Since this paper is entitled: An Exploration into the Dark Web, the concepts and the way the Dark Web works are closely examined. The features of the Dark Web are presented with its advantages and disadvantages in the society. The usage of the Dark Web is explained through the methods of surfing and the undergoing activities that occur

Response surface optimisation and antioxidant characterisation of high antioxidant soft jelly prepared from Baccaurea angulata fruit juice and Trigona sp. honey using central composite design

The optimum combination of Baccaurea angulata fruit juice (X1: 15 - 85 ratio) and Trigona sp. honey (TH) (X2: 15 - 85 ratio) in developing a high antioxidant soft jelly was investigated based on the antioxidant capacity (Y1), phenolic (Y2), and flavonoid (Y3) content. Response surface methodology (RSM), via central composite design (CCD), was used to produce optimal combination effects of the two independent variables (B. angulata fruit juice and TH) for highest recovery of antioxidant capacity (AC), total phenolic content (TPC), and total flavonoid content (TFC). The polynomial models generated were satisfactory. The lack-of-fit test were higher than p > 0.05 for all three analyses, signifying the suitability of the models in accurately predicting the variations. Predicted values of the analysis agreed with those of the experimental values. An optimum combination of B. angulata fruit juice and TH was developed (ratio 40:40). The sample also exhibited significant FRAP and DPPH radical scavenging activities. Several polyphenols were identified for the samples through UHPLC-MS/MS. In conclusion, B. angulata and Trigona sp. honey have high potentials to be used in fortifying the soft jelly samples, making them prospective food supplements due to their nutritional and health benefits

Online customer shopping behaviour: the mediating role of online perceived risk

    No full text
The studies of online purchase intention have been done extensively throughout the world by testing many predictors. Due to the rapid growth of technological advances affecting internet users suggest other new predictors considered as an online purchase intention element. This study suggests customer review, online store image, and perceived online risk (an element of a mediating factor) as three main variables that drive customers to purchase online. A simple convenience sampling method was used to analyse the responses from online users via the online questionnaire web surveys. Multiple regressions and Sobel tests were used in this study to test the hypotheses. The result shows that online customer review and online store image have a positive relationship with the perceived risk online as well as perceived risk itself also has a positive relationship with online purchase intention. Consequently, in terms of mediating factors, perceived risk online is seen as a mediator for both online customer review and online store image with online purchase intention. Having said that, the study hopes that the findings would help boost the online retail industry as a contributor to the country\u27s economic development

The impacts of CEO age and education level on earnings management: evidence from listed Vietnamese real estate firms

    No full text
This study examines the impact of CEO age and education level on the earnings management of listed Vietnamese real estate companies in the period from 2007 to 2016. The results show that CEO age has a negative correlation to earnings management. Older individuals are more conservative and ethical than younger CEOs, and firms managed by CEOs who pursue higher education are less likely to encounter earnings management. In addition, firm performance, CEO gender, firm size and CEO duality are correlated to earnings management. Our research therefore suggests that investors should pay more attention to CEO age when investing in a company

Teaching Korean as a foreign language: Inputs to new normal pedagogy

    No full text
What lessons can be shared from instructional practices in Korean language teaching? How can other teachers learn from these experiences? Given these reflections, how can one imagine the future of foreign language teaching as guided by reflective practices? The delivery of foreign language classes also needs to be revisited as the sudden shift to teaching and learning modality has created a great impact on instructional materials development, lesson delivery, assessment, and other functions. As a study employing critical reflection as a method, this paper uses the professional learning context of the researcher with teaching Korean as a foreign language in graduate school. Critical reflection is used to further positively contribute to ways and practices of teaching the course. Teaching Korean as a foreign language to graduate students is an experience filled with lessons worthy of examination. These lessons as a product of practice inform prospects with the end goal of refining classroom strategies. The experiences of teachers of Korean as a foreign language could serve as a springboard in critically revisiting practices and methodologies in the classroom
