    Isu yang berlaku adalah pembelajaran dan pemudahcaraan bahasa Arab yang dijalankan secara maya sewaktu dalam tempoh Perintah Kawalan Pergerakan (PKP) dilihat kurang berkesan dan tidak begitu memuaskan disebabkan oleh pelbagai masalah dan kekangan yang dihadapi oleh murid yang menghalang mereka dari mengikuti pembelajaran secara maya. Oleh itu, kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengenal pasti tahap penerimaan guru bahasa Arab sekolah menengah kebangsaan di Kelantan terhadap pembelajaran dan pemudahcaraan bahasa Arab secara maya, melihat perbezaan penerimaan guru bahasa Arab sekolah menengah kebangsaan di Kelantan terhadap pembelajaran dan pemudahcaraan bahasa Arab secara maya antara guru yang mengajar di bandar dengan luar bandar dan mengkaji faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi pembelajaran dan pemudahcaraan bahasa Arab secara maya. Kajian yang dijalankan ini penting untuk melihat sejauh mana tahap penerimaan guru terhadap pembelajaran bahasa Arab secara maya. Selain itu, suasana arus teknlogi pada masa kini yang sedang membangun berkemungkinan menjadikan pembelajaran secara maya tidak hanya digunakan sewaktu kecemasan sahaja. Menjalankan pembelajaran dan pemudahcaraan secara maya juga menjadikan mayarakat lebih bersedia untuk menjalankan kelas secara maya sekiranya terdapat apa-apa kemungkinan yang memerlukan pembelajaran dan pemudahcaraan dijalankan secara maya. Di samping itu, pihak Kementerian Pelajaran Malaysia juga boleh menghalusi setiap faktor yang menyumbang kepada keberkesanan pembelajaran dan pemudahcaraan secara maya bagi mencapai target Kementerian Pendidikan Malaysia yang diterjemahkan dalam Pelan Pembangunan Pendidikan Malaysia 2013- 2025. Kajian ini menggunakan kaedah kuantitatif berbentuk soal selidik yang terdiri daripada 53 item soalan dan menggunakan skala Likert yang ditadbirkan kepada sampel kajian yang terdiri daripada guru-guru bahasa Arab sekolah menengah kebangsaan di seluruh negeri Kelantan. Dapatan kajian dianalisis menggunakan SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences). Hasil analisis menunjukkan penerimaan guru bahasa Arab sekolah menengah kebangsaan di Kelantan terhadap pembelajaran dan pemudahcaraan bahasa Arab secara maya berada pada tahap sederhana tinggi. Secara keseluruhannya tiada perbezaan penerimaan terhadap pembelajaran dan pemudahcaraan bahasa Arab secara maya antara guru bahasa Arab sekolah menengah kebangsaan di Kelantan yang mengajar di bandar dengan luar bandar. Hasil analisis faktor pula menunjukkan 4 faktor yang terbentuk iaitu faktor sokongan teknikal, gaya pengajaran guru dan kesediaan pelajar, faktor sokongan pentadbiran, faktor sokongan sosial dan faktor kandungan mata pelajaran. Hasil analisis deskriptif menggunakan min dan sisihan piawai menunjukkan faktor sokongan teknikal, gaya pengajaran guru dan kesediaan pelajar merupakan faktor utama dalam mempengaruhi keberkesanan pembelajaran bahasa Arab secara maya diikuti oleh faktor sokongan sosial, faktor sokongan pentadbiran dan faktor terakhir yang mempengaruhi keberkesanan pembelajaran dan pemudahcaraan adalah faktor kandungan mata pelajaran.     Kajian ini membincangkan mengenai pengurusan pendapatan tidak patuh syariah yang berlaku dalam industri takaful dengan fokus kajian di Syarikat PruBSN Takaful. Dalam Islam terdapat perkara-perkara utama yang diharamkan dalam perniagaan antaranya gharar, riba, tipu helah, kesilapan, paksaan dan perjudian. Majlis Penasihat Shariah, Bank Negara Malaysia (SAC-BNM) telah mengeluarkan garis panduan bagi memastikan segala aktiviti dalam menguruskan pendapatan adalah mematuhi syariah. Dengan adanya rangka kerja dan tadbir urus syariah yang diguna pakai dalam Syarikat PruBSN Takaful secara tidak langsung ia memastikan pelbagai isu berbangkit mengenai ketidakpatuhan syariah dapat dipantau dan dikawal selia. Segala penambahbaikan dan peningkatan bagi Syarikat PruBSN Takaful akan di buat di dalam Manual Operasi Pelaporan Tidak Patuh Syariah. Dalam dapatan kajian jelas menunjukkan bahawa Syarikat PruBSN Takaful menguruskan dan memastikan pendapatan yang diperolehi adalah mematuhi syariah. Segala aktiviti yang terlibat dalam pengurusan pendapatan di Syarikat PruBSN Takaful adalah mengikut garis panduan yang sedia ada seperti Akta Perkhidmatan Kewangan Islam 2013, serta turut dikawal selia oleh Bank Negara Malaysia.     Unemployment from the perspective of Islamic economics: A case study among university's graduates in the municipality of Tragan, Libya / Hasan Saeid Mohammed Shukrah

