In einigen Einrichtungen existieren Wissenstransferprozesse.
BiblioCon 2023 in Hannover vorgestellt
Expert Perspectives on the Additional Benefit of Day Hospices and Palliative Day Care Clinics in Germany: A Qualitative Approach
Background: In Germany, hospice and palliative care is well covered through inpatient, outpatient, and home-based care services. It is unknown if, and to what extent, there is a need for additional day care services to meet the specific needs of patients and caregivers.
Methods: Two day hospices and two palliative day care clinics were selected. In the first step, two managers from each facility (n = 8) were interviewed by telephone, using a semi-structured interview guide. In the second step, four focus groups were conducted, each with three to seven representatives of hospice and palliative care from the facilities’ hospice and palliative care networks. Interviews and focus groups were audio recorded, transcribed verbatim and analyzed using qualitative content analysis.
Results: The interviewed experts perceived day care services as providing additional patient and caregiver benefits. Specifically, the services were perceived to meet patient needs for social interaction and bundled treatments, especially for patients who did not fit into inpatient settings (due to, e.g., their young age or a lack of desire for inpatient admission). The services were also perceived to meet caregiver needs for support, providing short-term relief for the home care situation.
Conclusions: The results suggest that inpatient, outpatient, and home-based hospice and palliative care services do not meet the palliative care needs of all patients. Although the population that is most likely to benefit from day care services is assumed to be relatively small, such services may meet the needs of certain patient groups more effectively than other forms of care
How to develop a secure PROFINET device : Organizational and technical OT security measures during the development of PROFINET devices
The PROFINET protocol has been extended in the current version to include security functions. This allows flexible network architectures with the consideration of OT security requirements to be designed for PROFINET, which were not possible due to the network segmentation previously required. In addition to the manufacturers of the protocol stacks, component manufacturers are also required to provide a secure implementation in their devices. The necessary measures go beyond the use of a secure protocol stack. Using the example of an Ethernet-APL transmitter with PROFINET communication, this article shows which technical and organizational conditions will have to be considered by PROFINET device manufacturers in the future
Visualisierung komplexer Netzwerke
Networks of entities (persons, locations, abstract objects) as well as relations between these entities play a crucial role in many application contexts. Mathematically speaking networks can be regarded as graphs. Network visualization – or graph drawing – helps human beings to understand their information content and detect, for example, inherent patterns. In this contribution applications from bioinformatics and IT security are presented together with their respective challenges. A special focus will be laid on the question how these challenges, such as the network dynamics, influence the choice of visual means
Unsupervised Methods for Domain Specific Ambiguity Detection. The Case of German Physics Language
Many terms used in physics have a different meaning or usage pattern in general language, constituting a learning barrier in physics teaching. The systematic identification of such terms is considered to be useful for science education as well as for terminology extraction. This article compares three methods based on vector semantics and a simple frequency-based baseline for automatically identifying terms used in general language with domain-specific use in physics. For evaluation, we use ambiguity scores from a survey among physicists and data about the number of term senses from Wiktionary. We show that the so-called Vector Initialization method obtains the best results
Cost-Effectiveness of Inter-Professional Collaboration to Reduce Hospitalisations in Nursing Home Residents: Results from the German Interprof ACT Trial
Background: The German multi-centre cluster-randomised controlled trial interprof ACT investigated interventions to increase inter-professional collaboration between nursing home (NH) staff and local general practitioners to reduce hospitalisations and improve nursing homes residents’ (NHRs) quality of life. The trial was funded by the German Health Care Innovation Fund.
Methods: Cost-effectiveness of interprof ACT interventions was evaluated and compared to current standard of care (SOC) over 12 months, including 622 NHRs in 34 NHs in Germany. Multiplying resource use of healthcare services with German-specific unit costs generated costs. Health outcome was measured in quality-adjusted life-years QALYs), utility by multiplying EQ-5D-5L values with German-specific utility weights. Incremental cost-effectiveness analysis used an intention-to-treat approach and scenario analyses (SAs). Net-benefit-regression and cost-effectiveness acceptability curves addressed uncertainty. A German healthcare insurance perspective was assumed.
Results: Base case results showed non-significant cost savings of 851.88€ and non-significant QALY loss of –0,056.
Discussion: Dependency levels at baseline were non-significantly higher in IG compared to control group (CG). Lack of baseline costing data eliminated possibility to evaluate changes in costs due to the interprof ACT measures for both groups.
Conclusion: Interprof ACT interventions are not cost-effective compared to current SOC
Research Data Center on Health – Vision for Further Development from the Research Perspective
The German research data center for health will provide claims data of statutory health insurances. The data center was set up at the medical regulatory body BfArM pursuant to the German data transparency regulation (DaTraV). The data provided by the center will cover about 90 % of the German population, supporting research on healthcare issues, including questions of care supply, demand and the (mis-)match of both. These data support the development of recommendations for evidence-based healthcare. The legal framework for the center (including §§ 303a-f of Book V of the Social Security Code and two subsequent ordinances) leaves a considerable degree of freedom when it comes to organisational and procedural aspects of the center’s operation. The present paper addresses these degrees of freedom. From the point of view of researchers, ten statements show the potential of the data center and provide ideas for its further and sustainable development
Usability Assessment as a Participatory Method for Implementing Technical Innovations in Nursing Care
For the introduction of technical nursing care innovations, a usability assessment survey is conducted by nursing staff. The questionnaire is used before and after the introduction of technical products. This poster contribution shows the latest comparison of pre- and post-surveys on selected products
Biopolymers - facts and statistics 2022
One of the main concerns of this publication is to furnish a more rational basis for discussing bioplastics and use fact-based arguments in the public discourse. Furthermore, “Biopolymers – facts and statistics” aims to provide specific, qualified answers easily and quickly for decision-makers in particular from public administration and the industrial sector. Therefore, this publication is made up like a set of rules and standards and largely foregoes textual detail. It offers extensive market-relevant and technical facts presented in graphs and charts, which means that the information is much easier to grasp. The reader can expect comparative market figures for various materials, regions, applications, process routes, agricultural land use, water use or resource consumption, production capacities, geographic distribution, etc
