Serat Babad Kediri, Chronicle Of Figuration, Meaning, and Perspective: Among the Mythology, History, and Fiction
Indonesia has a wide range of the literature types. This archipelago is enriched by ancient literature that becomes the works of man in the history. Inside the Javanese literature, there is manuscript which also called as “BABAD”, this chronicle is separated depending on where each comes from, such as Babad Tanah Jawi, Serat Babad Kediri, Babad Ayat, Babad Ronggolawe, Babad Sumenep, and others. Each of that ancient manuscript, are inside the figuration, it because, those are present the three characteristics, that wraps by myth or legend, but at the same time, it was trying to represent the history of the land, and as well as enrich the Indonesian fiction literature. From a mythological perspective, figures in chronicles are beliefs or masks that are deliberately guarded and maintained by their owners. Therefore, the focus of the assessment is not to find the speaker's experience but to reveal the mask that is deliberately worn on the character. From a historical perspective, the figures in the chronicle are known to correspond to the life of the person concerned while in the primary time, or real facts. Therefore, the focus of the assessment lies in the attempt to find a correspondence between the facts mentioned therein with the fact that there is present in real life, as well as to observe from the primary interactions. Here's a fictional perspective, a chronicle is a world of fictitious life that is deliberately embodied in meaningful language. Therefore the focus of this assessment is trying to reveal the imaginative or symbolic worlds. On each of the Babad manuscript, it’s associated with the message that brings out by the messenger which embed inside the context of value and meaning. This paper focused on the Babad Kediri manuscript that written out by Mas Ngabehi Purbawijaya and published by “Boekhandel TAN KHOEN SWIE”, at the city of Kediri around 1932. The Deletion of Syntactic Function in Sentence Written By Students of Class III, IV, V, And VI Elementary School
This study aims to describe the deletion of syntactic function in sentences written by students of class III, IV, V, and VI elementary schools. This research data in the form of sentences in class III, IV, V, and VI elementary students. The data were collected from data sources in the form of essays from a number of third-grade students, IV, V, and VI elementary school target of this study. The results showed three things. First, there are sentences found in all classes, namely (1) the constituent sentence essentially present with the basic sentence patterns (a) S-P, (b) S-P-O, (c) S-P-Pel, and (d) S-P-Ket; and (2) a sentence whose constituents are essentially not present with a sentence type whose S constituent is not present. Second, there are sentences found in certain classes, ie (1) sentences whose constituent P is absent only found in class V, and (2) sentences whose S and P constituents are absent are found only in class IV, V, and VI. Thirdly, even though the sentence that his S-constituent is not present is found in all classes, the sentence pattern in each level is different
Introducing “ Undha Usuk” Javanese Language Through Children Drama Performance in Festival Kampoeng Pejoeang at Trate, Ngadiluwih
Undha usuk in the Javanese language increasingly forgotten by the children in the Trate village, Ngadiluwih sub-district. The progress of the times, as well as the rise of technology, makes children seems forgotten in their own regional language politeness. Innovative and educational activities are needed to overcome this. One of them is by staging child drama. Staging children's drama is an activity that integrates various language skills such as reading, listening, and speaking. The staging of children drama in Trate village, Ngadiluwih sub-district can be held in Kampoeng Pejoeang festival to celebrate independence day. The purpose of this article is to describe the technique of child drama performances in the festival Kampoeng Pejoeang as a strategy to introduce undha usuk in the Javanese language to children at Trate village, Ngadiluwih sub-district. The data obtained comes from observations and interviews. Drama learning theory, as well as language skills, especially undha ushuk Javanese language, are combined in this article so that this strategy can be adapted elsewhere
Narration of Ikrar Kajat in Gondowangi Village: Documentation of Formula Oral Literature of Kawi Mountain
This article is based on the results of oral literature research on the slopes of Kawi. Object presented is the ikrar kajat conducted by Mbah Ngari, one of the speakers of oral tradition in the village of Gondowangi in Wagir district. Verbal data was collected using field research methods, interview techniques and video documentation. Data analysis is focused on studying the formula ikrar kajat. The result is video documentation that has been completed by subtitles. The greeting and demand formula is the main element in the pledge narrative
PRE-TESTING ASSESSMENT OF REASONING ABILITY TO THE COLLEGE STUDENTS (Case Study in IKIP Bojonegoro East Java)
In relation of the reasoning process, language structure actually reflects the structure of the mind itself. Language are tightly related to the thinking and reasoning. This process are proceeds from the observation of the senses or the empirical observation in the mind which then produces a number of propositions. As an thinking activity to draws a conclusion, it is necessary to do an evaluation in the form of evaluative question to measure one's reasoning ability in order to achieve effective and objectives results. The research purposes were determined a valid question that can be used to measure reasoning abilities in according with indicators and reasoning dimensions. This research is quantitative research with data analysis techniques used R point Biserial and KR-20. Based on the experiments of 46 items, the r-pbi value of each drop question is (1) 0.120, (2) 0.444, (3) 0.443, (4) 0.263, (5) 0.341, (6) 0.014, (7) 0.011 and (8) 0.382. The value of KR-20 is 0.531 with an average value of pi 0.323, qi 0.677, k 38, totally var of 14.83, and p*q 0.219, Σ p*q 7.159. Thus to test the reasoning ability on the students were obtained the number of valid items as the final instrument is 38 items of 46 items that have been tested first
