Doshisha and Nursing : Following the footprints of Yu Fuwa, a second generation graduate of the Kyoto Training School for Nurses
Yu Fuwa, a second-generation graduate of the Kyoto Training School for Nurses, married Tadajiro immediately after graduation. Around the time when she began her life in a new place, she unexpectedly attended to Niijima as a private nurse until his death, with sheer dedication and putting into practice all that she had learned from L. Richards. Her experience of nursing Niijima became a source of pride for her, which helped her throughout her life. Thereafter, she raised her family in Kyoto, was involved in the management of hospital nursing, and contributed to the development of her alma mater by leading a campaign for its preservation. She was a devout Christian, energetically engaged in missionary as well as healthcare activities, and was always lively, dignified, and positive. departmental bulletin pape
The Influences of the Basic Personality Traits on the Attitudes toward LINE Communication in Female Undergraduates
The present study explored the influences of the basic personality traits (Big Five) on the attitudes toward LINE communication. The Big Five Scale (Moroi & Okada, 2021) and The Attitudes toward LINE Communication Scale (Tokioka et al., 2017; revised by authors) were administered to female undergraduates (N=296). Based on the factor analysis of the attitudes toward LINE communication scale, three factors were extracted: “obsession with quick reply,” “sense of miscommunication,” and “intimate communication.” The results of the covariance structure analysis indicated that neuroticism, extraversion, and conscientiousness significantly influenced the attitudes toward LINE communication. The significance of research in the psychological mechanisms underlying the communication tool called LINE was discussed.departmental bulletin pape

A Smart Choice Between Face-to-Face and Online Classes for Teaching English Speaking Skills : Which Mode is More Satisfactory for College Students?
application/pdfAN00000289-20230722-74This study explores the appropriate conditions for speaking courses at tertiary-level education in Japan. In the past three years, students and teachers all over the world have experienced online courses, which has had a positive impact on the ICT skills of college instructors. This suggests that online classes can be a valuable teaching method. Thus, the goal of this study is to identify college students’ recognition of face-to-face and online speaking courses and to uncover the appropriate mode of speaking classes. The participants of this study were 37 college junior students, who experienced both online and face-to-face speaking courses in the last three years. An originally developed questionnaire of 28 items with semantic differential scales and multiple choice/multiple answers was used. As a result of the analysis, the pros and cons of face-toface and online courses are revealed.論文departmental bulletin pape
