Bu çalışmada 4 ve 6 yaşlarında iki kadın hastaya uyguladığımız artroskopik tedavi sonrası klinik ve radyolojik bulguları ile fizyoterapi ve rehabilitasyon sonuçlarını bildirmek istediObjective: In this study, we wanted to report the clinical and radiological findings of two female patients aged 4 and 6 years, and the results of physiotherapy and rehabilitation after the arthroscopic treatment we performedMethods: Partial meniscectomy was performed in both cases in the supine position under general anesthesia. She was hospitalized for 2 days after surgery. Patients were taken to physiotherapy program after surgery. While our six-year-old patient received 25 sessions of physiotherapy sessions, our 4-year-old patient received 30 sessions of physiotherapy. The physiotherapy program applied to both patients was applied for 12-15 minutes with cold application and 30 minutes of TENS. In order to gain normal joint space, passive stretching exercises at the margin of pain, isometric exercises to increase muscle strength, and then active exercises for lower extremity muscles were performed to increase muscle strength by the physiotherapist. Results: Discoid meniscus cases are rare in early ages. Our cases (4-6 years old) show that promising results are possible with arthroscopic treatment of the torn and dislocated lateral meniscus and the physiotherapy program applied for the symptoms after surger

In this descriptive and correlational study, 222 women in the first 6-8th week after delivery participated. Data collection involved the use of a Personal information form (which were developed by the researchers) , Beck Anxiety Scale, and the Difficulty in Emotion Regulation Scale Short Form. The study found that women who gave birth during the COVID-19 pandemic had an average Beck Anxiety Scale score of 31.2 ± 10.36 and an average Difficulty in Emotion Regulation Scale score of 29.45 ± 12.98. Significant relationships were identified between the participants age and educational levels and their anxiety levels. Furthermore, it was observed that a significant association existed between maternal sleep problems, the fear of contracting COVID-19, and both anxiety levels and difficulties in emotion regulation among women. When examining the relationship between difficulty in emotion regulation scale and beck anxiety scale, a positive, moderate, and significant relationship was evident between the difficulties in emotion regulation and anxiety levels of the participating women (r = 0.619; p = 0.001). The study revealed that women who gave birth during the COVID-19 pandemic experienced severe anxiety, and this period had a significant impact on their anxiety levels and difficulties in emotion regulation. So, it is recommended that health professionals incorporate strategies for coping with anxiety and improving emotional regulation in their training and counseling services
The Impact of Preschool Teachers’ Extratextual Talk Profiles on Children’s Language Development During Interactive Book Reading
This study aimed to investigate the impact of preschool teachers' extratextual talk profiles during interactive book reading on children's language development. A comparative correlational survey method was employed to collect data from six preschool teachers and 54 children in their classrooms. The Systematic Assessment of Book Reading (SABR) and the Test of Language Development-Third Edition (TELD-3) were utilized as data collection tools. Video recordings of teacher-child interactions during the reading of ten different picture storybooks were transcribed and analyzed using the SABR framework, focusing on content and expression forms. Children's receptive, expressive, and overall verbal language scores were assessed using the TELD-3 before and after the interactive book reading sessions. The results of the analyses revealed two distinct teacher profiles: ‘Low Demanding’ and ‘High Demanding’. Teachers characterized by a high extratextual talk profile had a significant positive effect on children’s pre- and post-test receptive (d=0.68), expressive (d=0.65) and overall verbal language (d=0.69) scores at a medium effect size level (p<.05). Conversely, teachers with low extratextual talk profiles did not have a significant effect on children's pre- and post-test receptive and verbal language scores at the p<.05 level but demonstrated a moderate effect on expressive language scores (d=0.64)
An integrated p,q-quasirung orthopair fuzzy decision-making approach for strategic selection of competitive intelligence platforms
In an increasingly globalized world, Competitive Intelligence (CI) plays a vital role for export-oriented businesses aiming to maintain a competitive advantage and identify opportunities in international markets. Accurate, timely, and comprehensive information is essential for understanding market dynamics, evaluating competitors, and analysing customer behaviour. However, selecting reliable commercial intelligence websites presents challenges, such as issues of data quality, pricing, usability, and coverage. This study addresses these challenges by introducing a scientific decision-making framework using a fuzzy Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) approach to handle the uncertainty in the selection process. The research proposes a novel decision-making model based on p,q-Quasirung Orthopair Fuzzy Numbers (p,q-QOFNs), applying p,q-quasirung operators to calculate expert weights. It integrates the Simple Weight Calculation (SIWEC) and Multi-Attributive Border Approximation Area Comparison (MABAC) methods, called “p,q quasirung-SIWEC-MABAC”, to determine criteria weights and rank website alternatives. This model enhances the integration of subjective evaluations, improving both robustness and efficiency in decision-making. A case study validates the model’s practical application in evaluating CI websites, supported by sensitivity and comparative analyses confirming the model’s reliability across diverse scenarios. Findings highlight that data security and reliability are the most critical factors in CI website selection. Among the evaluated platforms, A3 emerges as the top choice due to its detailed
