    Selection on growth pre weaning addition can improve the growth of livestock post weaningconcerned can boost growth. Post weaning growth due to selection on growth pre weaningexpressed as a correlated response to selection caused by a genetic correlation between the natureof the growth. The aim of this study to determine the genetic correlation between growth preweaning and post weaning Peranakan Etawah goats (PE) in the village Sungailangka, DistrictGedongtataan, Pesawaran District, Lampung Province. Research conducted the survey methodsand explore secondary data is a record growth of 40 breeding goats and 40 tai female kids,regardless of the delivery period, the Group Livestock Margarini VI. Data recording are used tocalculate the corrected weaning weight and the entire year. Parent group then used to calculategrowth pre weaning and post weaning parent. Records used to calculate kidd and the entire yearcorrected weaning weight, then used to calculate growth pre weaning and post weaning kids. Datagrowth pre weanig and post weaning parent and kidds is used to estimate the heritability of growthpre and post weaning. Genetic correlations between growth pre and post weaning analyzed withregression methods to parent kidds.     The potency of rice bran which could be used as the cattle fare in 2011 was + 6,539 billion ton. The problem in using rice bran as fare product was the low stability because of hydrolysis and oxidation rancidity. The hydrolysis and oxidation rancidity was happened during the saving could spoil the quality of the rice bran, especially the lipid contents. The one of the way which could be used to avoid the process of hydrolysis and lipid oxidation in rice bran was by adding the charcoal. The charcoal contents carbon which could adsorb H2O and its pores could tie O2 molecule. This research was purposed (1) to know the influence of using wood charcoal and coconut shell charcoal toward the quality of rice bran which was saved in 6 weeks; (2) to know which one was the best treatment based on the physical characteristic and chemichal composition of rice bran which was in storage with wood charcoal and coconut shell charcoal in 6 weeks. The scheme of the experiment in this research was used random complete experiment with 3 treatments, each treatment was repeated 4 times. If the result of varian analysis was obviously influenced at one variety, so the next experiment would be done with the least obvious different experiment at obvious level 5% and 1%. The result of this research showed that the use of wood charcoal and coconut shell charcoal obviously influence (P<5%) toward the smell and water proportion and very obviously influence (P<1%) toward the number of rice bran peroxida which was in a storage in 6 weeks. Coconut shell charcoal was the best media in rice bran saving in 6 weeks because it produced the smell that was not rancid and the lowest peroxida number (6,39 + 0,07 meq/kg).     PERBANDINGAN PERFORMA DUA STRAIN AYAM JANTAN TIPE MEDIUM YANG DIBERI RANSUM KOMERSIAL BROILER

    This study aims to determine the best strain of the performance of medium type roosters fed commercial broiler rations.  This study conducted for 7 weeks from 19 may to 06   july 2012, in the chicken coop department of animal husbandry, faculty of agriculture, University of  Lampung. The chicken is a rooster who used medium type strain Isa Brown and  Lohman each as much as 100  individuals.  This study compared two treatments are different strains rooster medium type  Isa Brown rooster and Lohman medium type srtain. Data obtained from the study were analyzed using student t-test on the real level of 5%.  The variables measured were ration consumpion, body weight gain, conversion ratio, and income over feed cost (IOFC).  The results showed that the strain Isa Brown had ration consumption  and body weight were significantly (P<0.05) higher than Lohman strain, but the conversion ratio and the type of medium IOFC cock  both strains were not significantly (P>0.05) .     A survey to determined weaning weight, repeatability, and MPPA using 60 Ettawah Crossbreeddoe were held on Kelompok Tani Margarini, Sungai Langka Village, Gedong Tatanan SubDistrict, Pesawaran Regency. Data were taken from first and second offspring record onDecember 23rd, 2012, to January 17th, 2013.The corrected weaning weight, repeatibility, and MPPA resulted, i.e: 21,58 ± 1,03 kg; 0,31; and21,58 ± 0,49 kg, respectively. The best 5 MPPA were showed by doe number P1 (22,41 kg); G1(22,34 kg); B2 (33,232 kg); P2 (22,27 kg); and F1 (22,25 kg).     Rooster medium type are constitute by-product of effort petelur's chicken hatch, one that is developed as breed of flesh producer. The success of the farm rooster medium type is influenced by many factors both external and internal factors. One of the internal factors which is also important in determining the growth rate is strain. The research aimed to determine the strain of roosters medium type which has better live weight, carcass, giblet, and abdominal fat by giving commercial broiler ration.  This research was up to 7 weeks of held from 19 May--7 July 2012 in the chicken coop of Department of Animal Husbandry, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung. The roosters used are roosters medium type strain Isa Brown and Lohman as many as 200 heads (with each strain 100 tails). This research consisted of two treatments, those are T1: Roosters medium type strain Isa Brown and T2: Roosters medium type strain Lohman. For each treatment consisted of 20 experimental plots with the trial unit for each plot is 5 heads. Of each that slot is taken 1 chicken to be made sample for pruned. The data obtained from this research was analyzed by using t-student test with significant level of 5% (Steel and Torrie, 1993). The variables observed were live weight, carcass, giblet and abdominal fat. The result of this research shows that: strain Isa Brown having living wight and karkas's wight the better than strain Lohman , although wight giblet and resulting abdominal fat both of strain that not different reality (P>0,05).     IDENTIFIKASI KUALITAS DEDAK YANG DISIMPAM DALAM BERBAGAI JENIS KEMASAN

