    Keterlibatan Perempuan dalam Aksi Terorisme di Indonesia

    The bomb blast in Surabaya which was an act of terrorism carried out by one family showed that women were actively involved in acts of terrorism. In the early days of the emergence of terrorism, women only acted as inter­mediaries, managing data through the internet network, fund collectors and driving "jihad" the husband who in fact was a terrorist. Based on this phenomenon, this paper wants to question what lies behind women's involvement in acts of terrorism? The literature review is used as a method to collect data related to women's involvement in acts of terrorism. This article will describe how women are involved in acts of terrorism. One of the successes of radicalism propaganda is actively involving women in acts of terrorism. Women as active actors in acts of terror will quickly be recognized if they show courage in jihad at the expense of their physical lives. His courage to become a 'martyr of the religion of God' was suspected to indicate the importance of a woman's piety

    Indonesia has long been aware of the importance of gender equality through accommodating women's public rights and recognizing the importance of women's position in development. However, the efforts have not been fully able to create equal and fairness relations between men and women. This conceptual paper is the purpose to explore the main issues in order to develop gender equality relations in Indonesia. Through the study of existing literature, the authors find two main issues on gender equality develop­ment in Indonesia. First, the problem of human resources development policy that not yet based on empowerment oriented. Second, the penetration capitalism on placed the women in not favorable position. In order to solve the two main problems, authors offer a gender transformation as strategies to raise gender equality

    The movement of humanities solidarity that is widely voiced is the women's movement specifically to wear the hijab (hijab) as a form of solidarity with Muslims. women take a role that is based on the awareness of the importance of togetherness wearing headscarves as a symbol of strength to reject any rhetoric of hatred on any basis, be it identity, religion, race, and ethnicity. This paper describes the veiled women's movement as a form of humanitarian solidarity in the aftermath of the New Zealand tragedy. A descriptive qualitative study of library research was conducted using the Durkheiminism approach. This study produces findings that the hijab has a symbol of religious meaning that is closely related to solidarity and social identity. The veil becomes a symbol of social solidarity as well as resistance to abuse. The hijab movement was born as a collective act to revive the spirit of togetherness among religious followers in combating various acts of radicalism and terrorism

    The role of Pusat Pelayanan Terpadu Pem­ber­dayaan Perempuan dan Anak (P2TP2A)—translated in English: the Integrated Service Center for the Empowerment of Women and Children— in the context of development is very important in order to oversee the government's steps in minimizing and handling cases of violence against women and children which are getting higher intensity from year to year, especially in educational institutions in the form of peer violence and violence by teacher. This study seeks to describe the collaboration of P2TP2A and the Education Office of Depok City in preventing violence against children in educational insti­tutions. Observation and documentation studies are used as data collection techniques and qualitative descriptive analysis. This study produces findings including: 1) collab­oration of P2TP2A and the Education Agency in the prevention of violence against children in the educational environment carried out in the form of socialization “Stop violence on children” and the establishment of children's Forums; 2) involvement of P2TP2A in the recruitment of teachers and principals. The form of collaboration still needs to be improved, especially in the preparation of hidden curriculum programs for handling violence, budgeting violence prevention activities for children in the school environment, and strengthening the authority of prevention until the handling of violence against women and children. This collaboration is at least a starting point that Depok becomes one of the regions that is highly committed in realizing Child Friendly Cities so that children's rights in the context of education can be fulfilled and the number of violence against children can be minimized

    This study aims to determine the causes of acts of violence and acts of sexual harassment against women. This action can occur by anyone and anywhere that is closely related to health and human rights. Acts of violence are often used as a way to maintain and force the subordination of women against men. This research uses descriptive qualita­tive method at Rifka Annisa Women’s Crisis Center. Acts of violence and acts of sexual harassment against women occur because of the low mindset of the community about equality of men and women who are intertwined between fellow interactions, both are equally disadvantaged in the situation. The result of this study, there is a single factor causing violence against women, namely because of socio-cultural factors or because of the imbalance of power relations which causes the subordination of women