insights into textile import trends and supplier analysis. This research contributes a unique methodology to CI literature by enhancing export decision-making processes through advanced fuzzy logic techniques, ultimately helping businesses navigate the complexities of global trade more effectively
Ancak bireylerin daha önce uyum sağladıkları ortamda değerlendirmeye alınmaları, denge ölçümü amacıyla kullanılan test türlerinin zorluk derecesinin yeterli olmamasının da katkısı ile oluşan farklılığın belirgin olmadığı sonucuna varıldı.ABSTRACTThe aim of this study is to compare balance and lower extremity muscle strength between individuals with congenital and acquired visual impairment. A total of 21 individuals (mean years: 37.52 ± 14.91) with B1 (blind) visual impairment, (10 congenital and 11 acquired), were included in the study. Tinetti Balance & Gait Test and One Leg Standing Test were used to evaluate balance functions, and a digital manual muscle tester was used to evaluate lower extremity muscle strength. There was no significant difference between congenital and acquired visually impaired individuals in terms of balance and lower extremity muscle strength (p> 0.05). Bilateral hip flexion, plantar flexion muscle strength, and one leg standing test values were found to be insignificantly higher in individuals with acquired visual impairment (p> 0.05). Tinetti Balance & Gait Test scores were found to be higher in individuals with congenital visual impairment, which was not statistically significant (p> 0.05). Congenital visual impairment affects muscle strength and static balance negatively compared to acquired visual impairment, but the difference is not significant due to the fact that individuals were evaluated in an environment they have adapted to before and the difficulty level of the test types used for balance measurement is not sufficient
The study aims to analyze the spatial changes in the water surface area of Burdur Lake and to predict the future state of the lake’s surface area by examining long-term climate trends within the Burdur Lake Basin. In this regard, the study area was analyzed using Landsat 4-5 and Landsat 8 satellite images. These images were classified using the Modified Normalized Difference Water Index (mNDWI), Normalized Difference Water Index (NDWI), and Water Index 2015 (WI2015) water indices, and lake surface area data were collected for each year between 1985-2021. According to the study results, Burdur Lake’s water area decreased significantly (81.7-92.3 km²) between 1985 and 2021. Based on linear regression analysis, it is estimated that the lake will dry out between 2070-2080. The WI2015 method can be considered the most successful method with low error values such as MAE (7.0554) and MARE (4.1711) and a high correlation coefficient of 0.9923
Effect of Apelin-13 on Anxiety Like Behaviour in Male Rats
Aim: It is known that apelin-13 is one of the major neuropeptides with a clear and crucial role in the circuits that are involved in mood disorders. In the development and/or maintenance of pathological anxiety, abnormalities of the hippocampus and amygdala play an important role. Here, we assessed the potential anxiolytic effect of apelin-13 on anxiety-like behaviors in male rats. Materials and Methods: A total of 48 male Wistar rats were divided into 4 groups (n=12). Control (C), Social Isolation (SI), Apelin-13 (A), and Social Isolation + Apelin13 (SI+A). In the C and A groups, four animals in each cage for 8 weeks. In the SI and SI+A groups, each animal was housed individually for 8 weeks. After that apelin-13 administration was applied by osmotic pomp. Anxiety/depression-related behaviors were evaluated using the Elevated Plus Maze (EPM), Open Field Test (OFT), and Light-Dark boxes (LDB). We also measured the expression of Apelin-13, Apelin receptor (APJ), Brain Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF), Mammalian Atonal Homolog 1 (MASH1), Nestin, Doublecortin (DCX) and Neuritin in the hippocampus. These are important markers indicating the anxiety mechanism in the hippocampus. Results: The results of our study showed that apelin-13 administration reduced anxiety behaviors. Open arm entires and time spent were higher in the A group. In the open field test, grooming and rearing were lower in the SI group. Moreover, apelin-13 and APJ gene expression was higher in the A group. Conclusion: The results of the study indicate that apelin-13 infusion may lead to a decrease in anxiety-related behaviors in male rats
Neural Correlates of Masking Level Differences: Evidence From Auditory Brainstem Responses
Objective:
This study aimed to investigate the neural correlates of masking level differences (MLD) by examining their relationship with auditory brainstem responses (ABR) in normal-hearing adults, to better elucidate the underlying brainstem mechanisms involved in MLD.
