No full textDer Erfahrungs- und Handlungsraum des Archivs hat mit den ihm eigenen Zwecken im menschlichen Alltag seinen Ursprung: Es gibt eine »Sphäre des Archivischen«, welche die institutionellen Archive umgibt und über sie hinausweist. In diesem Beitrag wird auf zwei Situationen individuellen Lebens eingegangen, in denen ein Umgang mit der Vergangenheit anhand materieller Überreste stattfindet, ganz gleich, ob es sich jeweils um Schriftstücke, Bilder oder Gegenstände handelt: beim Wohnen mit ›Dingen von früher‹ und bei der Suche nach Wahrheit aufgrund eines Schicksalsschlags, von dem man nicht loskommt. Die Lebensnähe des Archivs, die hier exemplarisch sichtbar wird, steht in einem gewissen Kontrast zu charakteristischen Eigenschaften der institutionellen Archive: Archivalien werden im Interesse des Erhalts in sicheren Depots gelagert, und sie besitzen in ihrer Absonderung die Aura des Originalen.The archive, understood as a place of experience and action, has its own set of purposes rooted in daily life. There is an «archival sphere», surrounding and going beyond the professionally organized archival services. In this chapter, two types of personal life situations will be treated in which we are dealing with the past by using material remnants, whether they are writings, images or objects. The situations to be discussed are, firstly, living with things of the past and, secondly, seeking the truth after a stroke of fate that we are not able to leave behind. In view of these examples it turns out that archival attitudes are, in their origin, close to real life. This forms a contrast to peculiar characteristics of archival institutions: Archival records are locked away and stored safely in a depot for preservation, and they have the aura of unique documents
Radikale Rhetorik: Wie Jair Bolsonaro LGBTIQ*-Personen und -Themen aus dem öffentlichen Diskurs Brasiliens auszugrenzen versucht
Get PDFIm vorliegenden Beitrag wird die Rhetorik des amtierenden brasilianischen Präsidenten Jair Bolsonaro analysiert. Diese zeichnet sich durch eine extreme Härte und Rücksichtslosigkeit aus. Regelmäßig attackiert Bolsonaro Homosexuelle und Trans*-Personen, beruft sich dabei aber auf Familie, Anstand und gute Sitten. Zentrales Element seines Feindbilds ist die Sexualpädagogik, die er systematisch mit dem Stigmawort Pädophilie in Verbindung bringt. Unter Rückgriff auf den Diskurshistorischen Ansatz (DHA) nach Ruth Wodak und Martin Reisigl, der die Analyse von Sprache im Kontext ermöglicht, werden im Folgenden Kongressreden, Tweets und Blogposts untersucht. Im Mittelpunkt stehen dabei diskriminierende Strategien der Referenz und Prädikation, die sich gegen Menschen richten, die Bolsonaro aufgrund ihrer sexuellen Orientierung oder Geschlechtsidentität aus dem öffentlichen Diskurs auszugrenzen versucht.This article analyzes the offensive rhetoric of Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro. Bolsonaro regularly attacks homosexuals and trans*people, while referring to family, decency and good morals. He systematically relates sexual education – a key aspect of his enemy image – to the stigma word pedophilia. Using the Discourse-Historical Approach (DHA) according to Ruth Wodak and Martin Reisigl, which enables the analysis of language in context, this article examines congress speeches, tweets and blog posts. The focus is on discriminatory strategies of reference and predication directed against people whom Bolsonaro wants to exclude from public discourse because of their sexual orientation or gender identity

Get PDFThe study of Amharic presents German-speaking students with a rather difficult task. In addition to a new writing system and some unfamiliar sounds, they have to learn many grammatical structures that differ significantly from those found in the German language. This is especially true of the Amharic verbal system, which is characterized by a great variety of forms, some of which—the relative verbal form, the gerundive, or the qualifying copula constructions—do not exist in German. In addition, Amharic differs greatly from German in the arrangement of the elements within a sentence. These syntactic differences are a great challenge when learning Amharic. Thus, this article describes a method of learning some elements of Amharic syntax, making them more accessible to students. In order to make the grammatical structures visible, the word symbols developed by the Italian doctor and teacher Maria Montessori are used as aids. The individual types of words in a sentence are represented by symbols, for instance verbs by a red circle, nouns by a black triangle, or adjectives by a blue triangle, thus illustrating the word order and facilitating language learning

Implementing an Intervention into a Grade Six Learning Environment: A Design-Based Research Framework
Get PDFEducators in some Canadian schools are especially challenged in developing innovative pedagogical approaches that can intellectually engage their students in deep learning of core curriculum content, while equipping them with 21st century competencies. In this paper, we discuss some key ideas on how an intervention, the design and building of digital video games, was implemented and explored, to address this challenge, in four grade 6 social studies classes at a Calgary charter school, utilizing a design-based research framework. Findings revealed that: (i) to effectively implement this intervention in the classroom context, teachers needed to shift/modify their design of instructional activities compared to how they would normally design them in their social studies classes to teach the same chosen content; and (ii) the intervention, as implemented, seem to have the potential to be an effective innovative pedagogy for deep learning and one that promotes the intellectual engagement of students and their development and application of 21st century competencies. Some implications of these findings for the implementation of interventions in school, in terms of transforming the classroom environment, assessing the type of theoretical support needed, using design-based research as an effective framework to study how interventions and developing policy for the implementation of interventions are listed for K-12 educators, school jurisdictions and Alberta Education