    The purpose of the study was to examine the issue of unemployment among university graduates in Tragan, Libya from an Islamic economic perspective. The study will also explain the concept of unemployment, types, and key factors that cause graduate unemployment, further analyzing its impact on graduates, families and communities in Tragan province, Libya.To achieve the objectives outlined, interviews were conducted on several responsible parties in the Tragan Municipal Council based on the functions and responsibilities held. Next, the interview data obtained were analyzed by comparing these findings with previous studies. The results of this study show that the causes of unemployment and its effects in Tragan, Libya are in line with the results shown by previous studies related to unemployment. The study revealed the main causes of unemployment are the lack of new development projects, and the absence of government role in recruitment, as well as the weakness of the private sector, which is supposed to be a competitor to the public sector and absorb the new entrants to the labor market. The study also shows that the main causes of unemployment in Tragan, Libya are due to the lack of new development projects, and the lack of a government role in hiring, the weakness of the private sector that should be a public sector competitor and the absorption of foreigners into the labor market. As a result, the unemployment implications of these graduates give many complications to graduates, families and the government. Therefore, this study suggests the following solutions: rational planning, development of development programs to accommodate university graduates, strengthening the private sector and supporting small and medium industries. In addition, this study suggests that graduates strive to create their own jobs and do not expect government assistance by developing appropriate projects individually or collectively and obtain appropriate funds to initiate activities appropriate to Islamic financial forms such as through platforms such as Zakat, Mudaraba , effective financing, which serves to revive unprofitable land

    Hybridization of metaheuristic algorithm in training radial basis function with dynamic decay adjustment for condition monitoring / Chong Hue Yee

    Condition monitoring is a major component in predictive maintenance which monitors the condition and identifies significant changes of the machinery parameter to perform early detection and prevent equipment defects that could cause unplanned downtime or incur unnecessary expenditures. An effective condition monitoring model is helpful to reduce the frequency of unexpected breakdown incidents and thus, facilitate in maintenance. Artificial neural network (ANN) has shown effective in various condition monitoring and fault detection applications. ANN is popular due to its capability of identifying the complex nonlinear relationships among features in a large dataset and hence, it can perform with an accurate prediction. However, a drawback is that the performance of ANN is sensitive to the parameters (i.e., number of hidden neurons and the initial values of connection weights) in its architecture where the settings of these parameters are subject to tuning on a trial-and-error basis. Hence, a wide range of studies has been focused on determining the optimal weight values of ANN models and the number of hidden neurons. In this research work, the motivation is to develop an autonomous learning model based on the hybridization of an adaptive ANN and a metaheuristic algorithm for optimizing ANN parameters so that the network could perform learning and adaptation in a more flexible way and handle condition classification tasks more accurately in industries, such as in power systems. Different types of metaheuristic optimization tools have their unique features which vary from others and hence lead to different suitability in the particular application. Two metaheuristic algorithms i.e., Harmony Search (HS) and Gravitational Search Algorithm (GSA), are selected to integrate separately with a Radial Basis Function Network with Dynamic Decay Adjustment (RBFN-DDA) to perform condition monitoring in industrial processes. RBFN-DDA performs incremental learning wherein its structure expands by adding new hidden units to include new information. As such, its training can reach stability in a shorter time compared to the gradient-descent based methods. To achieve optimal RBFN-DDA performance, HS (or GSA) is proposed to optimize the center and the width of each hidden unit in a trained RBFN. By integrating with the HS (or GSA) algorithm, the proposed metaheuristic neural networks (i.e., RBFN-DDA-HS and RBFN-DDA-GSA) can optimize the RBFN-DDA parameters and improve classification performances from the original RBFN-DDA up to 28.69% in two benchmarks datasets, which are numerical records from a bearing and steel plate system and a condition-monitoring system in a power plant (i.e., the circulating water (CW) system). The results also show that the proposed RBFN-DDA-HS and RBFN-DDA-GSA are compatible, if not better than, the classification performances of other state-of-art machine learning methods

