The Evolution of Evolvability.
The Evolution of Evolvability.
poor implementation (but consider the time...); good theoretical ideas:
+there must be embryology of some kind (however simple)
+one-to-one genotype-phenotype mapping bad, as no [little] architectorial bias (/restrictions) toward *good* phenotypes and thus waiting till "kingdom-come"
+recursivity: is a must and similar to natural processes
(first segmented animal was probably not very successful but had high evolutionary potential as can be seen from its descendants)
+"tendency to speciate" (~evolutionary potential) might be a higher level evo property, as species speciate not individual
Evo-Devo: the long and winding road.
Evo-Devo: the long and winding road.
Might be useful for citing:
"The premium
is to understand the big misteries of Biology, such as how cells
divide and animals develop to how evolution took place.
As regards Evo-Devo, uncovering the structure, functioning and
properties of genetic regulatory networks (GRNs) is one of the
greatest challenges of the postgenomic era."
"Repatterning
and redeployment of pre-existing developmental potential within a
novel ecological milieu may have been largely responsible for the
radiation (Erwin, 2000; Conway-Morris, 2003), but invention of new
genes, extensive or non-extensive gene duplication and the expansion
of particular gene families, such as Hox genes, have yet
to be fully explored (Ferrier and Minguill\uc3\u83\uc6\u92\uc3\u86\ue2\u80\u99\uc3\u83\ue2\u80\ua0\uc3\ua2\ue2\u82\uac\ue2\u84\ua2\uc3\u83\uc6\u92\uc3\ua2\ue2\u82\uac \uc3\u83\uc2\ua2\uc3\ua2\ue2\u80\u9a\uc2\uac\uc3\ua2\ue2\u80\u9e\uc2\ua2\uc3\u83\uc6\u92\uc3\u86\ue2\u80\u99\uc3\u83\uc2\ua2\uc3\ua2\ue2\u80\u9a\uc2\uac\uc3\u85\uc2\ua1\uc3\u83\uc6\u92\uc3\ua2\ue2\u82\uac\uc5\ua1\uc3\u83\ue2\u80\u9a\uc3\u82\uc2\ub3n, 2003).
