The Pragmatic Use of Hyperbole in Student Communication: A Study among Students at Goce Delcev University
No full textThis paper examines the pragmatic use of hyperbole in the communication of students at Goce Delcev University. Within the framework of pragmatics, hyperbole is understood as an intentional exaggeration employed to achieve specific communicative effects rather than to convey literal meaning. The study focuses on identifying the pragmatic functions of hyperbole in everyday student discourse, particularly its role in expressing emotions, strengthening interpersonal relations, creating humor, and establishing solidarity and group identity among young speakers.
The empirical research was conducted using a questionnaire distributed among university students, collecting data on their perceptions and usage of hyperbolic expressions in informal communication. The analysis explores the frequency, contexts, and communicative purposes of hyperbole, highlighting its function as a discourse strategy characteristic of youth language.
The paper consists of two main parts. The theoretical section provides an overview of key concepts in pragmatics, with particular attention to hyperbole as a pragmatic and rhetorical device, as well as a brief discussion of the main features of youth language. The empirical section presents the research methodology, followed by data analysis, interpretation of results, and concluding remarks. The findings contribute to a better understanding of hyperbole as a pragmatic resource in student communication and its significance in contemporary youth discourse.

Are Croatian Insurance Companies Meeting the Efficiency Frontier?
Full text linkThis paper utilizes Data Envelopment Analysis to assess the relative efficiency of 14 insurance companies in the Republic of Croatia from 2018 to 2022, considering inputs (capital and number of employees) and outputs (net earned
premiums and total investment). Despite an overall sectoral average efficiency of 79.67%, the study reveals a consistent decline in efficiency, interrupted only by a marginal improvement in 2021. Identifying seven relatively efficient and seven inefficient companies, the analysis highlights 2018 as the peak of sector-wide efficiency, contrasting with a decline to its nadir in 2022. The significance of these findings lies in their contribution to both academic understanding and practical implications. The research offers insights by outlining targeted improvement objectives for inefficient insurance companies and guiding management in resource allocation

Probing the Two-Step Double-Regenerative Enzymatic Mechanism by Protein-Film Voltammetry
No full textRedox transformations of many lipophilic proteins and related biochemical systems proceed via sequential two-step electron-transfer processes. In a large number of such systems, sustained catalytic turnover is enabled by regenerative chemical reactions that are coupled to the electron-transfer steps, resulting in complex multistep electrochemical–catalytic behavior. In this work, we present the first theoretical model of a surface-confined two-step double-regenerative mechanism, schematically denoted as a surface EC′EC″ mechanism, formulated under square-wave voltammetry (SWV) conditions. A systematic analysis is carried out to elucidate the combined effects of electron-transfer kinetics, chemical regeneration rates, and instrumental parameters on the resulting square-wave voltammetric response. The simulated voltammeograms reveal distinct mechanistic signatures arising from the interplay between sequential electron-transfer steps and catalytic regeneration at the electrode surface. The findings of this study are particularly relevant for researchers employing experimental protein-film voltammetry, as the model provides a robust theoretical framework for interpreting complex voltammetric responses of lipophilic redox proteins and enzymes. Furthermore, the proposed approach offers a practical platform for establishing diagnostic criteria and for developing quantitative methodologies aimed at extracting kinetic parameters directly related to enzymatic activity and catalytic efficiency in biologically relevant redox systems Forward and backward voltammetric curves of this mechanism are given, simulated for moderate and very fast rates at both electron transfer steps. These voltammograms present playground for deeper insights in the mechanisms in which many redox enzymes undergo redox transformation in living systems
Surgical treatment of lower lip mucocela -case report
No full textIntroduction: Mucocele are one of most common lesions on the lower lip mucosa salivary glands. Their etiology is sub-epithelial accumulation of mucous due to retention or extravasation of mucus from minor salivary glands.
Clinically they appear like an asymptomatic vesicle or bulla with a pink or bluish color. They may be treated in both ways, surgically or non-surgically (cryotherapy). These lesions are often called cysts, but mucoceles are not true
cysts because they have no epithelial lining.
Aim: To emphasize the importance of most appropriate surgical technique selection, in order to perform complete
surgical elimination of pathologic lesion.
Case report: A male, generally healthy patient came to our Clinic with cyst like lesion on lower lip mucosa. He complained of a painless swelling on his lower lip lasting for one year. The patient also had a history of lip-biting. Upon clinical inspection, a soft, round, dome-shaped bluish lesion with a pearly appearance was identified on the left
side of lower labial mucosa. On palpation, the lesion was mobile and non adherent to the underlying tissues. After clinical examination working diagnosis of mucocele was obtained, and surgical excision of a lesion (“in toto”) was planned and later performed. Histopathological analysis was performed which proved our working clinical diagnosis. Conclusion: Complete surgical removal of the mucocele lesions minimize reoccurrence rate of the lesions, and
local tissue scarification.

