    Criticism of "Japanese Yomeigaku"

    Get PDF
departmental bulletin pape

北九州市立大学博士(工学)In a world grappling with deteriorating natural environments and acute energy shortages, the substantial energy consumption attributed to buildings presents a formidable challenge. Thus, setting goals to reduce building energy usage and mitigate environmental impacts is crucial. However, achieving these objectives must not compromise the comfort of building occupants. Efficiently harnessing natural light not only reduces energy dependency but also enhances the quality of building usage. Focusing on indoor natural lighting environments and specific building types, this thesis uncovers opportunities for performance optimization and efficiency improvements in the early design phases, considering environmental and structural aspects. This research, augmenting contemporary studies on similar themes, identifies significant areas requiring further exploration and is poised to enrich the design field and aid stakeholders in making informed architectural decisions.doctoral thesi

Low Temperature Oxidative Coupling of Methane over Modified Cerium Oxide Catalysts

    Get PDF
北九州市立大学博士(工学)The utilization of methane (CH4) by oxidative coupling of methane (OCM) poses a challenge in achieving selective partial oxidation of CH4 while minimizing undesired complete oxidation, underlining the importance of finding suitable catalysts. The study investigates different catalysts, in particular ceria with various transition metals and alkali metals, to improve the catalytic performance at low temperatures. The study shows that a combination of 33% manganese and 15% calcium in a ceria catalyst has the highest activity, although the overall C2 yield remains low compared to high-temperature processes. The study highlights the potential of OCM in environmental applications and its importance in regions such as Indonesia with abundant methane resources.doctoral thesi

DOSY NMR: A Valuable Tool for Determining the Enhanced Binding Constant of Cyclodextrin Nanoparticles

    Get PDF
北九州市立大学博士(工学)This thesis explores the impact of polymerization on the binding affinity of cyclodextrin (CD)-based nanoparticles (CDNPs) with various drug molecules. By incorporating epichlorohydrin (ECH) into CDNPs, the study demonstrates a significant enhancement in binding constants. Utilizing Diffusion-Ordered Spectroscopy Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (DOSY NMR), the mechanisms underlying this enhanced binding affinity are analyzed. The research reveals a 100-fold increase in the binding constant between CDs and alpha-mangostin, and a substantial improvement in the interaction with vanillin. Additionally, a 2:1 βCD-paroxetine inclusion complex is identified, highlighting potential drug delivery benefits, especially for hydrophobic drugs. The findings suggest that ECH-induced hydrophobicity plays a key role in these interactions. The study also investigates the biocompatibility and safety of CDNPs, offering insights into reducing nephrotoxicity associated with CDs. This research advances our understanding of CD-based nanotechnology and its potential to improve therapeutic efficacy in drug delivery systems.doctoral thesi

Evaluating Air Pollution in Jakarta: A Dynamic Vehicle Age-Based Cohort Emission Models, Meteorological Effects, and COVID-19 Impacts

    Get PDF
北九州市立大学博士(工学)This study focuses on evaluating air pollution in Jakarta, emphasizing three main areas: the impact of motor vehicle emissions, the correlation between meteorological variables and air quality, and the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on pollution levels. From 2007 to 2018, motorbikes emerged as the primary contributors to air pollutants. Projections indicate that by 2040, motorbikes will continue to dominate emissions, with expected contributions of 70.2% for CO, % for HC, and 82.9% for PM under a business-as-usual scenario. The research also found moderate correlations between temperature, humidity, rainfall, and PM levels during the COVID-19 pandemic, highlighting a complex interaction between environmental conditions and public health risks associated with air pollution. Even though there was a weak correlation between confirmed deaths because of COVID-19 and all air quality parameters, the study found positive cases of COVID-19 were strongly correlated with PM10, PM2.5, CO, and O3, whereas PM2.5 alone, showed a negative correlation.doctoral thesi
