    Profil Pemahaman Konsep Siswa pada Materi Sistem Persamaan Linier Tiga Variabel Ditinjau dari Gaya Kognitif

    Understanding of the concept is needed in studying mathematics, including the topic of the Three Variable Linear Equation System (SPLTV). In fact, there are still many students who don't understand the basic concepts well. The research subjects were students in grade 10 high school, each consisting of one student with field independent and field dependent cognitive style. The research instrument which were used consisted of a concept understanding test and interview guidelines. Data analysis was done through data reduction procedures, data exposure, and making conclusions. The resulting research showed that the field independent students understanding to the concept of SPLTV, namely students stated that the meaning of SPLTV used their own language without being stuck with the notation from SPLTV and students gave examples and non-examples of SPLTV. In addition, in solving problems students are able to use the SPLTV concept well. As the results of the research, the students' understanding of field dependent on the concept of SPLTV is that students explained that the notion of SPLTV was still stuck with the notation of the existing SPLTV and students give examples and non-examples of SPLTV. Moreover, in solving problems, students are less able to use the SPLTV concept well

    Pengembangan Model Concept Sentence Learning Berbasis Budaya Multietnis untuk Memfasilitasi Pemahaman Konsep dan Kepedulian Sosial Siswa

    This study aims to develop a learning model to facilitate students' ability to understand mathematical concepts and character of social care. The developmental research of this study three phases, namely Preliminary research phase development or prototyping phase and assessment phase. The subjects the first trial involved one school and for the second trial involved four junior high schools in Singkawang City which consisted of various ethnicities. In the development stages,a multi-ethnic culture-based concept sentence learning model was produced and learning tools such as lesson plans and worksheets.The instruments used for the feasibility of the model were the validation sheet, the observation sheet, the ability to comprehend the concept, the questionnaire sheet.The results showed that the multiethnic culture-based concept sentence learning model was feasible because it met three criteria:1)valid based on the assessment experts and practitioners,2)practically seen from the results of observations of implementation and student responses to learning and 3)effective in activating students, achieving completeness and fostering the character of student social care

    Pengaruh Model Pembelajaran Learning Cycle 5E terhadap Kemampuan Pemecahan Masalah Matematika Ditinjau dari Adversity Quotient Siswa

    Problem-solving skill is required by students and a target in studying mathematics. However, the problem-solving skill of Indonesian students are lacking. One effort that can be done is applying the Model of Learning Cycle 5E. This research discussed the influence of the implementation of the learning cycle model on mathematics problem-solving skill viewed from students adversity quotient. This research used a quantitive approach, quasi-experimental study. The subjects were the 8th Grade students of SMP IT Ash-Shiddiiqi Jambi, consisting of two experiment classes and one control class. The instruments were post-test and adversity quotient questionnaire modified by Stoltz and had been validated by experts. Data analysis was conducted by Two-Way ANOVA. The results showed that there was no interaction between the learning cycle 5E model and mathematics problem-solving skill. This finding indicates that the model of learning cycle 5E affects problem-solving skills and can be applied to students with all types of adversity quotient

    The Effectiveness of SAVI Approach-based Teaching Materials Oriented to Mathematical Connection Ability

    This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of SAVI approach-based teaching materials developed for mathematical connection ability. This study was research and development. The subjects were 36 Grade 8 students and a mathematics teacher and the objects were the SAVI approach-based teaching materials oriented to the mathematical connection ability. The effectiveness of the teaching materials measured by four aspects: (1) the observation of the teacher's ability to manage the learning should at least be in the "good" category, (2) six of the eight aspects of students activities are within the ideal time interval, (3) the students' mastery learning are fulfilled both individually and classically, and (4) the student and teacher questionnaire responses show positive responses. The results revealed that the effectiveness criteria were fulfilled. The observation of the teacher's ability to manage the learning was in the very good category (4.22). The student activities in learning was within the threshold for achieving the ideal time. Also, The students mathematical connection ability satisfied the mastery learning individually and classically (84.11%). The teacher and student questionnaire responses showed positive responses. Thus, the SAVI approach-based teaching materials oriented to mathematical connection ability are feasible as a learning resource for students in learning mathematics

    Hambatan Epistimologis Siswa dalam Menyelesaikan Masalah Sistem Persamaan Linear Dua Variabel

