The employability skills among students of Public Higher Education Institution in Malaysia
Entering the fourth industrial revolution, many crucial changes took place in the developing economies, especially in the context of the job market. Higher education institution plays an important role in generating labours resources outputs in order to fulfil the demand of the potentials labour in the job market. Hence, strategy in the success of the workforce at the institution of education needs to improve the employability skills. The purpose of this study was to examine the graduates\u27 employability skills among students of Public Higher Education Institution (IPTA) in Malaysia based on demography (gender, location and parental education). In addition, this study also attempts to examine the influencing factors such as endurance force, time management, research experience and activities involvement at university against employability skills. The sample of the study involved 554 undergraduate students in IPTA. The findings show that result on location demographics found significant differenceslocation was found to affect the level of employability of respondents. The finding also revealed that the factors of endurance force , time management, research experience and activities involvement in university are influencing variances and total predictor factors (75.6%) for employability skills among students IPTA. The contribution of this study can provide a comprehensive comparison of the employability skills based on location demographic and endurance force aspect among the undergraduate in IPTA
Emerging natural fiber-reinforced cement materials and technology for 3D concrete printing: A review
Additive Manufacturing (AM) technology has been widely used in various industries like automotive, manufacturing and construction. The application of AM technology in the construction industry is a chance of significant improvement and advancement for constructing processes. AM is consist of creating layer by layer of slices to print 3-dimensional (3D) construction parts. In this regard, along with the technology and process of 3D printing in constructionmany researchers worked on different materials included natural fibre reinforced cement for the 3D construction advancement. On such, the review has been done for 3D printing technology, process, latest machinery for construction, the construction flow process and emerging materials for 3D construction. For this, the most recent and critical research work since last 8-years was highlighted and argued. Different research articles and numerous latest reports from web blogs are used for furnishing this review work. Based on the review, few research gaps are discovered. Finally, the use of 3D printing in the construction industry depends on the accuracy of the printing job. Not only that, the availability of printing materials and the cost of the printing process and the time taken to print also become the factors in the technology revolution in the construction industry
Pengetahuan terhadap perkhidmatan ekosistem dan sumbangannya kepada kehidupan komuniti di Kuala Sepetang, Perak
Kemusnahan alam sekitar dan kepupusan biodiversiti telah menjadi suatu isu yang sangat membimbangkan. Keterancaman biodiversiti ini dijangka akan berterusan dan meningkat pada masa akan datang jika tiada tindakan serius yang diambil oleh semua pihak berkepentingan. Kemerosotan dan kepupusan sumber semula jadi yang menjejaskan perkhidmatan ekosistem bukan sahaja menjadi isu dan cabaran di peringkat global, malah turut memberi impak kepada Malaysia. Oleh itu, kajian mengenai tahap pengetahuan komuniti dan sumbangan perkhidmatan ekosistem perlu dilakukan dengan memfokuskan kepada empat kategori perkhidmatan ekosistsem iaitu perkhidmatan-perkhidmatan pembekalan, kawal atur, sokongan, dan budaya. Sejumlah 249 borang soal selidik telah diedarkan secara rawak kepada anggota kuminiti di kawasan Kuala Sepetang, Perak. Data yang diperoleh melalui borang soal selidik ini, dianalisa dengan menggunakan kaedah Indeks Kepentingan Relatif (RII) dalam menentukan kedudukan item dan kategori. Kajian mendapati tahap pengetahuan