Management of Dyslipidemia in Patients with Diabetes Mellitus and Cardiovascular Disease
No full textIntroduction: Diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular diseases remain the leading causes of death worldwide. there are approximately
366 million people with diabetes globally, and by 2030, it is projected that this number will reach 520 million, or 6.3% of the
world’s population, affected by diabetes. Dyslipidemia and diabetes are the main contributors to cardiovascular diseases. Diabetic
dyslipidemia is characterized by disturbances in all lipid fractions (increased triglycerides, increased lDl-cholesterol, and low
HDl-cholesterol levels).
Purpose of the study: this study aimed to assess hyperlipidemia as a risk factor for cardiovascular disease in patients with diabetes
Mellitus.
Materials and Methods: the study was a prospective cohort (“cross-sectional”).
Results: a total of 200 participants were included: 100 patients with diabetes mellitus (60 with type 1 and 40 with type 2), and
100 healthy individuals serving as controls. among the diabetes patients (100), 45 (45%) were female, with a mean age of 58.00
± 14.00 years, while 55 (55%) were male, with a mean age of 59.60 ± 12.00 years. the control group comprised 100 voluntary
blood donors, 45 (45%) women and 55 (55%) men, with a mean age of 58.40 ± 13.60 years. the results are shown in the following
tables (numbers 3-6).
Conclusion: Dyslipidemia and hyperglycemia are the principal risk factors and are independent of the development of premature
atherosclerosis and cardiovascular disease. Treating primary or secondary dyslipidemia early is crucial and can significantly help
prevent early atherosclerotic processes and cardiovascular diseases. recent studies on the treatment of dyslipidemia have shown a
strong positive effect of statins (40 mg dose), which appear to help prevent cardiovascular disease

потребата од интегрирање на интеркултурната прагматичка компетенција
кај изучувачите по странски јазици како клучен сегмент во образовниот
процес. Прагматиката, како дисциплина што го проучува јазикот во конкретен
комуникациски контекст, овозможува увид во начинот на кој говорителите од
различни култури ја изразуваат својата намера на културолошки соодветен
и прифатлив начин. Овој проект ги истражува современите пристапи во
интеркултурната прагматика и нивната практична примена во наставата по
германски и англиски јазик како странски јазици, во споредба со македонскиот јазик
и говорните модели на изворните говорители. Истражувањата се фокусираат на
влијанието на културните разлики врз комуникациските стратегии, феноменот на
учтивост и интерпретацијата на говорните чинови во меѓујазичната комуникација.
Применети се теоретски рамки од социопрагматиката, културолошката и
антрополошката анализа на комуникацијата, како и контрастивната прагматика.
Емпириските податоци опфаќаат корпус од автентични дискурси, со цел
идентификација на културно специфични модели и развој на наставни стратегии
за зголемување на прагматичката свесност кај изучувачите на странскиот јазик.
Проектот има оригинален карактер поради тоа што се става акцент на практичната примена на интеркултурната прагматика во наставата и неговата ориентација
кон глобално релевантна и сè уште недоволно истражена тема. Резултатите
имаат потенцијал за значајно унапредување на наставните програми и создавање
наставни модули со применлива вредност за европската и пошироката академска
заедница, отворајќи можности за меѓународна соработка во областа на применетата
лингвистика, наставата по втор странски јазик и интеркултурната комуникација