    Many students make mistakes in solving mathematical problems, including the problem of the System of Linear Equations in Two Variables (SLETV). This research was a descriptive study using a qualitative research approach to analyze students' epistemological obstacles in solving SLETV problems. The respondents of this study were 53 Year 9 students of SMP Islam Raudlotul Hikmah who had learned SLETV. The instrument used was a mathematical problem-solving ability test and interview guideline. The data analysis was conducted by analyzing the answers of 53 respondents to three types of epistemological obstacles. Five respondents were also interviewed to find out more about the obstacles that occurred. The results showed three types of students' epistemological obstacles in solving SLETV problems: conceptual obstacle, procedural obstacle, and operational, technical obstacle. The findings of epistemological obstacles in this study showed the same pattern as previous research findings, although the material was different. Thus, it can be used as a basis for teachers to improve learning strategies related to SLETV and other mathematical materials

    Kerjasama Mahasiswa dalam Pembelajaran Kooperatif Tipe Jigsaw pada Mata Kuliah Pengantar Aljabar

    The lecture on algebra has not involved students in working together. Thus, one effort that can be done is implementing the jigsaw cooperative learning model. This study aims to describe the student collaboration activities in the introduction to algebra course using the jigsaw cooperative learning. This research is a quantitative descriptive study. The subjects were 32 first semester students of 2019 who were enrolled in the introduction to algebra course in the Mathematics Education Study Program, FMIPA, Universitas Negeri Malang. The instrument in this study was an observation sheet of student activities, and the supporting data were the results of individual exercises. Data were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that student collaboration activities in the jigsaw cooperative learning in the introduction to algebra course were very good, as indicated by the average score of students in completing individual exercise problems was 90. Thus, it can be concluded that the selection of an appropriate learning model can enhance student collaboration in learning abstract mathematical concepts

    The Effect of Think Pair Check Model on Students Understanding of Mathematical Concepts in Terms of Cognitive Style

    This quasi-experimental research aims to determine the effect of Think Pair Check (TPC) learning models on understanding of mathematical concepts in terms of cognitive style. A purposive sampling technique was used to select a sample of 54 students from a junior high school in Patamuan sub-district, Indonesia. The data were obtained from mathematical concept understanding tests and Group Embedded Figure Test (GEFT) to determine students' cognitive styles. Data were analyzed using t-test. The findings indicated that students who learned using TPC method had a better understanding of concepts than those learning using the conventional model. Furthermore, the TPC learning model positively influenced the understanding of mathematical concepts of students with the Field Independent cognitive style but had no influence on students with the Field Dependent cognitive style. Therefore, the TPC learning model can be used to improve the understanding of mathematical concepts, especially for students with the Field Independent cognitive style

    Pengaruh Model Pembelajaran Pair Cheks Berbasis Tugas Pengajuan Masalah terhadap Kemampuan Pemecahan Masalah Matematis Siswa

    The students' problem solving ability is low. One effort that can be done is to implement the pair checks type of cooperative learning. This study aims to determine the effect of the pair checks type of cooperative learning based on the task of problem posing on students' mathematical problem solving abilities. This research is a quasi experimental research. The population of this study were students of grade 8. The sample consisted of two classes selected by random sampling. The instruments used in this study were test and questionnaire. The data were obtained from the results of the post test after implement the pair check type of cooperative learning. Data were analyzed using t-test. The results showed that there was a significant effect of the pair checks type of cooperative learning based on the task of problem posing on students' mathematical problem solving abilitie. In addition, there was a difference in the increase indicated by the N-gain value in the experimental clas. Therefore, the pair checks type of cooperative learning based on the task of problem posingan effect on improving students' problem-solving abilities

    Analisis Kesalahan Siswa dalam Menilai Kebenaran Suatu Pernyataan

    The reasonings students provided in assessing the truth of a statement still show many mistakes. Therefore, this present research aimed to find the students errors in judging the truth of a statement. The present research employed a qualitative approach, and the participants were 10th-grade senior high school students in one of Lumajang district. This research instrument consisted of three questions demanding evaluative abilities. The findings showed that the students made three kinds of errors reasoning in judging the truth of the statements, which are conceptual errors, principle errors, and factual errors. This study is implied to the Mathematics teachers to provide students opportunities to construct definitions, distinguish the differences among the characteristics of two and three-dimensional figures, and to explain the meaning of mathematical symbols in various contexts to avoid conceptual errors, principle errors, and factual errors
