT. These measurements provide important constraints to models of jet fragmentation. © The Author(s) 2024
Modification of charged-particle jets in event-shape engineered Pb-Pb collisions at √SNN5.02 TeV
ELSEVIER RADARWEG 29, 1043 NX AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDSCharged-particle jet yields have been measured in semicentral Pb-Pb collisions at center-of-mass energy per nucleon-nucleon collision root S-NN 5.02 TeV with the ALICE detector at the LHC. These yields are reported as a function of the jet transverse momentum, and further classified by their angle with respect to the event plane and the event shape, characterized by ellipticity, in an effort to study the path-length dependence of jet quenching. Jets were reconstructed at midrapidity from charged-particle tracks using the anti-k(T) algorithm with resolution parameters R 0.2 and 0.4, with event-plane angle and event-shape values determined using information from forward scintillating detectors. The results presented in this letter show that, in semicentral Pb-Pb collisions, there is no significant difference between jet yields in predominantly isotropic and elliptical events. However, out-of-plane jets are observed to be more suppressed than in-plane jets. Further, this relative suppression is greater for low transverse momentum (< 50 GeV/c) R 0.2 jets produced in elliptical events, with out-of-plane to in-plane jet-yield ratios varying up to 5.2 sigma between different event-shape classes. These results agree with previous studies indicating that jets experience azimuthally anisotropic suppression when traversing the QGP medium, and can provide additional constraints on the path-length dependence of jet energy loss
Prompt And Non-Prompt J/Ψ Production At Midrapidity İn Pb-Pb Collisions At √Snn=5.02 Tev
SPRINGER ONE NEW YORK PLAZA, SUITE 4600, NEW YORK, NY, UNITED STATESThe transverse momentum (p(T)) and centrality dependence of the nuclear modification factor R-AA of prompt and non-prompt J/psi, the latter originating from the weak decays of beauty hadrons, have been measured by the ALICE collaboration in Pb-Pb collisions at root s(NN) 5.02TeV. The measurements are carried out through the e()e(-) decay channel at midrapidity (vertical bar y vertical bar 5 GeV/c, which becomes stronger with increasing collision centrality. The results are consistent with similar LHC measurements in the overlapping pT intervals, and cover the kinematic region down to p(T) 1.5 GeV/c at midrapidity, not accessible by other LHC experiments. The suppression of prompt J/psi in central and semicentral collisions exhibits a decreasing trend towards lower transverse momentum, described within uncertainties by models implementing J/psi production from recombination of c and (c) over bar quarks produced independently in different partonic scatterings. At high transverse momentum, transport models including quarkonium dissociation are able to describe the suppression for prompt J/psi. For non-prompt J/psi, the suppression predicted by models including both collisional and radiative processes for the computation of the beauty-quark energy loss inside the quark-gluon plasma is consistent with measurements within uncertainties
Evaluation Of The Mechanical Behaviour Of The Expandable Wedge Locked Nail Fixation In Retrograde Use: A Finite Element Study
Elsevier LtdIntroduction: In literature, there have been many studies conducted to research the alternatives of standard interlocking intramedullary nailing. The expandable wedge locked nail fixation, which is thought as a new alternative to the standard interlocking nailing, has been presented in previous numerical studies. The antegrade usage of the wedge locked nail fixation has provided promising results. From this point, the aim of the study is to evaluate mechanical behavior of its retrograde usage on femur models. Additionally, another aim of the study is to investigate the effect of fracture level on mechanical properties of the fixation. Materials and methods: The mechanical behaviors of the wedge locked nail and standard interlocking nail fixations were compared by finite element methods. Sawbones femurs having osteotomies at five different levels to simulate different fractures were fixed with wedge locked nail or interlocking nail by using retrograde approach. With respect to the fracture level, two different nail lengths were used. Axial compression load was applied to fixations. The mechanical behaviors of the fixations were evaluated with respect to stiffness of the fixations and stresses occurred on both implants and bones. Results: Any of the wedge locked nail fixation did not slip at canal. The stress and stiffness results were mostly close with each other for both nail types. The maximum stresses at locking elements or bones contacting these elements increased with decreased distance between the fracture and relevant locking elements. Discussion: The wedge locked nail fixation showed comparable results to the standard interlocking nail fixation with respect to the stiffness and stress. Under axial loading, wedge locked nail provided a secured fixation without any slippage and preserved its position inside the medullary canal. It may be thought as a safe alternative to the standard interlocking nail fixation for retrograde usage. Additionally, according to stress results, it is advised to the surgeons to avoid a close locking to the fracture line. © 2024 Elsevier Lt
A Formulation For Efficient Analysis Of Scattering From Truncated Periodic Structures
Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc.This work presents a novel formulation, based on the dipole moment (DM) method and Method of Moments utilizing modified RWG basis to efficiently analyze scattering from truncated periodic structures, where the unit-cell elements of these structures are arbitrarily shaped and are inhomogeneous objects in general. The key point of using the formulation is that the scattered fields are obtained in closed-forms for arbitrarily shaped metallic as well as dielectric objects, which facilitates efficient computation of the MoM matrix in comparison to the conventional approach for matrix generation which utilizes RWG basis functions. Numerical results obtained by using the proposed approach show good agreement with those obtained using a commercial MoM software package. © 2024 IEEE
Comparison Of Multiple Machine Learning Methods For Estimating Digital Elevation Points
Springer NatureNumerous engineering applications need topographic surfaces, and topography should be adequately determined. This study evaluates the estimation accuracy of three different machine learning methods in digital elevation model (DEM). Accurate DEM estimation is vital in water resources engineering, management, and planning. In this study, elevation values (Z) of the Mert River Basin of Samsun were estimated by deep learning (DL), gaussian process regression (GPR), and support vector machine regression(SVMR) from multiple machine learning methods. Estimates were tried with X and Y coordinate information as the input scenario. In addition, root mean square error (RMSE), mean absolute error (MAE), nash–sutcliffe efficiency (NSE), and coefficient of determination (R2) were utilized as comparison criteria. When the results were examined, it was determined that the best estimation method was GPR (R2 0.997), then SVMR (R2 0.975), and the worst modelling was DL (R2 0.972). This result shows that an improved model by machine learning methods can be used in the DEM modelling. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024
Obligation to Conduct an Effective Investigation and Prosecutor's Authority to Evaluate Evidence
When the Criminal Procedure Code and case law are considered, the public prosecutor has to carry out the investigation effectively with the help of judicial law enforcement officers. If the investigation phase is passed efficently, the evidence that has to be obtained in order to reach the material truth will be acquired. In this way, it becomes easier to reach the correct conclusion when the judgment ends. After an effective investigation is carried out, first of all, the prosecutor evaluates the criminal elements in the incident under investigation. After that the public prosecutor must evaluate the available evidence. Having reached sufficient doubt as a result of this evaluation, the public prosecutor, as a rule, file an indictment and submits it to the court. Therefore, the public prosecutor, like the judge, has to evaluate the evidence. Additionally, the prosecutor must evaluate whether there is public interest to file a public criminal case. In our study, examining the effective investigation and the evaluation of the evidence by the prosecutor will be explained. Although it is accepted that the public prosecutor has the authority to evaluate the evidence, according to the characteristics of the criminal case, it is concluded that it is necessary to prepare an indictment for the files, such as the reasons for compliance with the law and the reasons that eliminate culpability, which should be discussed mutually in the court
Enhancing Solar Radiation Forecasting In Diverse Moroccan Climate Zones: A Comparative Study Of Machine Learning Models With Sugeno Integral Aggregation
ATMOSPHEREHourly solar radiation (SR) forecasting is a vital stage in the efficient deployment of solar energy management systems. Single and hybrid machine learning (ML) models have been predominantly applied for precise hourly SR predictions based on the pattern recognition of historical heterogeneous weather data. However, the integration of ML models has not been fully investigated in terms of overcoming irregularities in weather data that may degrade the forecasting accuracy. This study investigated a strategy that highlights interactions that may exist between aggregated prediction values. In the first investigation stage, a comparative analysis was conducted utilizing three different ML models including support vector machine (SVM) regression, long short-term memory (LSTM), and multilayer artificial neural networks (MLANN) to provide insights into their relative strengths and weaknesses for SR forecasting. The comparison showed the proposed LSTM model had the greatest contribution to the overall prediction of six different SR profiles from numerous sites in Morocco. To validate the stability of the proposed LSTM, Taylor diagrams, violin plots, and Kruskal-Wallis (KW) tests were also utilized to determine the robustness of the model's performance. Secondly, the analysis found coupling the models outputs with aggregation techniques can significantly improve the forecasting accuracy. Accordingly, a novel aggerated model that integrates the forecasting outputs of LSTM, SVM, MLANN with Sugeno lambda-measure and Sugeno integral named (SLSM) was proposed. The proposed SLSM provides spatially and temporary interactions of information that are characterized by uncertainty, emphasizing the importance of the aggregation function in mitigating irregularities associated with SR data and achieving an hourly time scale forecasting accuracy with improvement of 11.7 W/m2
