The Mirror of Intelligence and the Controversy on Christ’s Unction in the Ethiopian Church

Full text linkThis article analyses the literary strategies which bring the historical-political and socio-cultural space of Somalia closer to the Italian context of reception in Fra-intendimenti (2010) and Dalmar. La disfavola degli elefanti (2019) by Kaha Mohamed Aden. The concept of the text as structural space according to Jurij Lotman, those of ethno- and mediascapes according to Arjun Appadurai, the paratext by Gérard Genette and referentiality according to Ralf Simon are employed to highlight not only the spacial-literary techniques and their implications, but also a diachronic development from a strong presentialisation of Somalia in Fra-Intendimenti to a metaphorical abstraction of Somalia in Dalmar, which leads to a more general conception of social space.Questo articolo analizza le strategie letterarie attraverso cui viene avvicinato lo spazio storico-politico e socioculturale della Somalia al contesto della ricezione italiana in Fra-intendimenti (2010) e Dalmar. La disfavola degli elefanti (2019) di Kaha Mohamed Aden. Ricorrendo ai concetti di testo come spazio strutturale (Jurij Lotman), ethno- e mediascapes (Arjun Appadurai), paratesto (Gérard Genette) e referenzialità (Ralf Simon), si mettono in evidenza non solo le tecniche spazio-letterarie e le loro implicazioni, ma anche lo sviluppo diacronico relativo a un’iniziale, forte presenzializzazione della Somalia in Fra-intendimenti a un’astrazione metaforica della Somalia stessa in Dalmar che porta a una concezione dello spazio sociale maggiormente generalizzabile

Afterword: Jewish Agency and Iridescence in Heritage-Making Processes
Full text linkThe afterword reflects on the various contributions in this special issue of Ethnoscripts, which explores the dynamics of contemporary Jewish agency in the context of Jewish cultural heritage. It emphasises the complexities and tensions that arise as Jewish subjects engage with their heritage, highlighting negotiations within communities, intergenerational dialogues, and the interplay between State and minority interests. The afterword revisits several matters discussed in the contributions, such as post-vernacularity, counter-heritagisation, and State and national narratives and policies. It highlights dimensions of critical reflection and attention to complexity. It argues that Jewish heritage should not only be revived and enlivened but also critically engaged with, fostering a dialogue that recognises its complexities and contradictions across different contexts and historical narratives. This text introduces the concept of iridescent heritage, which articulates heritage as dynamic, multifaceted, and shaped by the interactions between subjects, heritage objects, and interpretive frameworks. This idea moves away from fixed and flat conceptions of heritage towards a more processual and complex understanding of its meanings. The afterword suggests the explanatory resonance of a conceptualisation of iridescence with the insights from several contributions in the special issue
Förderung von KI-Literacy für das Studium: DBR-Studie zur Entwicklung eines Workshop-Konzepts
Full text linkDie Verbreitung generativer Künstlicher Intelligenz (gKI) stellt Hochschulen vor neue Herausforderungen. Studierende benötigen Kompetenzen, um gKI-Systeme kritisch zu bewerten, verantwortungsvoll zu nutzen und effektiv in ihren akademischen Alltag zu integrieren – eine Fähigkeit, die hier als „studiumsrelevante gKI-Literacy" bezeichnet wird. Basierend auf dem Design-Based Research-Ansatz wurde ein Workshop-Konzept entwickelt und iterativ erprobt, das auf den Aufbau dieser Kompetenzen abzielt. Im Fokus standen die Identifikation studiumsrelevanter gKI-Kompetenzen, die Entwicklung eines modularen, flexibel einsetzbaren Formats sowie dessen iterative Erprobung und Weiterentwicklung. Der DBR-Prozess ermöglichte es, theoretische, empirische und praktische Perspektiven gleichermaßen zu integrieren und durch kontinuierliche Rückkopplung mit Lehrenden und Studierenden zu einem anpassungsfähigen und praxistauglichen Konzept zu gelangen. Das Ergebnis bietet Lehrenden eine erprobte und flexible Grundlage, um studiumsrelevante gKI-Literacy zu fördern.Die Verbreitung generativer Künstlicher Intelligenz (gKI) stellt Hochschulen vor neue Herausforderungen. Tradwives, épouses traditionnelles, esposas tradicionales auf Social Media im französischen und spanischen Sprachraum: Forschungsskizze aus pragmalinguistischer Sicht
Full text linkDer vorliegende Beitrag bietet einen Überblick über mögliche sprachwissenschaftliche und insbe-sondere pragmalinguistische Forschungsansätze zur Annäherung an das Phänomen der Tradwives, v.a. in der Romania. Ursprünglich auf die sozialen Medien in den USA zurückgehend, erhält der Trend zunehmend auch in Europa Aufmerksamkeit und wird dort in den sozialen wie auch in den traditionellen Medien kontrovers diskutiert. Dies lässt sich wohl zumindest zu Teilen auf ihre polarisierende Selbstdarstellung und Abgrenzung von anderen Lebensentwürfen zurückführen. Zu klären ist zunächst, ob bzw. welche Accounts im romanischen – und insbesondere spanischen und französischen – Kontext dem Bild der Tradwife entsprechen. Daran anschließend lassen sich grundlegende sprachliche Strategien feststellen, die die Tradwives in ihren Posts nutzen und die in folgenden Untersuchungen näher zu betrachten wären. In der hier vorliegenden ersten explorativen Studie konnten auf Polyphonie basierende Verfahren, wie inszenierte Dialoge oder Ironie, bestimmte narrative Muster, die Aktivierung von Implikaturen sowie die Verwendung positiv bzw. negativ konnotierter Lexik beobachtet werden. Untersuchenswert erscheint darüber hinaus die multimodale Komponente der Posts ebenso wie die Einordnung in den größeren Zusammenhang pragmatischer Interaktionen in den sozialen Medien.This article provides an overview of possible linguistic and, in particular, pragmalinguistic research approaches to the phenomenon of tradwives, especially in Romance-speaking countries. Originally emerging on social media in the United States, the trend is gaining increasing attention in Europe, where it is the subject of controversial debates in both social and traditional media. This can likely be attributed, at least in part, to their polarising self-presentation and differentiation from other lifestyles. The first step is to clarify which accounts in the Romance context – and in particular in Spanish and French – correspond to the image of the tradwife. Subsequently, fundamental linguistic strategies used by tradwives in their posts can be identified, which could be examined in more detail in subsequent studies. In the initial exploratory approach presented in this article, polyphony-based techniques such as staged dialogues or irony, certain narrative patterns, the activation of implicatures, and the use of positively or negatively connoted vocabulary were observed. The multimodal component of the posts also appears worthy of investigation, as does their situation within the larger context of pragmatic interactions on social media

Full text linkDer Beitrag untersucht ausgewählte Facetten der lebensgeschichtlichen Erzählung eines Akteurs, der Ende der 1930er Jahre im Münzviertel in Hamburg-Hammerbrook geboren wurde. Ausgehend von retrospektiv vermittelten Erfahrungen, Deutungen und Wahrnehmungen analysieren wir mit Hilfe historisch-kulturwissenschaftlicher Perspektiven auf Raum, Narration, Identität und Emotionen eine Kriegskindheit während des Nationalsozialismus und des Zweiten Weltkriegs.This article examines a biographical narratives of an actor who was born in the Münzviertel in Hamburg-Hammerbrook in the late 1930s. Based on the articulated experiences, interpretations and perceptions, we analyse facets of a childhood in wartime during National Socialism and the Second World War with the help of cultural anthropological perspectives on space, narration, identity and emotions
