Aspects of Gender Mainstreaming of Family and Work in Austria
OECD regularly carries out surveys in its member states to assess their recent economicperformance. For the preparation of the 2015 survey focusing on gender mainstreaming offamily and work arrangements in challenging times, an OECD team conducted a “factfindingmission” at the Federal Chancellery in Vienna. The mission team approachedseveral researchers and policy makers in order to discuss the recent situation in Austria. The team circulated a strategy note, including a detailed outline of the planned survey, aiming at stimulating scientific and policy-relevant exchanges. In order to discuss theoutline of the mission document concerning fertility, migration and the triangularinteraction between labour market participation, well-being and parenthood/fertility, Isummarized insights from empirical research for Austria based a review of the existingliterature. This summary was provided to the OECD team and constituted the major inputfor discussion

EPTA report 2021: lessons from the COVID19 pandemic
The COVID-19 pandemic has been a crisis for health, economy and society. At the sametime, it has acted like a pressure cooker for a range of developments in society, such as the acceleration of digitalisation of education, work, and our social lives. Moreover, it has underscored the importance and challenge of democratic and evidence-based political decision-making. Politicians had to deal with scientific uncertainty and normative issues, such as taking measures that have far-reaching consequences for citizens. Science, technology and innovation (STI) have played a crucial role in this crisis. How did governments in different countries respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, and how did they use STI to combat the crisis? What are the emerging issues that need to be dealt with in a post-COVID world? In this report, we address these question

Hierarchical model reduction driven by a proper orthogonal decomposition for parametrized advection-diffusion-reaction problems. ETNA - Electronic Transactions on Numerical Analysis
This work combines the Hierarchical Model (HiMod) reduction technique with a standard Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (POD) to solve parametrized partial differential equations for the modeling of advection-diffusion-reaction phenomena in elongated domains (e.g., pipes). This combination leads to what we define as HiPOD model reduction, which merges the reliability of HiMod reduction with the computational efficiency of POD. Two HiPOD techniques are presented and assessed by an extensive numerical verification