    Ultrafast pulse laser generation in photonics has gained significant interest in fundamental science and various industries, such as telecommunications, sensing, industrial processing and medicine. Passively Q-switched and mode-locked fiber lasers are recent developments that produce efficient pulse lasers by incorporating gain medium, saturable absorber (SA) materials and SA hosts. In this research, tapered fibers were fabricated and characterised using the flame-brushing technique, with a tapered waist of approximately 7 μm. Passively Q-switched laser and mode-locked lasers were generated in the laser cavities. Due to the emergence of novel SA materials, the research focused on the nonlinear properties of gain medium such as erbium- and thulium-doped fiber lasers; SA materials, such as GO, Ta2AlC MAX Phase and Nb2C MXene; and SA hosts, such as PVA films and tapered fibers, to generate pulse fiber lasers. The results of this work demonstrated that the modulation depth ranged from 1.91 to 41.05%, indicating efficient SA material absorption on the SA hosts. Using PVA film, passively Q-switched fiber lasers generated had a center wavelength ranging from around 1556.20 to 1967.27 nm, repetition rates around 19.83 to 68.52 kHz, pulse widths ranging from around 11.60 to 1.14 μs, signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) values from 23.44 to 74.00 dB and maximum pulse energy ranging from 5.41 to 31.28 nJ. Using tapered fiber, passively mode-locked fiber lasers generated had a center wavelength ranging from around 1555.2 to 1948.3 nm, repetition rates around 9.35 to 16.49 MHz, pulse widths ranging from around 0.63 to 1.68 ps and SNR values ranging from around 52.00 to 74.46 dB. It is noteworthy that tapered fiber and Nb2C MXene produced superior pulse fiber laser performance compared to other SA devices, indicating that these components may provide novel inroads to future research approaches in nonlinear cavities for generating ultrafast pulse fiber lasers. In conclusion, the findings demonstrate excellent performance of selected SA materials covered onto tapered fiber, which would offer opportunities to further explore the fundamental science of photonics and pulse laser for the future development of photonic devices for industry, medicine and the environment

    Since its first announcement in 2013, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has received worldwide attention. Although concerns have been raised about CPEC, including about debt sustainability and security, the cooperation between China and Pakistan moves forward, with the positive framing of CPEC from the media in both countries. An important part of implementing this multilateral plan is execution of foreign policy and promoting cooperation among other countries. Besides, media has an essential role in influencing public opinion and is commonly used by political leaders to convey information domestically and internationally. Therefore, to better understand media representation of CPEC in China and Pakistan, this study investigates metaphor use in articles about CPEC published in a major English newspaper from each of the two countries (Pakistan: Daily Dawn, China: Xinhua). A total of 38 articles published between 19 October 2018 and 19 November 2018 were selected to coincide with the first visit to China made by Pakistan’s premier, Imran Khan. Charteris-Black’s (2004, 2018) Critical Metaphor Analysis was used to identify, interpret, and explain the use of metaphors, comparing the data from the Chinese and Pakistani newspapers. The analysis reveals that certain metaphor types, such as personification, journey, building and container, are commonly used to construct 1) a positive evaluation of China-Pakistan relations and CPEC, and 2) the ideological vision of the “Chinese Dream” by emphasizing common prosperity as a mutual goal. The findings show that the types of metaphors used in both newspapers are similar, possibly because certain metaphor types are universal in nature and common in political discourse

    Students from different language backgrounds may face distinct difficulties when acquiring English as a second language and this may present a challenge in the teaching and learning of English in multilingual Malaysia. Learning about potential differences between learner groups can inform teaching practice of English language teachers, particularly in relation to challenging language structures such as questions. Therefore, the current study aims to examine production of English questions by a group of National-type Chinese primary school students, categorized as either Dominant Speakers of English or Dominant Speakers of Mandarin. Categorisation of the participants was conducted via self-report, Bilingual Language Profile (BLP) questionnaire by Birdsong, Gertken, and Amengual (2014), and interview sessions with randomly selected guardians. The researcher obtained data from 56 Year-Four students to examine production of English questions via three language elicitation tasks: a simulation task, sentence transformation task and translation task. The findings revealed major difficulties faced by both groups of participants were tenses errors, incorrect verb phrase structures, and erroneous use of some wh-words. In addition, Mandarin dominant language students made visibly more omission, inversion and sentence structure errors in contrast to English dominant language. In conclusion, learners from different backgrounds may have different learning needs, which could be due to the transfer of structural patterns from their first language

