    Brucellosis and its Diagnostic Techniques in Animals: a Comprehensive Review

    Brucellosis is a highly zoonotic infection found in animals and human, it has a high death ratio and lifetime sterility rate. The rates of intra- and interspecific infections have dramatically increased in recent years as a result of inadequate management and scarce resources particularly in developing nations. In cattle, reduced milk yield and elevated body temperature are the primary indicators, whereas in humans, soaring fever, overall malaise, and arthritis are the hallmarks of late-term abortion. Despite the fact that this diseases in animals and humans found unclear clinically, it will leads towards the hindrance in diagnosing this infectious illness serologically, PCR is an only way to diagnose this illness accurately. In developing nations, brucellosis poses a significant risk to livestock and public health because of its intricate nature. With an emphasis on developing nations specifically, we outlined the most recent research, noteworthy developments, and difficulties in the management and immunization against brucellosis in this review

    Evaluating The Current State Of Evolution Acceptance Instruments: A Research Coordination Network Meeting Report

    Hundreds of studies have explored student evolution acceptance because evolution is a core concept of biology that many undergraduate biology students struggle to accept. However, this construct of “evolution acceptance” has been defined and measured in various ways, which has led to inconsistencies across studies and difficulties in comparing results from different studies. Many studies and essays have offered evaluations and perspectives of evolution acceptance instruments, but publications with a focus on consensus building across research teams is still needed. Further, little attention has been paid to how evolution acceptance instruments may be interpreted differently by students with varied religious backgrounds. Funded by a Research Coordination Network in Undergraduate Biology Education grant from the National Science Foundation, we gathered 16 experts from different disciplinary and religious backgrounds to review current evolution acceptance instruments and create a guide to the strengths and weaknesses of these instruments, including appropriate contexts for using these instruments and their potential weaknesses with different religious populations. Finally, in an attempt to move the field forward, we articulated a consensus definition of evolution acceptance that can be used to guide future instrument development

    A Physiological Approach to Renal Clearance: From Premature Neonates to Adults

    Aims: We propose using glomerular filtration rate (GFR) as the physiological basis for distinguishing components of renal clearance. Methods: Gentamicin, amikacin and vancomycin are thought to be predominantly excreted by the kidneys. A mixed-effects joint model of the pharmacokinetics of these drugs was developed, with a wide dispersion of weight, age and serum creatinine. A dataset created from 18 sources resulted in 27,338 drug concentrations from 9,901 patients. Body size and composition, maturation and renal function were used to describe differences in drug clearance and volume of distribution. Results: This study demonstrates that GFR is a predictor of two distinct components of renal elimination clearance: (1) GFR clearance associated with normal GFR and (2) non-GFR clearance not associated with normal GFR. All three drugs had GFR clearance estimated as a drug-specific percentage of normal GFR (gentamicin 39%, amikacin 90% and vancomycin 57%). The total clearance (sum of GFR and non-GFR clearance), standardized to 70 kg total body mass, 176 cm, male, renal function 1, was 5.58 L/h (95% confidence interval [CI] 5.50-5.69) (gentamicin), 7.77 L/h (95% CI 7.26-8.19) (amikacin) and 4.70 L/h (95% CI 4.61-4.80) (vancomycin). Conclusions: GFR provides a physiological basis for renal drug elimination. It has been used to distinguish two elimination components. This physiological approach has been applied to describe clearance and volume of distribution from premature neonates to elderly adults with a wide dispersion of size, body composition and renal function.     Green Synthesis of Titanium Oxide Nanoparticles from Leaves Extract of Cassia Fistula and Evaluation of their Antimicrobial Activities

    The fields of biotechnology, pharmacy, agriculture, and health could all benefit greatly from advances in Nano science and nanotechnology. The synthesis, characterizations, and antibacterial qualities of titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles made using Cassia fistula leaves in a green synthesis procedure are the main objectives of this work which was carried out between September 2021 and June 2022. Four methods were used to analyse the structure of titanium dioxide nanoparticles: FTIR, XRD, and SEM. According to FTIR research, TiO2 exhibited stretching vibrations at 1500–1600 cm-1 and a UV absorption peak between 250 and 400 nm. Nanoparticle diameters ranged from 145.6 to 205.91 nm, according to XRD. They were examined morphologically using SEM. The Well Diffusion method was used to assess the antibacterial activity of TiO2 nanoparticles against both gram-positive (Streptococcus faecalis, Staphylococcus aureus) and gram-negative (E. coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa) bacteria. For different concentrations, the maximum inhibition zones were 26 ± 0.76 mm, 21 ± 1 mm, and 12 ± 0.95 mm, according to the results. According to the results, TiO2 nanoparticles showed more potent antibacterial activity against gram-negative bacteria than gram-positive ones

    Existing slow and labor-intensive processes to assess and disseminate performance-feedback in training health pro-professionals in counseling techniques like Motivational Interviewing(MI) does not scale to meet the demands of mental health workforce. To automate this process we present ReadMI, a fully functional mobile-cloud computing based dialogue-assessment tool that harnesses latest advancements in automatic speech recognition and natural language processing to analyze MI trainee utterances in real-time and generate instantaneous feed-back. In this paper we present the design and development details of ReadMI prototype. We also present the validation results obtained by comparing ReadMI\u27s performance with MI experts. Our results demonstrate that, by automatically generating feed-back and reducing training delay, ReadMI demonstrates strong potential to scale up MI training workflow
