MODEL SPASIAL DEFORESTASI DI KABUPATEN KONAWE UTARA DAN KONAWE PROVINSI SULAWESI TENGGARA
Deforestation is now becoming a global concern due to its effect on the global warming. This paper describes a dynamic change of deforestation and spatial modeling for predicting deforestation in North Konawe and Konawe Districts, Southeast Sulawesi Porvince. The study objective is to examine and analyze the variety of explanatory variables related to the process of deforestation at each deforestation typology. The data used for the analysis include Multitemporal Landsat images acquired in 1997, 2000, 2005, 2010 and 2013, the existing land cover maps published by the Ministry of Forestry, statistical data and ground truth. All district within the study area were classified into two typologies on the basis of social and economic factors by using clustering approaches, i.e., low-speed and high-speed deforestation district. To analyze model and predictions using land cover data in 2005, 2010 and 2013. The study found that the spatial model of deforestation for low-speed deforestation area is Logit (Deforestation) =– 1.0998 – 0.017031*Kpd05(population density) – 0.000095*JJ(distance from road) – 0.000419*JS(distance from the river) – 0.002057*JH05(distance from forest edge) – 0.00001*JPmk05(distance from settlements) – 0.000019*JPlc05(distance to the mixture of dry land agriculture)+0.016305*S(slope)+0.084348*E(elevation), high-speed deforestation area is Logit (Deforestation) =– 1.2361– 0.062622*Kpd05(population density) – 0.000008*JJ(distance from road) – 0.00001*JS(distance from the river) – 0.005443*JH05(distance from forest edge) – 0.000077*JPmk05(distance from settlements) – 0.000067*JPlc05(distance to the mixture of dry land agriculture)+0.469883*S(slope)+0.300739*E(elevation). The low-speed and high-speed deforestation models had ROC (Relative Operating Characteristics) of 93.48% and 97.71%, respectively. The study concludes that typology could be made on the basis of population density and the amount of dry land with wetland. The results of this study showed that there are eight explanatory variables that significantly affect deforestation probability, namely population density, distance from road, distance to the river distance from the forest edge, distance to settlement, distance to the mixture of dryland agriculture, slope, elevation and. POTENSI DAYA TARIK DAN PERSEPSI PENGUNJUNG TERHADAP EKOWISATA LAUT DI PULAU HARAPAN, TAMAN NASIONAL LAUT KEPULAUAN SERIBU (TNKpS)
Harapan Island is the area of the island situated in the settlement of the KepulauanSeribu Marine National Park (TNKpS). The abundance of natural resources of the sea and the beauty of the natural landscape into a tourist attraction to this location, so it looks the existence value of benefits and high economic value. This study done to assess the potential of natural resources to be the object of ecotourism activities in the Harapan island KepulauanSeribu Marine National Park (TNKpS), as well as assess the perceptions of visitors who do the activities of ecotourism in the location to know how the assessment of visitors to the satisfaction felt.Research conducted in december 2014 until april 2015, using a questionnaire, interviews and observations roomy to look at the location and the availability of the object of attraction.The results that the visitors who come to the location of the Harapan island in the dominant is the visitors who come in groups, and visitors can feel satisfied with what they get from ecotourism activities in the Harapan island. Harapan island of being the places are in the zone TNKpS settlement with the potential of natural resources abiotik (23,43%), algae (19,66%), hard corals (50,07%), soft corals (0,00%), corals die (3,24%), and biota other (3,60%).But as the object to the main tourist activities in the island of hope that is the beauty of the sea, coral reefs, ornamental fish and as tourist attraction of maritime and coastal tourist attractive to visitors.Based on the results of research, the latest data in TNKpS known that there are 36 the type of coral reefs and 56 kind of ornamental fish in the Harapan island. PEMETAAN KESESUAIAN HABITAT Rafflesia rochussenii Teijsm. et Binn. DI RESORT TAPOS TAMAN NASIONAL GUNUNG GEDE PANGRANGO