    Rice bran is by product from rice milling and feed is one that is difficult to dry so provision when stored in large quantities with special packaging. Information about packaging materials has not been known. The purpose of this study was to determine the quality of bran that is stored in various types of packaging and determine the best packaging in storage. This study used completely randomized design followed by Least Significant Difference test. The variables measured were organoleptic and chemical testing. The results showed that a various packaging used in storage of rice bran for 6 weeks was significantly effect (P<0,05) to the texture, moisture content, and peroxide value, but were not significantly effect (P>0,05) to colour, odor, and the rate of fat rice bran.  In addition, position sampling in packaging for 6 weeks were not significantly effect (P>0,05) to colour and the texture, but was significantly effect (P<0,05) to odor of rice bran.     Oil palm ribs plantations are less utilized. This is due to stem oil is tough stems, leaf  spiked, and contains a stick that has a low digestibility values​​. The low digestibility is caused by the bonds between lignin and carbohydrates that can not be utilized by ruminants. Utilization of oil palm ribs as feed material is still limited because of the high lignin content of the low digestibility, requiring the application of technology to improve the nutritional value and digestibility of the stem oil. One way to do this is with the addition of urea, fungi Phanerochaete chrysosporium and Trametes sp into the oil palm ribs. The aim of this research is to know the proximate content and the best oil palm ribs processing as the result of the adding or urea, Phanerochaete crysosporium, and Trametes sp. to the content of ash, protein, fat, and NNE (Non Nitrogen Extract).  This trial used Completly Rondomizes Design (CRD) with 3 replications.  The data obtained was analized by using varience analysis on the test level of 5% or 1%, then continued by Least Significant Different (LSD).  The best treatment on this trial was the fermentation of oil palm ribs + Trametes sp.   Keywords: oil palm ribs, Lignin, Urea, Phanerochete chrysosporium, Trametes sp.

    Parent Productivity Index (IPP) is a picture of the ability of a parent to care for and raise theirchildren until the age of weaning until they reach a certain weaning weight within one year.Research purposes to determine the value of the parent group IPP Etawa Cross breed goats (PE)and determine the five male parent with IPP best value in the South Metro District, City Metro,Lampung Province.Survey method used in this study with a case study in the District of South Metro, Metro City. Thedata used are secondary data taken from the records of 40 breeding goats that had given birthtwice. The experiment was conducted on 20 October to 25 November 2012. Parameters observedin this study were aged mother at delivery, birth spacing, the number of children per birth parentgroup, birth weight and weaning, weaning age, sex, type of birth, and type of maintenance goatgroup.The results showed that the average weaning weight declined from 21.00 ± 1.05 kg, range 9.2 ±0.40 months of birth, number of children per birth tailed 1.83 ± 0.26, and 50.58 ± IPP values 8.76.IPP goat with the best value in a row C2 61.16; F2 59.79; G3 59.70; E2 59.29; I4 59.29. Based onthe results of this study suggested the goat breeders in the South Metro District 5 to give priority tothe goat breeders and other goat mother with IPP score above the average (21 of 40 head or52.5%) to be maintained in order to grown in population and get rid of the parent-parent with alow IPP score (14 out of 40 head or 35%)

    Rice bran is a side product of the rice mill in producing rice. Rice bran is the part of rice husk thatis generated from the rice bleaching process. This feed is a material that would become fragile oreasily damage if it is kept beyond a certain time. The oil content that is relatively high makes ricebran not durable because oil is easily hydrolyzed so that make it rancid due lipase contained inrice. Prevention of feed damage during storage can be done by providing materials containingcertain active substances that can prevent damage. Charcoal gives a solution to prevent damageduring storage because of feed ingredients are hygroscopic and porous, which can absorb water upto the point of balance. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the use of woodcharcoal and coconut shell charcoal to physical and chemical damage of rice bran during 8 weeksperiod of storage. The experimental method that was used in this study is completely randomizeddesign CRD with 3 treatments and 4 replications. The use of coconut shell charcoal is better inmaintaining the rice bran odor, reducing the decrease of fat levels and minimizing the increase ofperoxide when compared to administration of charcoal wood

    This research aimed to determine the effects of Ca and Mg organic supplementation in agroindustrialby products based diets on VFA and Ammonia (NH3) concentration in goat rumen fluid.The research was conducted in October 2012 in the pen of Department of Animal Husbandry,Agriculture Faculty University of Lampung. Analysis of feed and rumen fluid samples performedat the Laboratory of Nutrition and Feed Science, Department of Animal Husbandry. This studyused a randomized block design which is consist of three treatments and three replications. Bodyweight as replicates and treatments used are R0 = Basal Rations (100%), R1 = Basal Rations(99,46%) + Ca Organic 0.50% + Mg Organic 0.04%, R2 = Basal Ration (98,92%) + Ca Organic1.00% + Mg Organic 0.08%. Analysis of variance is used to determine the effect of treatment,followed by least significant test at 5% significance level and or 1%. The results of this studyindicate that supplementation of organic minerals Ca and Mg was not significantly (P> 0.05) affectthe VFA and Ammonia (NH3) of goat rumen fluid