    Active compounds obtained from medicinal plants are gaining popularity due to its natural nature with fewer side effects. Rutin (quercetin-3-O-rutinoside) is one of the most well-liked active compounds that can be found in medicinal plant. However, studies have reported that the content of active compounds can be affected by the genders of plant, growing environment, soil nutrients, and weather. In Malaysia, Carica papaya Linn or commonly known as papaya plant is widely grown for its nutritional value. Favouritism towards hermaphrodite papaya plant has limited the knowledge on the biology of papaya plant. Female papaya plant that was eliminated as soon as the gender being identified have also led to difficulty in conducting relevant research and is a form of waste of natural resources. Individual Microwave Assisted Extractive (MAE) method and Ultrasound Assisted Extractive (UAE) method were used to determine the rutin content in female papaya leaf. The performance of sequential combination of MUAE and UMAE approaches were also observed and compared with individual MAE and UAE techniques. Yields of rutin extracted from female papaya leaf using individual MAE and UAE and sequential MUAE and UMAE are in the following order from highest rutin yield to the lowest rutin yield, MUAE (18.46 ± 0.64 mg/g) > UMAE (18.43 ± 0.81 mg/g) > UAE (16.73 ± 2.84 mg/g) > MAE (5.67 ± 0.16 mg/g). S/L ratio was found to have the most significant effect on rutin yield from female papaya leaf using different extraction methods. Its significant effect in either linear term, square term, and interactive term was noted in every extraction technique in this study. High S/L ratio in extraction system was determined to be favorable by providing sufficient contact between plant sample and extraction solvent. Extraction time was noticed to have the least significant effect towards yield of rutin where its significant effect was only observed in the MUAE approach. In MUAE, high rutin yield was observed at short sonication time with large plant sample and again at long sonication time with small sample particle. In addition to extraction yield, the rate of extraction, energy consumption, yield-to-energy (YER) ratio and yield-to-resource ratio (YRR) were studied to determine the extraction efficiencies of the extractive methods. UAE was determined to have the highest extraction rate at 50.2 mg/g·h and the highest YER at 82.3 mg/(g·W·h). MUAE was observed to consume the highest amount of energy (381.8 W·h) despite producing the highest optimized yield; hence, having the lowest YER and YRR. MAE was determined to have the highest YRR (21.5 mg/[g leaf·g solvent·W·h]) due to having the shortest extraction time. UAE was determined to be the more suitable extraction method of rutin from female papaya leaf. Optimum UAE parameters was observed at 20 min sonication time, 20 % ethanol mixture concentration, 710 μm particle size, and 1:650 wt/wt solid-liquid ratio. This study advances our understanding on the extractability of rutin from the female papaya plant while providing a novel extraction efficiencies determination method using YER and YRR to provide a better overview of the conversion of energy utilization and resource utilization for the four extractive methods

    The present contemporary third generation Nigerian narratives redefine the African woman by portraying the gendered experiences of Nigerian women in opposition to masculinist dominance and oppressive patriarchal norms. Third generation Nigerian writers employ a transgressive and nuanced stance in their addressing of the postcolonial Nigerian woman’s quest for agency and self-definition within the challenging patriarchal spaces. These contemporary writers redress archetypal images of the silent and victimised African woman by reimagining her resilient and agentive role in dismantling the dominant patriarchal constructions in the nation and diaspora. Referring to the selected narratives of Sefi Atta, Tola Rotimi Abraham, Chinelo Okparanta, Abubakar Adam Ibrahim, Adaobi Tricia Nwaubani, Patience Ibrahim, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and Chika Unigwe, this dissertation explores how third generation Nigerian writers deconstruct stereotypical gendered constructions of the African woman. In the aim of filling a gap in the existing African literary scholarship, this research maps Nigerian daughterhood against the patriarchal nation, reads the Nigerian woman’s sexual agency against the homophobia and religious orthodoxy, positions the Nigerian woman’s quest for selfhealing and agency against the masculinist discourse of terrorism, and addresses her quest for global citizenhood within the racialised and gendered topographies of the West. Feminist postcolonial theory is applied alongside womanism, lesbian feminism and Afropolitanism to reframe the African woman’s gendered subjectivity and her quest for agency
