Carlo Cipolla, Amedeo Crivellucci e l'edizione della Historia Langobardorum di Paolo Diacono
Get PDFITALIANO: Durante il Congresso che si tenne a Cividale in occasione dell’XI centenario della morte di Paolo Diacono, fu promossa la costituzione di una commissione che curasse la nuova edizione della sua opera omnia. Forti riserve su questa iniziativa espresse l’Istituto storico italiano perché riteneva fosse sua prerogativa la stampa delle principali opere di Paolo: la Historia Romana e la Historia Langobardorum. Di diverso parere era Carlo Cipolla, secondo cui l’edizione della Historia Langobardorum spettava alla Deputazione veneta di storia patria. La disputa si concluse con una sorta di compromesso: Amedeo Crivellucci avrebbe curato per conto dell’Istituto storico la stampa delle Historiae, ma si sarebbe associato nell’impresa Cipolla. Il saggio ricostruisce la vicenda che portò alla collaborazione tra i due eminenti studiosi, la segue sino alla brusca
interruzione che risale al 1904, per poi soffermarsi sulle ricerche condotte dal solo Crivellucci sino al 1914. Sulla base della documentazione archivistica viene così ricostruita una pagina di
storia della medievistica di primo Novecento di cui non rimangono quasi tracce nelle opere a stampa, ma che ha visto coinvolti alcuni dei principali studiosi attivi in quel periodo (Cipolla e Crivellucci, ma anche Villari e Schiaparelli). / ENGLISH: During the congress on Paolo Diacono held in Cividale del Friuli in 1899 (eleven centuries after Paolo’s death) a scientific committee decided to publish a new edition of Paolo’s opera omnia. sort of scholar jealousy arised: the Istituto storico italiano thought that its own duty was to publish the Historia romana and the Historia Langobardorum, the main works written by Paolo. The eminent scholar Carlo Cipolla, on the contrary, believed that task was of the Deputazione

Effects of calcitriol and paricalcitol on renal fibrosis in CKD
No full textBackground. In chronic kidney disease, the activation of the renin-angiotensin–aldosterone system (RAAS) and renal inflammation stimulates renal fibrosis and the progression to endstage renal disease. The low levels of vitamin D receptor (VDR) and its activators (VDRAs) contribute to worsen secondary hyperparathyroidismand renal fibrosis.
Methods. The 7/8 nephrectomy model of experimental chronic renal failure (CRF) was used to examine the anti-fibrotic effects of treatment with two VDRAs, paricalcitol and calcitriol, at equivalent doses (3/1 dose ratio) during 4 weeks.
Results. CRF increased the activation of the RAAS, renal inflammation and interstitial fibrosis. Paricalcitol treatment reduced renal collagen I and renal interstitial fibrosis by decreasing the activation of the RAAS through renal changes in renin, angiotensin receptor 1 (ATR1) and ATR2 mRNAs levels and renal inflammation by decreasing renal inflammatory leucocytes (CD45), a desintegrin and metalloproteinase mRNA, transforming growth factor beta mRNA and protein, and maintaining E-cadherin mRNA levels. Calcitriol showed similar trends without significant changes in most of these biomarkers.
Conclusions. No full textEste trabajo pretende ser una recopilación y selección de la producción bibliográfica existente sobre repertorios y colecciones digitales creadas por archivos, bibliotecas y museos españoles. El número de registros recogidos es de 152 documentos, que engloban diferentes tipologías documentales. Se han identificado y seleccionado las referencias siguiendo los criterios generales para evaluar una fuente de información: autoridad, rigor, objetividad, actualidad y cobertura. La cobertura cronológica de los registros seleccionados abarca el siglo XXI, se recogen publicaciones desde el año 2000 hasta la actualidad, (2021). El gestor utilizado en la selección del repertorio es Mendeley. Las normas utilizadas en la descripción de los registros siguen el formato APA, 7ª edición

