Developing Broadcasting Industry Through Glocalisation and Hybridisation
This article is a qualitative descriptive study that examines South Korean and East Africa Audio-visual production and distribution policies and regulations. Through analysing the results of in-depth interviews with audio-visual (broadcast) policymakers, content producers, and audiovisual business owners, this study found that South Korea reviewed regulations and policies that were protectionist in nature to more open and collaborative policies that were in tune with the digital broadcast environment. It recommended that to create successful broadcast industries, developing countries should review their broadcast policies and regulations to be in tandem with digital and media convergence environment as well as give audio-visual industry prominence by establishing ministries that deals with broadcast-related issues to promote locally, to produce content internationally, and also to source for collaboration between local and international producers
Metodologi Kajian Ilmu Dakwah: Analisis Karya Ilmiah pada Fakultas Dakwah dan Komunikasi 1985 – 2015
This article examines the study design and methodology applied in proselytizing science at the Faculty of Proselytizing (Da'wah) and Communication UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya during the period 1985 to 2015. This study analysed the scientific works of the faculty academic staff and students between 1985 and 2003 through the qualitative methodology. The data collected by observation and documentation and analysed through coding, categorizing, and theming procedure. The study found that the methodology used for studying da'wah science can be categorized into five approaches: factor approach, system model or interpretive approaches or understanding the meaning of da'wah for individuals, communities or society, the developmental approach and participatory approach or Participatory Action Research (PAR)
Dakwah Multimedia di Situs Jejaring Sosial Facebook
Abstract: This study discussed the themes of multimedia proselytising on Facebook used by Makassar's preachers as well as the usage of various forms of multimedia to convey messages to audiences (mad'u) through the Facebook social network. This research was a qualitative study using a content analysis approach. The results of the study stated that the themes conveyed by the preachers were aqidah (faith), sharia (Islamic law), akhlak (manner) morals, mu'amalah (dealings between people), and general messages, such as education, behaviour, and defending the country. While the forms of multimedia proselytising used by da'i (Islamic preachers) were the textual message, images, audio, and video. In addition, da'i needed to improve the quality of material and media da'wa by using information technology through internet media in order to get effective communication (da'wah)
Desain Pengembangan Laboratorium Dakwah: Studi Kasus UIN Walisongo Semarang
Abstract: This article is the result of a descriptive qualitative research report in the laboratory of the Da'wah and Communication Faculty, Walisongo State Islamic University (UIN), Semarang. This study has concluded that the design of the Da'wah laboratory at the Da'wah and Communication Faculty of UIN Walisongo Semarang was developed based on the department, which included the Islamic Community Development Laboratory (PMI), the Islamic Communication and Broadcasting Laboratory (KPI), the Da'wah Management Laboratory (MD), the Guidance and Islamic Counseling Laboratory (BPI) In addition, the laboratory development is in line with university Tridharma. The laboratory development phase is carried out through four stages, namely the initiation phase and the construction of a quality management system, the optimization phase of academic support capabilities, the intensification and extensification phase of research services, and the external capacity building phase
Jurnalisme Islam-Profesional dalam Pusaran Politik Identitas: Studi Kasus pada Harian Duta Masyarakat & Harian Bangsa
The 2019 presidential election was considered as an arena for identity-based-politics competition between abangan-moderate Islamic groups versus formal-conservative Islamic groups. The mass media which should be neutral and objective, are trapped in the political arena of identity politics, including Harian Duta Masyarakat and Harian Bangsa. This study reviews in-depth how Harian Duta Masyarakat and Harian Bangsa interpret professional journalism and Islamic journalism amid political support for the presidential election, 2019. With qualitative-descriptive methods, this study found that Harian Duta Masyarakat openly supported Prabowo Sandi, while the Harian Bangsa was a strong supporter of Joko Widodo-Makruf Amien. Both media justified that those decisions were made through professional and ideological reasons
Komunikasi Politik Gerakan #2019GantiPresiden
In the 2019 general election, social media became an important part in building a political image as well as a channel for political communication. One of the opposition movements against the incumbent was the #2019GantiPresiden movement. The movement was a channel of political communication for people who personally wanted to have a new president. This study aimed to reveal how the #2019GantiPresiden political communication movement during 2018 and the repressive treatment experienced by them. This study used a qualitative research method of text analysis of several online media such as Twitter and micro-blogging. The results showed that the #2019GantiPresiden movement was an organic and voluntary based political communication movement. The spread of this movement was increasingly massive with the support of social media in the form of Twitter in building mass political support
Etnografi Dakwah Ulama Rantau pada Etnis Dayak Ngaju di Kalimantan Tengah
This study aims to look at the role of ulama rantau in the process of proselytising (da'wah) in the Ngaju Dayak community, East Kotawaringin town, Central Kalimantan Province, particularly regarding the way ulama deal with a Dayak local culture which deeply remains lived within this community. Using a qualitative research method and the ethnographic approach, the findings revealed that the way ulama rantau conveyed the da'wah messages in a polite manner implicated to Ngaju Dayak ethnic society's acceptance towards Islam. Further, because ulama rantau respected the local cultural wisdom when conveying da’wah, people appreciated Islam brought by ulama (da’i) n the midst of a society which has different beliefs and cultural backgrounds
Dakwah Literasi Ustadz Giovani Van Rega: Analisis Imbauan Pesan Dakwah
This article aims to find out how communication (proselytizing) message appeals in the literacy proselytizing of Ustadz Giovani Van Rega. Using a descriptive qualitative method, this study has revealed that the message appeals used by Ustadz Rega are rational message appeals, appeals of fear, appeal for rewards, and motivational appeals. Ustadz Rega is considered using a rational appeal because he refers to the Qur'an and hadith. While the appeal of fear clearly understood from his statement that Indonesian Muslim youths Islam will suffer from weak faith, physical, science, and weak creativity if they are illiterate. The proposition of the appeal of reward is the more a Muslim well literate, the more honorable he is. Whilts the motivational appeal refers to his that the dakwah of literacy is a necessity in order to be able to conquer the world
Model Komunikasi Konvergensi untuk Perubahan Sosial: Studi Interaksi Warga Kampung dan Kampus UINSA
The institutional transformation of the State Islamic Institute (IAIN) into the State Islamic University of Sunan Ampel (UINSA) Surabaya has generated on social mobility, horizontal mobility in particular, and has changed the communication patterns of the campus community and villagers. This study discusses the sociology of communications of campus community and citizens of Jemur Wonosari post-transformation of UINSA. It has revealed that the villagers tend to perceive the students as the economic symbol rather than as the agent of change. Students have not contributed to socio-cultural and religious development. Therefore, they need to develop self-concept and perception as change agent and contribute to socio-religious change, especially by using convergence model of communication
Dramaturgi Komunikasi Dakwah Para Da’i di Kota Ambon: Pola Pengelolaan Kesan di Panggung Depan
This article discusses the pattern of impression management carried out by the da'i on the front stage in an effort to improve the quality of message transformation to mad’u. Through a good impression management, the persuasion process occurs which allows the conveyed messages to be well received by mad'u with fullly awareness, not by force. Using dramaturgy approach, researchers conducted participatory observation and in-depth interviews towards 15 da'is in Ambon City who were chosen purposively. This study has revealed that during proselytizing, the da'is manage the impression on the front stage by utilizing verbal and nonverbal communication through the management of situational, planned, and spontaneous impressions
