    THE EXISTENCE OF MADURESE WOMEN IN THE DOMESTIC REALM IN THE SHORT STORY COLLECTION PARABAN TUAH BY ELOK TEJA SUMINAR

    This research analyzes the existence of Madurese women in the short story collection Paraban Tuah by Elok Teja Suminar through the perspective of Simone de Beauvoir's existential feminism. In contrast to feminism which focuses on the public sphere, existential feminism emphasizes the struggle of individuals in the domestic sphere. This qualitative research uses content analysis techniques to examine data in the form of information about the existence of Madurese women in a collection of short stories. The results show that Madurese women are positioned as subjects, objects, or both, with manifestations of resistance, submission, or resistance mixed with submission to men

    A STUDY OF SWEAR WORDS IN MADURESE LANGUAGE AMONG COASTAL TEENAGERS OF MADURA

    This study examines the types and functions of Madurese swearing language among coastal teenagers in Madura, particularly students at SMKN 1 Sepulu, Bangkalan Regency. Using a sociolinguistic approach and Hughes' (2006) and Andersson & Trudgill's (1990) theories, this qualitative study identifies six swearing categories, with general terms being the most common. Swearing functions include expressing emotions, building solidarity, and demonstrating peer closeness. The findings enrich the understanding of swearing's social roles among coastal Madurese teenagers

    The research aimed to examine YouTube user comments on Levi’s commercial featuring Beyoncé. The focus of this research was evaluative language within the framework of Appraisal Theory. The research aims to analyze public evaluation both positive and negative toward the commercial and its implications for Levi’s brand image. A qualitative descriptive discourse analysis method was employed, utilizing AntConc software to process 739 user comments collected from YouTube within one month of the commercial’s release. The analysis highlighted a significant dominance of negative evaluations, with criticisms often directed at Beyoncé’s involvement due to her associated controversies. Positive comments, while present, primarily praise the advertisement’s aesthetic appeal and Beyoncé’s cultural influence. The findings underscored the polarized reception of celebrity-driven campaigns, where public figures with contentious reputations can elicit strong backlash, potentially damaging brand perception

    conversation is the embodiment of human expression by procedures, methods, and resources associated with the context. The context becomes the deciding factor that gives the perception between the speaker and the hearer so that the conversation interactive. Interactivity conversation that occurs because of the efforts of the speakers to interpret utterances addressees so as to make it a meaningful conversation. Conditions for mutual interpret perspective that is referred to as reciprocity of perspective. The existence of reciprocity of perspective, the conversation will be dynamic. Thus, the existence of reciprocity of perspective on the identity of the speaker and hearer are caused by the difference between the sexes will affect the process of speech. If the speaker's gender to male perspective to the addressees subordinate female then reciprocity will be different perspectives with speakers of the male sex who have different perspectives of the speakers superordinatif female

This study shows how the story is lasting, teaches good values, and tells about Madura's way of life. It's not just a story; it keeps important things about who Madura's people are and what they believe. This research shows that Madura's stories are still important today, crossing time and cultures.     This study aims to identify how social behavior respects each other in the film The Greatest Showman directed by Michael Gracey and released in 2017. This research is a qualitative research with a focus on analyzing the behavior and interactions of each character in respecting other characters and how the impact of mutual rsespect that occurs in each character. The technique used in this research is descriptive analysis. From this research, several problem formulations were found. First, how the occurrence of mutual respect. Second, what is the impact of mutual respect between characters. Third, how is the comparison of mutual respect in movies and in everyday life. Mutual respect, Compassion, Love and empathy are words that everyone agrees have a positive meaning. However there are many theories about what respect means. Perhaps the reason it is so difficult to define is that it can mean different things to different people depending on whether it is used as a verb or as a noun depending on the cultural background and context in which it is discussed.KEY WORDS : The Greatest Showman, Sociological Approach, Mutual Respec

    This study conducted a concise postmodern cinematic analysis of ‘Blue Velvet’ (1986), directed by David Lynch, focusing on the portrayal of women and their narrative roles. ‘Blue Velvet’ exemplifies postmodern cinema through its subversion of conventional storytelling and exploration of dark undercurrents in suburban America. The analysis delved into the multifaceted depiction of women, examining how Lynch employs the “male gaze” through camera work and narrative structure, reinforcing patriarchal power dynamics. By scrutinizing key scenes, we revealed women often depicted for male viewer gratification. This study provided a new viewpoint on ‘Blue Velvet,’ shedding light on its challenge to cinematic norms and highlighting the interplay of gender, power, and narrative in a postmodern context

     ABSTRACT: My research discusses how social issues that occur in society, such as social inequality represented in literary works, film as the genre, Snowpiercer (2013) directed by Korean director, Bong Joon Ho. The background of the research is social issues that are reflected in literary works. The purpose of the research is, to find out and show to the reader, how social inequality and exploitation are represented in Snowpiercer (2013). The research method used in this research is a literary qualitative method, where all the information is collected in various references. The conclusion that can be obtained from this writing is, that social issues such as social inequality and exploitation can be represented through the literary work, film.     This study aims to analyze conceptual metaphors in the lyrics of the song Mantra Jiwa by Aviwkila as a life motivation narrative through a cognitive linguistic approach. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. This study identifies structural, ontological, and orientational metaphors and their contributions to building motivational narratives. The findings of the study reveal that the lyrics of the song Soul Mantra by Aviwkila use conceptual metaphors to arouse emotional and conceptual involvement, which fosters a motivational perspective. This study enriches the understanding of metaphorical language in popular music and its cognitive impact