The effect of pasteurization in the expression of bovine milk microRNA
No full textThe edaphoclimatic conditions in Asturias (northwest Spain) enable the presence of milk production systems oscillating between farms based on grazing and low consumption of conserved feed and forages as well as a low density of
animals per surface, and intensive farms with confined animals, with a higher density, and higher consumption of
conserved feed and forages. Identifying milk according to its origin is a useful way to highlight the positive effects
of grazing farms on the environment, milk quality, animal welfare, and social aspects. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are
21-25-nucleotide small RNAs that perform various functions within cells, including gene expression regulation. They can be profiled through microarray, quantitative real-time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-qPCR), or sequencing.
Their expressions vary according to the genetic context and external factors to the animal (feeding, handling, etc.).
Besides, these molecules are resistant to adverse physicochemical conditions, which make them potential biomarkers. In previous studies, a set of miRNAs from raw milk with differential expression according to some ingredients of the diet were determined. However, it is important to evaluate the effect of technological treatments, in milk factories,(pasteurization, fermentation, sterilization, etc.) on these miRNAs. Furthermore, taking into account the potential bioactivity of milk according to its miRNAs content, it is important to assess miRNAs milk content intended for human consumption. In the present study, we analysed the effect of pasteurization on the miRNAs determined as biomarkers.
For that purpose, the expression of nine miRNAs was analysed in the same volume of twenty tank milk samples before and after pasteurization. The expression analysis of the different biomarkers in pasteurized and non-pasteurized milk showed that the expression of most miRNAs was lower after pasteurization, although without significant differences
(P<0.05). Moreover, pasteurization of raw milk affects differently fat and cell fraction. These results suggest that

The RANKL receptor LGR4 contributes to PTH-induced vascular calcification.
No full textBACKGROUND: In Chronic Kidney Disease serum phosphorus elevations stimulate PTH
production causing severe alterations in bone-vasculature axis. PTH is the main regulator of
Receptor activator of NFKB (RANK)/RANK ligand (RANKL)/osteoprotegerin (OPG) system,
essential for bone maintenance, which also plays an important role in vascular smooth
muscle cells (VSMCs) calcification. The discovery of a new RANKL receptor, leucine-rich
repeat-containing G-protein-coupled receptor 4 (LGR4), important for osteoblast
differentiation but with unknown role in VC, led us to examine LGR4 contribution in high
P/high PTH-driven vascular calcification (VC).
METHODS: In vivo studies were conducted in subtotally nephrectomized rats fed normal or
high phosphorus diet, with and without parathyroidectomy. Parathyroidectomized rat were
supplemented with PTH 1-34 to achieve physiological serum PTH levels). In vitro studies
were performed in rat aortic VSMCs cultured in control medium, calcifying medium (CM) or
CM plus 10-7 vs 10-9M PTH.
RESULTS: Rats fed high phosphorus, significantly increased aortic calcium content.
Similarly, calcium deposition was higher in VSMCs exposed to CM. Both conditions were
associated with increased RANKL and LGR4 and decreased OPG aorta expression, and
exacerbated by high PTH. Silencing of LGR4 or PTH1R attenuated the high PTH-driven
increases in calcium deposition. Furthermore, PTH1R silencing and pharmacological
inhibition of protein kinase (PK) A, but not of PKC, prevented the increases in RANKL and
LGR4 and decreased OPG. Treatment with PKA agonist corroborated that LGR4 regulation
is a PTH/PKA-driven process.
CONCLUSIONS: High PTH increases LGR4 and RANKL and decreases OPG expression in
aorta, thereby favoring vascular calcification. The hormone's direct pro-calcifying actions

Markovnikov Wacker-Tsuji Oxidation of Allyl(hetero)arenes and Application in a One-Pot Photo-Metal-Biocatalytic Approach to Enantioenriched Amines and Alcohols
No full textThe Wacker-Tsuji aerobic oxidation of various
allyl(hetero)arenes under photocatalytic conditions to form the corresponding methyl ketones is presented. By using a palladium complex [PdCl2(MeCN)2] and the photosensitizer [Acr-Mes]ClO4 in aqueous medium and at room temperature, and by simple irradiation with blue led light, the desired carbonyl compounds were synthesized with high conversions (>80%) and excellent selectivities (>90%). The key process was the transient formation of Pd nanoparticles that can activate oxygen, thus recycling the Pd(II) species necessary in the Wacker oxidative reaction. While light irradiation was strictly mandatory, the addition of the photocatalyst improved
the reaction selectivity, due to the formation of the starting allyl(hetero)arene from some of the obtained byproducts, thus entering back in the Wacker-Tsuji catalytic
cycle. Once optimized, the oxidation reaction was combined in a one-pot two-step sequential protocol with an enzymatic transformation. Depending on the biocatalyst employed, i.e. an amine transaminase or an alcohol
dehydrogenase, the corresponding (R)- and (S)-1-arylpropan-2-amines or 1-arylpropan-2-ols, respectively, could be synthesized in most cases with high yields (>70%) and in enantiopure form. Finally, an application of this photo-metal-biocatalytic strategy has been demonstrated in order to get access in a straightforward manner to selegiline, an anti-Parkinson drug
