    Simulasi Kinerja Jaringan Nirkabel IEEE-802.11a dan IEEE-802.11g Menggunakan NS-2

    Wireless network uses transmission media based on radio waves. This type of networks is mainly useddue to its efficiency and mobility in data exchanging. This paper reports the modeling and simulation of wirelessnetworks based on Cisco Aironet 1130ag access point devices with IEEE 802.11a and IEEE 802.11g standards. Themodeling and simulation are performed using network simulator version 2 (NS-2) that is installed on operationsystem Linux Ubuntu v.10.10. The NS-2 is commonly used and works well in numerous types of network simulation. From simulation, we obtain quality of service parameters by employing several simulation scenarios in terms ofnumber of nodes, distances, and packet data sizes. It can be concluded from simulation results that the IEEE 802.11gnetworks transfer data with better quality than those of IEEE 802.11a networks. Furthermore, the IEEE 802.11gnetworks provide a higher throughput, with smaller amount of delay and packet loss percentage compared to thoseof IEEE 802.11a networks

    In daily life, it is often found that office buildings and shopping centers use air conditioning system (AC Central) for room cooling. The refrigerant in the cooling system releases the heat into the air with the help of the motor fan. In order to release the heat faster, the condenser pipe winding is designed and equipped with fins. The heat released from the condenser will be discharged to the air. This will lead to global warming if large numbers of air conditioning system are used. In this case, thermoelectric technology is a main alternative solution that can be implemented. Thermoelectric converts heat energy directly into electrical energy. Therefore, in this paper, we design a simple power system by utilizing waste heat energy from a condensor based on thermoelectric method. Based on the result of the experiment, an average temperature of 34C results in voltage of 3.14 Volts and power of 0.16 Watts

    The emergence of Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks (VANETs) as part of the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) technology development was expected to become an advanced method to solve the transportation system problem. The implementation of VANETs is expected to provide a new solution for traffic management strategy. Its main targets is to continue prioritizing traffic safety and to prevent the accidents on the roads. One of the VANETs problems before being implemented in the real world is the degree of freedom of the vehicle's mobility that limited by the road topologies. Various modellings and simulations have been performed to produce the most realistic mobility model. However, those models had become new paradigms due to various factors that limited them. The presence of the federated mobility model as an approach for traffic mobility modeling is considered to be able to provide more realistic and accurate VANETs simulation. Therefore, this article presents some brief reviews and contrast a number of the simulation and mobility models that have been used widely as compared to the federated mobility models that have developed until the present. The article's objective is to facilitate a better understanding of the traffic mobility modeling for the VANETs simulation that started from the interaction process until the integration between simulators. The understanding of the traffic mobility models will complement the knowledge that enable to perform the simulation of the VANETs implementation approaching the real conditions

    Portable Battery Charger Berbasis Sel Surya

    A type of solar battery charger is introduced in this paper. This equipment functions as a medium sizerechargeable battery that is needed to move culinary merchants and coastal fishermen living in area which isnot supplied by electrical networks. The equipment consists of solar module mounted onto portable mechanicalconstruction, a 12-V 7.5-Ah lead acid battery and charge controller. Solar module charges the battery throughcharge controller and then the battery can be discharged to power on electric lamps for lightening culinary wagonor fishermans boat at night. Charge controller charges the battery with float charging which is implemented bymaintaining 13.5 Volt between battery terminals and limiting the charging current to 1.5 Amperes. Charge controllercircuit is based on adjustable linear voltage regulator LM338. The battery is of sealed lead acid type. This type ofbattery is maintenance free and more hygiene than other types of lead acid battery. The field experiment of charging the baterry of 50% residual capacity from 8 am to 4 pm under sunny weather shows that the solar module hascharged the battery to its full capacity under battery safe charging conditions.Keywords: portable solar battery charger, float charging, LM33

Cloud computing offers hardware, infrastructure, platform and applications without requiring end-users knowledge of the physical location and the configuration of providers who deliver the services. It has been a good solution to increase reliability, reduce computing cost, and make opportunities to IT industries to get more advantages. The purpose of this article is to present a better understanding of cloud delivery service, correlation and inter-dependency. This article compares and contrasts the different levels of delivery services and the development models, identify issues, and future directions on cloud computing. The end-users comprehension of cloud computing delivery service classification will equip them with knowledge to determine and decide which business model that will be chosen and adopted securely and comfortably. The last part of this article provides several recommendations for cloud computing service providers and end-users