The research was carried out in Tapos Resort Mounts Gede Pangrango National Park (MGPNP). This study was aimed to identify physical factors which highly influence habitat suitability of R. rochussenii, to determine habitat suitability model and develop spatial mapp of habitat suitability area of the species. The research used physical variables of the habitat as follows : altitude, slope, LAI (Leaf Area Index) and distance from river. Spatial analysis was conducted using ArcGIS 9.3 and Erdas Imagine 9.1 softwares, while photo analysis to determine LAI was done using Hemiview 2.1. Model weighting were determined using Principal Component Analysis. Based on the Principal Component Analysis, three principal components with characteristic vectors 1.358; 1.079 and 0.908 were obtained. Pysical habitat factors which gave significant effect on habitat suitability model were slope and altitude. The following was the model used to determine habitat suitability in Tapos Resort MGPNP : Habitat suitability cumulative (Y) = (1.358 x Slope) + (1.079 x LAI) + (1.079 x Dintance from river) + (0.908 x Altitude). The result showed that there were 289.44 ha of high suitability habitat; 623.34 ha of medium suitability habitat and 213.75 ha of low suitability habitat. It was concluded that the habitat suitability map of R. rochussenii can be accepted with validation score of 96.26% for the high habitat suitability. KEARIFAN TRADISIONAL PERLINDUNGAN DAN PEMANFAATAN SUMBERDAYA HUTAN OLEH SUKU KANUME DI TAMAN NASIONAL WASUR
Wasur National Park (TN Wasur), which is located in Merauke Papua, is one of 50 national parks in Indonesia. In the international scale, the TN Wasur are on track migratory birds from the northern hemisphere (Siberia, North China and Japan) to the southern hemisphere (Australia) or otherwise. TN Wasur is a place to stop and migration destination for migrant birds (Scolopacidae and Charadriidae), as well as the habitat of endemic birds, birds of the Trans-Fly (Indonesia-Papua New Guinea) and the marsupial animals (marsupials). The ethnic of Kanume is one of the indigenous communities who have long been living in TN Wasur, which has the largest region in Wasur, about 305.312 ha. The ethnic of Kanume has specific rules and traditional wisdom in managing lands of the ulayat. The ulayat lands are managed by the clans in the ethnic of Kanume. The results showed that the people of clans in the Kanume ethnic have a custom rules and wisdom in terms of protection and utilization of forest resources. Clans in the ethnic of Kanume has ownership rights at the ulayat land to protect and exploit resources that there can be found sacred places, the old village, the well nature, hamlet of sago, and places the ancestral journey. In traditional wisdom and resource utilization, the ethnic of Kanume have a culture that supports the management of the forest resource. This can be seen by the existence of the Division of conception space based on the area of ulayat customs, the system of mastery and ownership of land, Sasi system and the belief of Totem (Totemism). PERMINTAAN WISATA ALAM DI KAWASAN PELESTARIAN ALAM DI BOGOR
Information on tourist demand is an important key in planning the management and development of nature tourism area. The research was aimed at identifying nature tourism demand in national park (NP) and nature tourism park (NTP) in Bogor. Data was collected through literature study and questionnaires dissemination to 102 respondents of NP and NTP visitors. Result showed that there were differences between the demand of NP and NTP visitors on the characteristic of dominant age group, visiting reasons, demand of activity and facilities, visiting time, and type of visitor based on their visit to the location (repeater or first timer). Visitors of NP and NTP in Bogor were dominated by domestic tourist from Jabotabek region, and the highest number visitors were male. PEMANFAATAN DAN UPAYA KONSERVASI KAYU PUTIH (Asteromyrtus symphyocarpa) DI TAMAN NASIONAL WASUR
Asteromyrtus symphyocarpa synonym with Melaleluca symphyocarpa of the Myrtaceae family is an endemic plant at Northern Australia, South Papua (Indonesia,) and Papua New Guinea. Wasur National Park (South Papua District, Papua, Indonesia) is one of A.symphyocarpa’s distribution areasTwo villages in Wasur National Park, namely Yanggandur Village and Rawa BiruVillage have been performing utilization of A. symphyocarpa with the process of distillation. Today, the utilization of A. Symphyocarpa has become one of livelihoods sources for the peoples in this region. However, A. symphyocarpain Wasur National Park was facing a high level of threats, the mostly are: habitat destruction, habitat fragmentation, habitat degradation, and the invasion of alien species. This paper was aimedat exploringother potential uses of A. symphyocarpa in addition to its essential oil and also to formulate conservation efforts in Wasur National Park. The analysis is was done through literature studies and authors’ experiences. An alternative solution to preserve this species is was to developmentof stakeholders’ participation. PREFERENSI DAN PENDUGAAN PRODUKTIVITAS PAKAN ALAMI POPULASI GAJAH SUMATERA (Elephas maximus sumatranus Temmick, 1847) DI HUTAN PRODUKSI KHUSUS (HPKh) PUSAT LATIHAN GAJAH (PLG) SEBELAT, BENGKULU UTARA
