They set sail again and make Cape Race but are driven back to Chambers Cove where they have to spend eight days. Reminiscence of growing up with a dog and the fun they had playing together. At one point the dog saves the boy from drowning, but eventually the dog grows old and blind nd the doctor can do no more for him. Man take gun to shoot his dog but can't bring himself to do it.