    Symbols can be used to give meaning to social behavior, especially in explaining the meaning of the symbol of the equality of life of a cultural community. This study aims to describe and analyze the symbolization and meaning of gender equality from the traditional culture house of the Umametan Lawalu community in Belu NTT. A descriptive qualitative study with a narrative approach was carried out through in-depth interview techniques and field obser­vations, then the data were analyzed using interpretative techniques. This study results in the finding that the traditional house does not only function as a place to live but as a cultural identity that is a condition with a symbol of social behavior. The symbol of equality can be shown from the great pillar found in the Umametan Lawalu traditional house in Belu NTT. Symbols at the poles teach people that women and men have the same role in the social and cultural public sphere, the relationship between men and women becomes an amplifier of social action with each other

    The Image of Women Figures in Folklore of Kudus Kulon’s Toponyms: A Linguistics Anthropology Study

    This study aims to explore the image of women figures in folklore relating to the naming of a place (toponym) in the Kudus Kulon area. This study was carried out with a linguistic anthropology approach, which focuses on language as a set of symbolic resources that enter the constitution or social and individual representations in the real world. The results of this study are as follows: 1) the origin of the toponym, i.e. the name and the activity of the women figures; 2) the role of women figures, consisting of the main and side characters; 3) the relation between female and male figures in toponym can be divided into two: (a) women figures representing the husband and (b) wo­men figures representing themselves; 4) opportunities for women figures, including opportunities to solve problems, oppor­tunities to move according to their interests, and oppor­tunities to participate in public roles; 5) influences of women figur­es, including influences on spirituality, influences on eco­nomic activities, and influences on culture

    Women's experience and knowledge are two substantive things that must be a concern in order to reconstruct the reality of women, in order to overcome the bias of the roles of men and women in life. This paper aims to examine subjective methods that are able to see the reality of women from the lens of women's experience and knowledge so that women have strategic value in their own lives. This study uses field research methods, with data collection techniques from a variety of narratives of women's life history narratively with life history data analysis techniques. This study produces findings that the method of life history is able to identify the subjective experiences of women in constructing their own reality, based on the root experiences of violence that befell them. Second, women's experiences and knowledge about violence can be utilized as a conscious effort to deal with violence, dare to speak out injustice, and rise from the violence they experienced

    This study aims to analyze social solidarity among feminine males, case studies on community A+ Organizer in Padang West Sumatera. This study was analyzed with the theory of social solidarity by Emile Durkheim. This research was conducted with a qualitative approach, with the type of research case study. The results found that there were two forms of social solidarity among the feminine male of the A+ Organizer community: 1) Mutual help such as: giving work, cooperation, and empowerment. 2) Collective activities in the form of together gathering such as: hanging out and regular social gathering. Factors that underlie the formation of social solidarity among feminine men in the A+ Organizer community: 1) The similarity of fate. 2) Interdependence

    The Social Aspects of Gender-responsiveness in Schools

    Schools are strategic institutions to fight for gender equality. There is one school in South Sumatera that applies the concept of gender, namely SMA 2 Sekayu. This study aims to analyze the social aspects of gender-responsiveness in schools. The approach used is descriptive qualitative phenomenological. The informants consisted of school principals, teachers, students, school committees, and education staff. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation and analyzed using an interactive model of analysis consisting of reduction, presentation, and verification. Meanwhile, the social aspects of gender-responsiveness were analyzed through Longwe. The results showed that the implementation of gender-oriented schools on social aspects involved women and men of the school committee. Teachers' and parents’ interactions run well. The school had a puberty management forum for male and female students. The interaction of all school members is in accordance with the concepts of gender equality. But the teacher did not yet have the ability to control and detect sexual harassment against students. To realize gender-responsiveness, all components in the school must have gender sensitivity