The isolation of habitat, shrinking of natural habitat and diminishing of habitat quality have increased conflicts between man and elephant to utilize space and abundance of food. This research was carried out from April to June 2007 in Seblat Training Centre for Elephants. The objectives of this research were to recognize the potential of food plants for the elephants, the productivity of food plants, types and parts of food plants favoured by the elephants, and preferential of specific food plants and feeding behaviour. The analysis was conducted by means of vegetation analysis, through cutting and pruning parts of feeding plants, studying them and running statistical procedures to acquire conclusions about the food plant species. The analysis was followed by observing the feeding behaviour of the elephants on foot. Ground plant species which were potential as elephants’ feed comprised of 36 species, 29 spesies at seedling level, 26 species at sapling level, 24 species at pole level and 29 species at tree level. The highest productivity for sapling and pole levels are Leea indica and for seedling level is Gigantochloa cf. atroviolacea. The feeding plants of elephants comprises of 245 species from which 11 parts of the plants preferred by the elephants. Gigantochloa cf. atroviolacea and Stachyphrynium sp were the most favored plant species, indicated by the highest preferential index. PERSEBARAN DAN TIPE HABITAT BEKANTAN (Nasalis larvatus) DI KABUPATEN BARITO KUALA, KALIMANTAN SELATAN
Although proboscis monkey (Nasalis larvatus) is one of protected animals and is stated as the identity fauna of South Kalimantan Province, its distribution in this province is poorly documented. The main objectives of the preliminary reserach were to understand distribution and habitat type of proboscis monkey inhabiting Barito Kuala District. The results show that: 1) population of proboscis monkeys is a minimum 0f 289 individuals and 22,14% of this population inhabits the protected areas, 2) habitat types are not only mangrove forest and riparian forest, there are factors affecting positively and negatively on conservation of probosics monkey. Some negative factors are conversion of galam forest to be rice yeld, negative attitude of people on proboscis monkey sustainable, lack of people knowledge on this animals status and opinion that this animal is a pest
Upaya Konservasi Cendrawasih Kecil (Paradisaea minor Shaw, 1809) YANG DILAKUKAN OLEH TAMAN BURUNG TMII DAN MBOF
Ex situ conservation is one of the ways to save wildlife animal include lesser bird of paradise. Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) Bird Park and Mega Bird And Orchid Farm (MBOF) were two institutions that support ex-situ conservation program with different purposes. TMII Bird Park has non-commercial purpose breeding, while MBOF has commercial purpose in captivity breeding. The objectives of this research were to describe the management of captive breeding of lesser bird of paradise with the influencing factor for captive breeding success and the daily behavior of lesser bird of paradise in the cage. This research was conducted from March until April 2015. Focal animal sampling and one zero sampling methods were employed to observe daily behavior. The results showed that in both locations there were two kind of cages for lesser bird of paradise display cage and quarantine cage. The temperature in the TMII Bird Park display cage was 25,51⁰C, meanwhile the temperature in the MBOF display cage was 22,68⁰C. There were not differences in management between the two locations, included management of cage, feed, care and health. Two institutions did not success for captive breeding lesser bird of paradise. NILAI EKONOMI JASA LINGKUNGAN KAWASAN KARST GUA GUDAWANG
The economic value of Gudawang Cave are still limestone product (goods) which gotten from mining activities and environtment product (service) that has been used as new area of tourism development. Other environmental services such as source of water and fauna habitat have not been used optimally and provide economic value to society yet. The research question is how is the utilization of Gudawang Cave area as economical-ecology can be optimal and sustainable. It is necessary to determine of the economic value of environmental services as the basis for its management and utilization. The economic value of Cave Gudawang environmental services which was calculated in this study was the economic value of the Cave Gudawang as a source of water, as bat habitat (as pest control and fertilizer guano) based Market Based Approach; and tourism economic value by using the Individual Travel Cost Method approach. Result of the study showed that the economic value of Gudawang Cave karst area environmental services was Rp. 1.222.673.877,00/year. This value were from the value of benefits water Rp. 1.060.680.000,00, the value of bats as pest control was Rp. 10.800.000,00, economic value of guano Rp. 2.403.744,00 and economic value of tourism Rp. 148.790.133,00.
