Anti-cancer properties of flaxseed proteome
Flaxseed has been recognized as a valuable source of nutrients and bioactive compounds, including proteins that possess various health benefits. In recent years, studies have shown that flaxseed proteins, including albumins, globulins, glutelin, and prolamins, possess anti-cancer properties. These properties are attributed to their ability to inhibit cancer cell proliferation, induce apoptosis, and interfere with cancer cell signaling pathways, ultimately leading to the inhibition of metastasis. Moreover, flaxseed proteins have been reported to modulate cancer cell mechanobiology, leading to changes in cell behavior and reduced cancer cell migration and invasion. This review provides an overview of the anti-cancer properties of flaxseed proteins, with a focus on their potential use in cancer treatment. Additionally, it highlights the need for further research to fully establish the potential of flaxseed proteins in cancer therapy. © 2023 by the authors
Legal and Ethical Perspectives on Euthanasia: A Comparative Study of India and Canada
This comparative study explores the legal and ethical perspectives on euthanasia in India and Canada. Euthanasia, also known as assisted dying, is a complex and controversial issue that raises questions about autonomy, dignity, suffering, and the role of healthcare professionals in end-of-life decision-making. In Canada, euthanasia is legal under certain circumstances, following the Supreme Court's decision in the Carter case in 2015. The Medical Assistance in Dying (MAID) Act came into effect in 2016, which allows eligible patients to receive medical assistance in dying with the supervision of a medical practitioner. However, the law has strict criteria for eligibility, and there is ongoing debate about expanding its scope. In India, euthanasia is illegal under the Indian Penal Code. However, there have been several high-profile cases in recent years that have brought the issue to public attention, such as the Aruna Shanbaug case in 2011. The debate in India has focused on the right to die with dignity and the need for a legal framework that addresses end- of-life care and decision-making. This study compares the legal frameworks and ethical perspectives on euthanasia in both countries, examining the cultural and historical factors that shape attitudes towards end-of-life care. Synthesis, characterization and antibacterial evaluation of N-(2-Morpholinoethyl)-3-phenylquinoxalin-2-amine derivatives
A series of substituted N-(2-Morpholinoethyl)-3-phenylquinoxalin-2-amines (5a-j) (5ab, 5ac) were synthesized in good yield and characterized for their structural confirmation. The pure quinoxaline products were screened for their in-vitro antibacterial activity against Salmonella paratyphi, a well-known food borne pathogen. The preliminary results revealed that among the series, compounds 5a, 5c, 5d, 5e, 5f, 5h, 5ab and 5ac bearing bromo, fluoro, methoxy, methyl groups at para position on phenyl ring which inturn substituted at third position of quinoxaline and methyl, benzoyl groups at sixth position on the quinoxaline were emerged as potential candidates by displaying antisalmonella activity. Among the potential candidates, compounds 5c, 5e, 5f and 5ac were effective against Salmonella whereas compounds 5a, 5f and 5ac effectively inhibited the biofilm formation of Salmonella
Synthesis, structural and exploration of non-covalent interactions of the palladium complex with the crystalline water molecule: A comprehensive quantum chemical approach
A Schiff base ligand, N'-((2-hydroxynaphthalen-1-yl)methylene)-3-phenylpropanehydrazide (L) and its palladium(II) complex Pd(L)Cl] were synthesized and characterized by FT-IR, SEM, EDAX, and UV-visible and single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis.The crystal structure shows distorted square-planar, where the palladium(II) metal atom is bonded to two oxygen atoms in the equatorial position whereas a nitrogen and chlorine atom along the axial position in a tetradentate monoanionic O1, O2, N1, Cl1] fashion resulting in the formation of five and six membered chelate rings. The crystal structure is supported by intramolecular N -H...O and O -H...Cl hydrogen bonds, C -H...Cl, N -H...O, symbolscript and symbolscript intermolecular secondary interactions resulting in the supramolecular architectures. The 3D description of the intermolecular interactions are quantified us-ing the Hirshfeld surface analysis. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations were performed to obtain the optimum geometry structures using the wB97XD functional. The natural bond orbital (NBO) analysis showed that the metal ion coordinates to the ligands through electron donation from lone pairs on ni-trogen and oxygen atoms to the d orbitals of the metal ion. The topology analysis of the electron density by means of the natural bond orbitals (NBO), quantum theory of atoms in molecules (QTAIM), nonco-valent index (NCI), and electron localization function (ELF) have revealed valuable information regarding the nature of interactions and the results are in good agreement with the structural analysis results.(c) 2022 Elsevier B.V. Structure property relationship of two pyrazole derivatives: Insights from crystal structure and computational studies
