I-Bin: weight based IoT smart recycling scheduler for guarded neighbourhood
Overpopulation and lack of awareness are the main causes of poor waste management. While existing research in waste management employs current technology such as the Internet of Things, it lacks emphasis on residential centric type of waste management system. This project designs a weight based scheduling system for a guarded neighbourhood using Arduino Uno, load cells and plastic bins which are then incorporated with WiFi to send waste weight information in real time to cloud for monitoring. Design verification tests such as the linearity test and non- repeatability test showed less than 1 percent standard deviation error. A Proof of Concept test was conducted to test the system\u27s performance at a guarded residential area. Analysis of test showed that an average of 0.0966 kg of recyclable waste was collected per house. Based on the results also, it is predicted that approximately 483 kg of waste can be effectively collected from 10 residential areas using the I-Bin system. Residents tend to dispose waste after office hours and scheduling more waste collection frequency after office hours will lead to increased revenue for the recycling company
A Usability Testing on Jawi Mobile Application for Standard One Acquisition on Reading and Writing Skills
Usability testing is one of the most profound product-evaluation methods that can be applied to determine the effectiveness of an innovation, especially how the product invented meets the user\u27s need and expectation. However, the problem is that there are some believes that usability testing is pointless because real users would test the application and report any issue arises. Not with standing this belief, the researchers still think that usability testing can highlight the quality of user experience and can answer the question of whether people enjoy the application or not. Thus, this paper will expose the readers to the usability testing that is conductedon a new Jawi Mobile Application that adopts Augmented Reality (AR) technology and used ADDIE research method, which aims to improve Standard One student\u27s skills in reading and writing the Jawi script. Thirty students (30) of standard one aged 7 years old from a chosen primary school were involved in the usability test. The usability test involved questionnaires and observations based on four acceptance test elements. Based on the findings, it is proven that the new Jawi Mobile Application that uses Augmented Reality (AR) Multimedia Elements is a breakthrough innovation which firstly, can help to ameliorate standard one basic acquisition on Jawi reading and writing skills, and secondly can be integrated into the Standard One School Syllabus
The frequency of breakfast consumption between males and females among sports science undergraduates
Human health depends on regular practice of healthy lifestyles which included a balanced diet
that consist of a variety of important nutrients in the food. Creating a balanced diet and regular
eating habits were the basis of the positive changes in our eating habits and it was also as the
source of our recovery. Breakfast had been the most important meal of the day. However, there
were still evidences of individuals who skip breakfast. The purpose of this study was to determine
the frequency of breakfast consumption between male and female among sports science
undergraduates. A total of 50 undergraduates participated in this study. Result of the study
showed 66% of sports science undergraduates took breakfast while 34% of them were classified
as breakfast skippers. Male were frequently taking breakfast (72%) as compared to female
students (60%) (p < .05). In conclusion, sports science study promotes awareness on healthy
lifestyle apart from sports and breakfast was one of the factors. Extra work to spread the health
awareness to the people could be significant for illuminating a better lifestyle
Teaching email writing through online teaching platform
Email communication has been widely used in tertiary education as a mean of interpersonal communication (Huang, 2011Baghestan, Indriyanto & Asfaranjan, 2016Robinson & Stubberud, 2012). However, the lack of understanding of proper etiquette in e-mail writing results to frustration because students fail to convey their message effectively and professionally, hence unable to receive anticipated feedback from their lecturers (Kim et al., 2016). The necessity of email writing as a subject for English as a Second Language (ESL) classroom is essentia
Adaptasi cerita fabel nusantara dalam pertunjukan sirkus
Along with the times, traditional arts slowly began to
fade. So, it is with traditional folk tales. It is important to
keep traditional stories known and understood by
children. Introducing the arts, especially performing arts,
can be done from an early age, carried out by
parents, teachers, to certain communities. For children, of course, an easy and interesting way
is needed so that they can be enjoyed until a show is over. The concept of the show \u27The
Fabulous Fable ShowCircus and Theater \u27is a concept that was initiated as a form of love for
the local culture of the archipelago, collaborated with circus performances as one of the main
branches of the performing arts. Circus shows generally feature attractions such as juggling,
spinning, acrobatics, or attractions that use animals such as lions, tigers, elephants, and
others. To make this show even more interesting, the concept maker included a theatrical
element by bringing up the fable story from Indonesia. The fable story was chosen because
the characters used were taken from animals and made children interested in the play that
was performed. From there, children can recognize emotional expressions, such as joy or
sadness that arise from a dance movement or song that is played
Morpho-physiological and anatomical character changes of rice under waterlogged and water-saturated acidic and high Fe content soil
Waterlogging is one of the limiting factors in crop cultivation. Moreover, high iron (Fe) content in acidic soils could also disturb plant growth. However, there is limited scientific information of morpho-physiological and anatomical responses of rice grown in waterlogged acidic soils with high Fe. Therefore, the objective of the research was to investigate the morpho-physiological and anatomical responses of rice to waterlogged and water-saturated soil condition in acidic soil with high Fe. Morpho-physiological and anatomical characters of rice were evaluated. The results showed that the waterlogging in acidic and high Fe content soil disturbed the rice growth as indicated by the change of morpho-physiological and anatomical characters. The water-saturated soil showed better condition for rice cultivation than that of waterlogging. The plant biomass, root anatomical, lipid peroxidation level, Fe absorption, and leaf gas exchange parameter could be evidences of changes in rice under both conditions. Based on the waterlogging tolerance coefficient (WTC), we proposed shoot and root dry weight, cortex thickness, and Fe content in shoot as screening tools for waterlogging tolerance of rice in acidic and high Fe content soil. The finding offers insight about waterlogged condition in acidic and high Fe soil could be restored in crop cultivation
Delegitimation of single-mux policy on re-regulation process of Indonesian broadcasting bill in media framing
This study aims to explain the reality behind the framing of negative coverage of the single-mux policy in the re-regulation of Law No.32/2002, from a more macro perspective. Framing negative news by building reader cynicism on the single-mux policy option is associated as one of the efforts to delegitimize the single-mux policy, throughout the process of discussing the policy in Parliament. This research links the reality between negative news framing around single-mux policy options, with the media agenda in the broadcast industry in Indonesia. The author used the concept of framing-strategy analysis Cappella and Jamieson (1997) as an analysis tool, to analyze data from detikcom content as online news media around the debate on single-mux and multi-mux policies on 2017-2018 reporting period. The results identified that the media developed a negative narrative about single-mux policies aimed to rise public cynicism about the policy. Cynicism is built by constructing issues around singlemux policies with policy impacts that conflict with democratic values, such as mass layoffs in the broadcasting industry, the issue of excesses of authoritarian policies because management rights are controlled solely by the government, to the issue of unpreparedness of government infrastructure which results in a waste of budget in the process of procuring new infrastructure. These facts the author associates with the effort to delegitimize single-mux policy options in the legislation process, using the arguments of Berger, Ridgeway, Fisek and Norman, (1998)