komuniti setempat terhadap keempat-empat kategori perkhidmatan ekosistem adalah baik iaitu perkhidmatan pembekalan, perkhidmatan kawal atur, perkhidmatan sokongan dan perkhidmatan budaya. Sumbangan perkhidmatan ekosistem sokongan menunjukkan sumbangan terbesar dalam kehidupan harian penduduk dan secara tidak langsung membantu dalam kelangsungan hidup. Alam sekitar semula jadi terbukti menyediakan perkhidmatan ekosistem yang sangat penting dan menjadi elemen yang utama dalam kehidupan harian komuniti tempatan. Perkhidmatan ekosistem bukan hanya memberi perkhidmatan kepada manusia tetapi juga menjadi sistem bantuan kehidupan yang berkualiti
Pengetahuan untuk menghasilkan inovasi pembelajaran dalam kalangan guru pendidikan islam inovatif
Pengetahuan sangat penting dalam penghasilan inovasi. Dalam mewujudkan inovasi pengajaran, guru
perlu mempunyai pelbagai pengetahuan khusus. Malangnya, kekurangan pengetahuan adalah salah satu masalah
ketidakupayaan guru untuk berinovasi. Oleh itu, terdapat keperluan untuk menangani kaedah yang digunakan oleh guru yang inovatif
untuk mengatasi masalah ini. Kajian ini dilakukan secara kualitatif pada dua Pendidikan Islam Inovatif
Guru (IIET). Temu bual separuh struktur dilakukan dengan mereka. Hasil kajian menunjukkan dua utama
tema, iaitubagaimana meningkatkan pengetahuan, dan kolaborasi. Terdapat empat sub-tema untuk pengetahuan
peningkatan, iaitugaris panduan dalam talian, kursus maya, menghadiri bengkel, dan bertemu dengan pakar.
Sementara itu, subtema untuk kolaborasi adalah1) bekerjasama dengan rakan guru, dan 2)
bekerjasama dengan pelajar
Pempolitikan dan reformasi pengurusan awam di malaysia
Kajian ini memfokuskan perbincangan tentang bentuk atau sasaran pempolitikan di kalangan pegawai atasan dalam konteks reformasi pengurusan dalam sektor awam. Konsep pempolitikan yang diketengahkan ini
berdasarkan teori pengurusan awam baru yang menekan dan mengikhtiraf ciri atau karektor politik dalam
pentadbiran, bercanggah dengan teori pentadiran awam tradisional yang menekankan kepada perlunya kepada
pemisahan di antara politik dan pentadbiran. Bagaimanapun, berbeza di barat titik temu di antara politik dan
pentadbiran sudah terjawab apabila model PAT ditolak antara lain kerana faktor policy deadlock dan
kemudiannya mengorak kepada pengurusan awam baru. Di Malaysia, pengasingan di antara birokrasi dan
politik atau pengurusan masih kabur. Birokrasi adalah satu proses yang menghalang campur tangan politik
namun ia seringkali dilihat tanpa sempadan yang jelas dari segi sejauhmana ianya dibenarkan. Dapatan
menunjukkan reformasi pengurusan atau secara khususnya melalui tingkah laku politik-pentadbiran yang
disingkap melalui hubungan di antara ahli politik dan birokrat, fasa kepimpinan dan pemimpin dan simbolik
politik telah menggugat profesionalisme dam akauntabiliti dalam kalangan pegawai atasan kerajaan. Oleh itu
PAB bukanlah satu model pengurusan awam yang istimewa di Malaysia kerana titik-temu politik telah
membawa kepada ketidakcekapan, berbanding kecekapan di bawah politik integriti seperti yang ditakrif di barat
Spatial hotspot patterns of a home burglary in Penang
This study is based on property crime cases in the Northeast of Penang using GIS application for crime prevention. Studies based on the spatial elements showed that GIS application was able to reduce the crime issues. The purpose of this study is to identify the hotspots of home burglary based on time incident in Penang using GIS spatial statistics. Based on the report of house burglary cases from 2013 until 2015. Getis Ord Gi* was used to identify the high-risk areas of home burglary cases based on z-scores and p-values. The analysis shows that the areas of the hot spot cases of home burglary are the same for night and day incidents. In 2013, the hot spot areas at night were 7 areas, and during the day only 1 incident was identified. Hot spot increases in 2014 to 9 areas for nighttime incidents while daytime events also increased to 10 areas. While 2015 showed that the number of hot spots that occurred at night reduced to 5 areas and daytime incidents also recorded the same number of hot spots during the night incidents. Hot spot areas also frequently identified in urban areas and high population density such as Jelutong, Dato Keramat, Tanjung Tokong dan Sungai Nibong. The result showed that hotspots of home burglary are more concentrated in residential areas with good road network accessibility. This study can assist the authorities such as the Royal Malaysia Police (RPM) in preventing and reducing the crime index by using GIS applications