Single crystal X-ray diffraction method was employed to characterize the pyrazole derivatives 5-(4Methoxyphenyl)-3-(thiophen-2-yl)-4, 5-dihydro-1 H- pyrazole-1-carboxamide ( A ), and 3-(Thiophen-2-yl)5-(4-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)-4, 5-dihydro-1 H -pyrazole-1-carboxamide ( B ). The compound A crytallizes in the orthorhombic crystal system with space group P2 1 2 1 2 1 and B crytallizes in the monoclinic crystal system with space group P2 1 . N -H...O type of interaction is responsible for the crystal packing in both the molecules. Compound A is also reinforced by C -H...O interaction. The intermolecular interactions present in the crystals were validated by Hirshfeld surface analysis. Geometry optimization was performed by Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations. The electrophillic and nucleophillic regions are shown using Molecular Electrostatic Potential (MEP) map. Significance of the Wnt canonical pathway in radiotoxicity via oxidative stress of electron beam radiation and its molecular control in mice
Purpose Radiation triggers cell death events through signaling proteins, but the combined mechanism of these events is unexplored The Wnt canonical pathway, on the other hand, is essential for cell regeneration and cell fate determination. Aim The relationship between the Wnt pathway's response to radiation and its role in radiotoxicity is overlooked, even though it is a critical molecular control of the cell. The Wnt pathway has been predicted to have radioprotective properties in some reports, but the overall mechanism is unknown. We intend to investigate how this combined cascade works throughout the radiation process and its significance over radiotoxicity. Materials and methods Thirty adult mice were irradiated with electron beam radiation, and 5 served as controls. Mice were sacrificed after 24 h and 30 days of irradiation. We assessed DNA damage studies, oxidative stress parameters, mRNA profiles, protein level (liver, kidney, spleen, and germ cells), sperm viability, and motility. Observation The mRNA profile helps to understand how the combined cascade of the Wnt pathway and NHEJ work together during radiation to combat oxidative response and cell survival. The quantitative examination of mRNA uncovers unique critical changes in all mRNA levels in all cases, particularly in germ cells. Recuperation was likewise seen in post-30 day's radiation in the liver, spleen, and kidney followed by oxidative stress parameters, however not in germ cells. It proposes that reproductive physiology is exceptionally sensitive to radiation, even at the molecular level. It also suggests the suppression of Lef1/Axin2 could be the main reason for the permanent failure of the sperm function process. Post-irradiation likewise influences the morphology of sperm. The decrease in mRNA levels of Lef1, Axin2, Survivin, Ku70, and XRCC6 levels suggests radiation inhibits the Wnt canonical pathway and failure in DNA repair mechanisms in a coupled manner. An increase in Bax, Bcl2, and caspase3 suggests apoptosis activation followed by the decreased expression of enzymatic antioxidants. Conclusion Controlled several interlinked such as the Wnt canonical pathway, NHEJ pathway, and intrinsic apoptotic pathway execute when the whole body is exposed to radiation. These pathways decide the cell fate whether it will survive or will go to apoptosis which may further be used in a study to counterpart and better comprehend medication focus on radiation treatmen
Scientometric analysis of teaching geriatric dentistry in institutions of higher education: A global perspective
This chapter investigates scientometric analysis of teaching geriatric dentistry in institutions of higher education. The analysis is divided into two components: research on geriatric dentistry and research on teaching geriatric dentistry. The study used Scopus to retrieve published studies on these themes using "geriatric AND dentistry OR teaching" or "geriatric AND dentistry OR education" with 22,707 results. Similarly, the search terms used for the second strand are "teaching AND geriatric AND dentistry" or "education AND geriatric AND dentistry," which gave 516 documents. It was found that a number of authors stand out prominently based on the combination of the number of publications and their citation impact. Many research productivity of countries, influential authors in the field of geriatric dentistry, metrics, etc. were highlighted. Since research in geriatric dentistry is continuous, teaching current trends and learning emerging developments in the field are necessities. © 2024, IGI Global. All rights reserved
Between digital dentistry and geriatric care in Sub-Saharan Africa: information giving and use perspective
This chapter explores digital dentistry and geriatric care in sub-Saharan Africa from information giving and use perspective. There is a growing concern about the increased population turning into elderly groups. Most of the healthcare systems neglect them or where they provide such services; they do so in fragmented ways. Interestingly, the rest of the globe, particularly developed countries, have gone far in incorporating innovative technologies that allow healthcare delivery electronically. Most data lacks sufficient reviews to supplement evidence-based practice on what information giving and getting is and where they differ as such affecting health information behavior of elderly people. The approach used in developed countries to impart knowledge on elderly people directly may not work on the African continent. Such approaches are mostly used to enhance the cognitive abilities of elderly people.