FEEDBACK AND SELF REGULATION IN WRITING LEARNING ASSESMENT IN JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL
This article aims to analyze the pattern of feedback and self-regulation in writing assessment in junior high school. The feedback in the writing assessment in junior high school is done quantitatively in the form of a score in the final product. Self-regulation in the assessmentas a learning tool is done in the form of reflections on competencies that have been mastered and have not been mastered. The implementation of feedback and self-regulation in the learningassessment in junior high school is not suitable yet in terms of reversal principle and self-regulation in the context of assessment as a learning tool
DEVELOPING VOCATIONAL-BASED LEARNING MATERIALS TO WRITE SCIENTIFIC PAPERS TO IMPROVE THE POLYTECHNIC STUDENTS’ ACADEMIC WRITING SKILLS IN INDONESIAN LANGUAGE COURSE
This research seeks to develop vocational-based learning materials to write scientific papers, particularly tailored to improve the Polytechnic students’ academic writing skills entailed in Indonesian Language course. This research employed the combination of two modified instructional design models, namely, R2D2 (recursive, reflective, design, and development) andR&D (research and development. From the amalgamation of the two developmental models, the researcher obtained the development procedures as follows: (1) preliminary study, (2) determination, and (3) design and development. The learning materials encompass 5 learning competencies, namely, (1) writing scientific works, (2) scientific articles, (3) writing apprentice work reports, (4) writing citations and references, and (5) editing the language employed in scientific works. Those five competencies are developed in accordance with the characteristics of learning materials for Polytechnic students, namely, (1) encompassing competence on scientificworks writing; (2) installing understanding on the nature of scientific works; (3) designing or composing scientific works; (4) explicating steps required to write scientific papers as standard operating procedure (SOP); (5) practicing writing scientific papers; (6) assessing the outcomes of the practice by using instruments
UNFOLDING VALUES OF JAVANESE CULTURAL WISDOM IN JIDOR SENTULAN JOMBANG: AN ETHNOLINGUISTIC STUDY
Study on language and culture put language as an act and means to fulfill the act. As an act and the means, language conveys many functions. Ideology functions are one of language function resulted from an assumption that particular language feature conveys ideology dimension of a society, in Santoso (2007). Ideology is a reflection of social values which are a consensus. Jidor Sentulan is a literary performance done through dialogic narrating through which tradition and culture are held firmly. This study aimed at describing ideology function of Jidor Sentulan in Jombang. Ethno linguistic analysis describes some language features to reveal values of Javanese cultural wisdom as the ideology of people in Jombang. Results of the study found several language features that represent the values of Javanese cultural wisdom found in Sentulan Jidor of Jombang, they are: (1) lexical process includes (i) lexicalization, (ii) less lexical, and (iii) more lexical; and (iv) modalities, implicature, and terms of address. (2) Awareness functions include (i) function of friendship and brotherhood, (ii) function of the spirit and hard work, (iii) function of social care for the environment, and (iv) function of ideology and religious. The results of the study might be useful to preserve values of local wisdom
Correlation Between Reading Literacy Ability and Achievement in Learning Indonesian Language in Grade X
This study aims to find out (1) reading literacy ability, (2) achievement in Indonesian language learning, and (3) correlation between reading literacy ability and achievement in Indonesian language learning in Grade X. This research uses a quantitative approach of a correlational research type. The results of this study indicate that (1) the score rate of reading literacy ability of students is 78.3 (good), (2) the score rate of achievement in Indonesian language learning is 81,7 (good), and (3) there is a significant correlation between reading literacy ability and achievement in learning Indonesian language in Grade X
Language Policy in Current Times
language policy earlier has been designed to promote languages in education, administration, and Judiciary, etc. It is seen as a powerful political instrument for promoting co-existence of different languages. Now effective technological and scientific (language) tools are available for formulation comprehensive language policies and their implementation. UNESCO is doing commendable work in this regard by tracking a number of capacity building initiatives to strengthen nations and their institution to faster the implementation of language policies. A comprehensive language policy aimed at language promotion should be framed up taking into account specificities of the linguistic and cultural diversity of the nation and the issue arose out of such diversity. This can be done by sharing and exchange of good practices with other nations. The language policy should highlight the need for extensively using technology for promoting and protecting languages, developing e-content and supporting e-governance in native languages etc. The language policy should also make a detailed analysis of native languages for contribution economy of the nation for sustainable development and inclusive growth