Penilaian kebolehupayaan pejalan kaki di Tapak Warisan Dunia UNESCO: kajian kes di George Town, Pulau Pinang
Kebolehupayaan pejalan kaki merupakan salah satu elemen kelestarian yang dapat memberikan pelbagai manfaat termasuk kesihatan, ekonomi dan perancangan bandar. Di Malaysia, elemen ini adalah baru dan terhad di kawasan bandar metropolitan yang maju seperti Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur, Bandaraya Johor Bahru dan Bandaraya George Town. Kini, kebolehupayaan pejalan kaki dijadikan sebagai mod pengangkutan aktif yang lestari. Tujuan kajian ini dijalankan adalah untuk mengukur dan menilai tahap indeks kebolehupayaan pejalan kaki yang dijalankan di tapak warisan dunia George Town, Pulau Pinang. Antara indikator dan data guna tanah yang digunakan adalah indeks campuran guna tanah (entropi), indeks perhubungan dan indeks nisbah bersih perniagaan (tanah komersial). Indikator ini dianalisis, dinilai dan diintergrasikan dengan aplikasi Sistem Maklumat Geografi untuk penghasilan peta indeks kebolehupayaan pejalan kaki. Bagi mendapatkan penilaian indeks kebolehupayaan pejalan kaki yang jitu, kaedah pengesahan di lapangan dijalankan dengan kaedah temubual di setiap lokasi tertentu. Hasil dapatan kajian ini mendapati kawasan kajian mempunyai skor tahap kebolehupayaan pejalan kaki yang tinggi, memudahkan pengguna ke sesuatu destinasi dan menjadikan aktiviti berjalan kaki sebagai mod pengangkutan yang lestari. Kesimpulannya, kebolehupayaan pejalan kaki yang baik dapat mengurangkan kesesakan lalu lintas dan meningkatkan aktiviti pelancongan sedia ada
Robotics and Automation in Agriculture: Present and Future Applications
Agriculture is the backbone of society as it mainly functions to provide food, feed and fiber on which all human depends to live. Precision agriculture is implemented with a goal to apply sufficient treatments at the right place in the right time with the purpose to provide low-input, high efficiency and sustainable agricultural production. In precision agriculture, automation and robotics have become one of the main frameworks which focusing on minimizing environmental impact and simultaneously maximizing agricultural produce. The application of automation and robotics in precision agriculture is essentially implemented for precise farm management by using modern technologies. In the past decades, a significant amount of research has focused on the applications of mobile robot for agricultural operations such as planting, inspection, spraying and harvesting. This paper reviews the recent applications of automation and robotics in agriculture in the past five years. In this paper, the recent implementations are divided into four categories which indicates different operations executed for planting management starting from a seed until the product is ready to be harvested. Towards the end of this paper, several challenges and suggestions are described to indicate the opportunities and improvements that can be made in designing an efficient autonomous and robotics system for agricultural applications. Based on the conducted review, different operations have different challenges thus require diverse solutions to solve the specific operational problem. Therefore, the development process of an efficient autonomous agricultural robotic system must consider all possibilities and challenges in different types of agricultural operation to minimize system errors during future implementation. In addition, the development cost needs to be fully considered to ensure that the farmers will be able to invest their capital as a consumer. Therefore, it will become highly possible for the autonomous agricultural robotic system to be widely implemented throughout the world in the future
