Pertumbuhan Rumput Kerbau (Paspalum conjugatum Berg.) yang Diinokulasi Beberapa Dosis Fungi Mikoriza Arbuskular (FMA) pada Media yang Mengandung Merkuri (Hg)
The research about the growth of Buffalo Grass (Paspalum conjugatum Berg.) inoculated with several doses of Arbuscular Mychorrizal Fungi (AMF) ) in Media Containing with Mercury (Hg) had been done from February to July 2014 at the greenhouse, Plant Physiology and Tissue Culture Laboratory, Biology Department, Faculty of Mathematic and Natural Science and Environmental Laboratory, Faculty of Engineering, Andalas University. The aims of the research to know ability of P. conjugatum inoculated with several doses AMF in media containing with mercury and find the best dose of AMF for growh of P. conjugatum. The research used a Completely Randomized Design with five treatments and five replications. The treatments were control 0, 5, 10, 15, 20 g AMF. The result showed that no effect inoculated of AMF up to 20 g to the height, number of leaves and dry weight of P. conjugatum
Komposisi dan Struktur Komunitas Fitoplankton di Danau Diatas Kabupaten Solok Sumatera Barat
A study on community of phytoplankton in Diatas lake was conducted from April to September 2014. This study aimed to describe composition and structure of phytoplankton of the lake. We sampled phytoplankton at 6 stations purposively using plankton net that hauled vertically. We found 70 species of phytoplankton those belong to five classes, i.e. Bacillariophyceae (33 species), Chlorophyceae (27 species), Cyanophyceae (5 species), Dinophyceae (3 species) and Euglenophyceae (1 species). Total density of phytoplankton ranged from 881.06 to 3,196.02 ind/l. The highest density was at Station VI (Teluk Kinari) and the lowest one was at Station III (Muaro). Phytoplanktons with higher relative density (RD > 5 %) were Melosira italica, Synedra ulna, Melosira granulata (Bacillariophyceae), Staurastrum cereates, Chlorella vulgaris and Spirogyra fluviatis (Chlorophyceae). Shannon-Wiener Diversity index of phytoplankton (H`) ranged from 1.30 to 1.71 with the highest diversity index was at Station IV (Batang Hari) and the lowest was at Station V (central lake). Equitability index (E) was ranged from 0.39 to 0.57. Similarity index among stations were low which ranged from 34.48 to 62.50%
Semut Subfamili Myrmicinae di Suaka Alam Maninjau Utara Selatan, Kabupaten Agam, Sumatera Barat
Research about inventory of ants Myrmicinae (Hymenoptera: Formicidae) in Nature Reserve Maninjau Utara-Selatan, Agam, West Sumatra was conducted from June to December 2015 by using the "Quadra protocol" which consist of a combination of four methods: free collection, leaf litter sampling, soil sampling, honey bait. A total of 19 species, 9 genera, 5 tribe were collected. Pheidole was found as genus with the highest number of species (9 species), followed by Crematogaster (3 species)
Jenis-Jenis Semut (Hymenoptera: Formicidae) di Bangunan Kampus Universitas Andalas Limau Manis Padang
Study about ants species (Hymenoptera: Formicidae) at campus building was conducted in Andalas University Limau Manis Padang from September 2012 to April 2013. Direct collection method and baited traps were used to collect ants at 12 building. A total of 11 species that belonging to four subfamily, six tribe, and 11 genera and 859 individual of ant was collected. Myrmicinae was the highest in number of species (four species), followed by Dolichoderinae (three species) only two species were found as Formicinae and Ponerinae. Six of collected species are recognized as ant pests.