Methods:
A total of 37 normal-hearing adults aged 18–30 years participated. Auditory evaluations included pure-tone audiometry, tympanometry, MLD testing at 500 Hz under S₀N₀ and SπN₀ conditions, and click-evoked ABR recordings. Correlations between ABR wave latencies (Waves I, III, and V) and interpeak intervals (I–III, III–V, and I–V) with MLD scores were analyzed using Spearman's correlation. Multiple linear regression analyses were conducted in two separate models to evaluate the predictive contribution of ABR components to MLD performance.
Results:
The mean MLD was 13.24 ± 2.18 dB, exceeding the clinical threshold for normal performance. No significant gender differences were observed in ABR or MLD measures. A moderate positive correlation was found between ABR Wave V latency and MLD scores (r = 0.58, p < 0.001). In regression analyses, Wave V latency was the only significant predictor of MLD scores (p = 0.003), explaining 28% of the variance. Other ABR components were not significant contributors.
Conclusions:
The results demonstrate that MLD performance is associated with ABR Wave V latency, suggesting that midbrain structures such as the inferior colliculus play a crucial role in binaural auditory processing. These findings support the utility of MLD as a behavioral index of brainstem integrity and its potential role in the evaluation of auditory dysfunction. While further research is needed to confirm these associations in clinical populations, MLD testing may offer valuable diagnostic insights into auditory brainstem dysfunction
Effect of Environmental Lighting on Oculomotor Tests Results: A Cross-Sectional Study
Background: Oculomotor tests (saccade, smooth pursuit and optokinetic test) are routinely used in clinical evaluations of the central vestibular system. There is no clear information about the lighting (light or dark) of the environment in which oculomotor tests are performed. Objectives: To determine optimum environment lighting by comparing oculomotor test results in bright and dark environments in healthy adults. Materials and methods: The study included 31 healthy adults aged between 18 and 30 without hearing or balance complaints. The participants were administered the Oculomotor tests in light and dark environments. Velocity, accuracy, and latency were compared in the saccade test, gain and asymmetry in the smooth pursuit test, and gain values in the optokinetic test. Results: The study found no statistically significant differences between light and dark environments in saccade, smooth pursuit, and optokinetic test (p> 0.05). However, the latency value determined, especially in the saccade test, was prolonged in the dark environment. Conclusions and significance: The minimal differences between the two environments obtained as a result of the study may lead to false negative results in patients with suspected central vestibular system pathology, making differential diagnosis difficult. © 2025 Acta Oto-Laryngologica AB (Ltd)
Developing and Validating a Scale for Assessing Teachers’ Attitudes Toward Project Consultancy
This study addresses a critical gap in educational research by developing a valid and reliable scale to measure teachers’ attitudes toward project consultancy an increasingly significant role in project-based learning environments. Despite the growing importance of teacher involvement in guiding student projects, tools for assessing teachers’ consultancy attitudes remain limited. Using an exploratory sequential mixed-methods design, the study began with semi-structured interviews (n = 10) to identify core themes, leading to the creation of an item pool. A preliminary version of the scale was administered to 382 teachers for Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA), revealing a four-factor structure—evaluation, execution, planning, and completion—explaining 61.9% of the variance. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) with a separate sample (n = 194) confirmed the model fit (χ2/df = 2.4, CFI = 0.92, RMSEA = 0.08). The final 20-item scale demonstrated strong internal consistency (α = .89). Notably, female teachers scored significantly higher than male teachers on the evaluation subdimension. The Project Consultancy Attitude Scale offers researchers and educational practitioners a psychometrically sound instrument to evaluate and support teacher development in project-based learning context © The Author(s) 2025.