    FPGA Implementation of 16-bit Multipliers based upon Vedic Mathematic Approach

    This paper proposes design and implementation of a 16-bit multiplier based upon Vedic mathematicapproach, where the design has been targeted to the Xilinx Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) board, deviceXC5VLX30. The approach is different from a number of approaches that have been used to realize multipliers. Ithas been reported that previous algorithms such as Booth, Modified Booth, and Carry Save Multipliers only suitablefor improving speed or decreasing area utilization; therefore, those algorithms are not appropriate for designingmultipliers that are used for digital signal processing (DSP) applications. Moreover, they are not flexible to beimplemented on FPGAs or on a single chip using application specific integration circuits (ASICs). Vedic approach,on the other hand, can be used to design multipliers with optimum speed and less area utilization. In addition, it isreliable to be implemented on FPGAs or on a single chip. Behavioral and post-route simulation results prove that theproposed multiplier shows better performance in terms of speed compared to the other reported multipliers whenbeing implemented on the FPGA. In terms of area utilization, better results are also obtained

    WLAN is a technology that currently has been used widely. This technology is considered as a datatransferring media technology within the LAN/MAN. To ensure that WLAN technology can be used widely in thewhole world, the IEEE has set a standard known as 802.11 to be an international standard for the WLAN technology.This standard was appeared in 1997, and has been revised and improved for several times. This improvement is doneto anticipate the rapidly grown WLAN market as well as to keep this technology remains effective, efficient, andreliable at any time. At the beginning of 2014, the IEEE has set 802.11ac-2013 as a new standard for WLANs thatoperate below 6 GHz to achieve a data rate for up to 7 Gbps. The purpose of this article is to describe comprehensivelythe IEEE 802.11ac standard as a result of recent changes to the regulatory for WLAN technology which is knownas the first standard issued by the IEEE for the gigabit WLANs. This article discusses the goals and objectives to beachieved by 802.11ac standard as well as the parts that have been enhanced significantly both in its PHY and MAClayers.     Raspberry Pi is a small-sized computer, but it can function like an ordinary computer. Because it canfunction like a regular PC then it is also possible to run a web server application on the Raspberry Pi. This paperwill report results from testing the feasibility and performance of running a web server on the Raspberry Pi. Thetest was conducted on the current top three most popular web servers, which are: Apache, Nginx, and Lighttpd. Theparameters used to evaluate the feasibility and performance of these web servers were: maximum request and replytime.     Harmonics are known as one of the causes of decline in the quality of the electrical power system, whichcan cause a negative impact on electronic equipment. Harmonics reduction that has been achieved with the passivefilters is not quite satisfactory, thus development of active filters is required. This research proposes the use of parallelactive filter design using a three-level inverter with the scheme of Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC) that is used to reduceharmonics. The use of three stages Multilevel Inverter (MLI) on parallel active filter has several advantages that arelowering harmonic distortion and reducing stress switching. From the simulation results, it was obtained that threeparallel active filters were capable of reducing the level of harmonic currents and voltages at the source; THDi beforeinstallation of the filter was equal to 26,16% and can be lowered to 2,42%. While THDv was reduced from 0,45%to 0,17%. Fifth-order harmonics is the most disturbing harmonic component, in which the value of IHDi beforeinstalling the filter is equal to 21,44% and reduce to 1,2% after the installation of the active filter

    The research discusses about the energy saving techniques in the design of data logger devices based onAVR microcontroller for monitoring parameters of the air temperature and sunlight intensity in the visible lightspectrum. These energy reduction techniques include hardware aspects such as the use of the minimum system,peripherals power supply control and software such as sleep-mode. When the intensity of sun light increases,the interrupt pin will activate the system, otherwise the system is in a state of sleep-mode. The electrical energyconsumption of the data logger is continuously observed and recorded on an external memory (SD card) in real-timeas so the 24 hours energy consumption can be known and the long-term-used energy can be predicted. Based on theresults of measurements and calculations it is known that it takes energy of 8.23 Wh to turn the data logger for 24hours. With this reduction technique, the data logger energy consumption can be reduced by 68.5%.Keywords: data logger, energy saving, sun, sleep mode, interrup