Komposisi dan Struktur Komunitas Ikan Kepe-Kepe (Famili Chaetodontidae) di Perairan Pantai Taman Nirwana, Kota Padang
A study on the community of butterfly fish (Chaetodontidae) has been conducted from April to June 2013 in two locations of coral reefs at Taman Nirwana coastal area, Padang, namely tourism zone and mangrove zone. This study aimed to determine composition and community structure of butterfly fish. This study used visual census method with limitation of 2.5 meters of view to the left and to the right along the line transects. The results found that nine species of butterfly fish which belong to two genera; Heniochus and Chaetodon. There were three species of Heniochus (i.e Heniochus pleurotaenia, H. varius, and H. Singularis) and six species of Chaetodon (i.e Chaetodon triangulum, C. collare, C. vagabundus, C. trifasciatus, C. rafflesii, and C. Kleinii). The abundance and species diversity of butterfly fish did not significantly differed between tourism and mangrove zones. In line with the two previous parameters, similarity indices were found very close between the tourism and mangrove zones. The low index values for all of the parameters may indicate a low quality of the coastal area community due to the human interferences.Key word : Chaetodontidae, composition, community structure, Nirwana Park beach-Padan
Analisis Vegetasi Gulma pada Kebun Kopi Arabika (Coffea arabica L.) di Balingka, Agam, Sumatera Barat
The vegetation analysis of weed from Coffee Arabica (Coffea arabica L.) traditional farm in Balingka, Agam has been conducted from February to May 2014. The purpose of this study was to determine the composition and structure of weed on the farm. Vegetation was sampled systematically using square plot (1x1 m2) with a total 32 plots. The results found that composition of the weed in the farm were 11 families, 21 genera and 25 species. A total number of individuals were 3114. Borreria laevis dominated at the coffee farm with the highest SDR (Summed Dominance Ratio) (22.809%). Diversity index (H') of the weed in coffee farm was 2.04. Efektivitas Gambir (Uncaria gambir Roxb.) sebagai Anti Hiperkolesterolemia dan Stabilisator Nilai Darah pada Mencit Putih (Mus musculus) Jantan
Research about the affectivity of gambier (Uncaria gambir Roxb.) as anti-hypercholesterolemic and stabilizer of blood value on the male white mice (Mus musculus) have been done from August to December 2013 in the Research Laboratory of Animal Physiology, Biology Department, Mathematics and Natural Sciences Faculty, Andalas University, Padang and Sejawat Clinical Laboratory, Padang. This study aimed to determine whether gambier could inhibit the increase in total cholesterol and stabilize blood value of white mice that were given with the leftover frying oil and to determine the best dose of gambier in inhibiting the increase in total cholesterol and stabilize blood value of white mice that were given with the leftover frying oil. This study used an experimental method completely randomized design (CRD) with five treatments and five replications. Treatment with giving the leftover frying oil and gambier dose of 50; 100; 150 and 200 mg/kg and control with giving the leftover frying oil without giving gambier. The result showed that the gambier could inhibit the increase in total cholesterol and stabilize blood of white mice that were given with the leftover frying oil and the best dose is 50 mg/kg body weight. Komposisi dan Struktur Komunitas Fitoplankton di Danau Maninjau Sumatera Barat
A study on composition and structure of phytoplankton community at Maninjau lake was conducted from April to July 2013. The planktons were sampled purposively at 11 stastions using vertically towed of plankton net. This study found a total 94 species of phytoplankton that mostly belong to Chlorophyceae. Density of phytoplankton varied significantly between sampling stations ranged from 1,083 to 5,119 ind/l. The highest density was found at Station where agriculture plant dominated the vegetations around the edge of the lake, while the lowest density found at station located near the centre of the lake. Those phytoplanktons with relative density higher than 5% were Synedra ulna, Cosmarium compressus, Cosmarium decoratum, Sturastrum playfairi, Chroococcus disperses, Chroococcus limneticus and Glenodinium quadridens. Diversity indiches of phytoplankton (H`) was ranged from 1,96-2,80 with highest diversity at Galapuang (near garbages disposal area and fish farms) and the lowest was at Pakan Rabaa (water inlet). Equitability indiches (E) ranged from 0.65 to 0.81. The Index of Similarity phytoplankton was range from 28.12-70.00%. The result of this study might suggest that composition of the phytoplankton in the lake was relatively high although the structure reflected some influencees of human activities.Key word :phytoplankton, community, diversity, and Maninjau Lake
Inventarisasi Jenis-Jenis Ikan Cyprinidae di Sungai Batang Nareh, Kabupaten Padang Pariaman.
Species Inventory of the Cyprinid fishes at Batang Nareh River, Padang Pariaman using descriptive method was conducted from January to March 2013. Seven species of Cyprinid that belonging to five genera and 253 individuals were collected from three stasiun at Batang Nareh River. The species were Tor tambra CV, T. tambroides Blkr, Rasbora reticulata M. web & de Bfrt, R. laterastriata Blkr, Lobocheilos falcifer CV, Osteochilus hasseltii Blkr, and Puntius binotatus CV. Tor tambra and T. tambroides were reported as high economic value species for local people.Keywords: Inventory, Cyprinid, Batang Nareh River
Efek Toksisitas Akut Ekstrak Daun Paku Sisik Naga (Drymoglossum piloselloides (L.) Presl) terhadap Nilai Darah Mencit Putih (Mus musculus L.)
The acute toxicity effects of leaf extract of dragon scales fern (Drymoglossum piloselloides (L.) Presl) on hematological values of male albino mice (Mus musculus L.) has been tested at the Laboratory Animal Physiology. The experiment tested extract dose from 50 to 200 mg/Kgbw on hematological values of male albino mice. The treatments used a randomized block design method. The mice were injected by the leaf extract at several doses: i.e.  0 mg/Kgbw, 50 mg/Kgbw, 100 mg/Kgbw, 150 mg/Kgbw and 200 mg/ Kgbw. The blood were collected at 24 hours after treatment and hematological values have been examined including number of red and white blood cell, hematocrite, hemoglobin concentration (Hb), plasm protein concentration, absolute blood indices, diameter and morphology of eritrocyte. The results showed that the leaf extract of D. piloseloides gave no acute toxicity effect of hematological values.Keywords: Drymoglossum piloselloides, hematology, acute toxicit
