The celebration of the tercentenary of the death of Lope de Vega in 1935 gave relevance to the author’s name, which appeared frequently in newspapers. Studying the treatment that Lope and
his work received during that year in ABC, a conservative and monarchist daily newspaper from Madrid, we obtain a perfect example of a very common practice during the year under investigation:
the ideological use of the playwright’s work and figure in order to associate them with certain values and thus send a message that had little or nothing to do with him. Through the study of articles, news and theater reviews, the article intends to show the use that ABC made of the Fénix in his tercentenary and the image of him and his work it sought to promote.
Themistius, an orator, philosopher and politician of the fourth century A.D., was one of the most influential men of his time. His life flourished in a period of change, when Christianity was reaching its peak, while the pagan circles were getting more and more reduced. Even though Themistius belonged to these pagan circles, he always remained close to power and he managed to get the esteem of Christian emperors. Proof of that is the fact that Constantius II added him to the Senate of Constantinople in 355, maybe impressed by his oratorical skill. Besides, the emperor dedicated him a bronze statue, mentioned by Themistius himself in his Oration 4, where he makes clear that the statue came from this emperor. However, in other three passages which belong to later speeches, Themistius explains that two different emperors had honoured him with two bronze statues. It is evident that the former came from Constantius II, but it is not clear who was the sovereign that rewarded him with the second one. Discarded Constantius II, Jovian and Theodosius for different reasons, there are only two possibilities left: Julian or Valens.
The present work addresses the study of Asturian society in the 16th and 17th centuries, taking imported pottery productions as thepoint of connexion with the past. The material subject of the study comes from the archaeological excavations in the Carbajal Solis house(Oviedo, Asturias). These pieces form a wealthy repertoire of Iberian and European pottery. Together with the pottery, other cultural and socialinfluences would arrive and these are determinant for an understanding of the beginning of Asturian modernity.
Application of recyclable TiO2 spheres for photocatalytic degradation of emerging pollutants
A solvent-exchange approach for a template-free preparation of spherical TiO2 particles, based on precipitation of hydrous titania from aqueous titanium peroxo complex by organic solvents, has been presented. The photocatalytic TiO2-assisted decomposition of 2-(4-methylphenoxy)ethanol (MPET) has been studied in this work. The intermediate compounds of MPET photodegradation have been determined, and it has been found that the formation of p-cresol as intermediate is an another challenge to tackle in this process. The synthesized TiO2 spheres are recyclable and can be reused for four reaction cycles without losing their activity, while Aeroxide P25 fails to decompose MPET in the third run.9th European meeting on Solar Chemistry and Photocatalysis: Environmental Applications (SPEA

Stereoselective amination of racemic sec-alcohols through sequential application of laccases and transaminases
A one-pot/two-step bienzymatic asymmetric amination of secondary alcohols is disclosed. The approach is based on a
sequential strategy involving the use of a laccase/TEMPO catalytic system for the oxidation of alcohols into ketone intermediates, and their following transformation into optically enriched amines by using transaminases. Individual
optimizations of the oxidation and biotransamination reactions have been carried out, studying later their
applicability in a concurrent process. Therefore, 17 racemic(hetero)aromatic sec-alcohols with different substitutions in
the aromatic ring have been converted into enantioenriched amines with good to excellent selectivities (90-99% ee) and
conversion values (67-99%). The scalability of the process was also demonstrated when two different amine donors were used in the transamination step, such as isopropylamine and
cis-2-buten-1,4-diamine. Satisfyingly, both sacrificial amine donors can shift the equilibrium toward the amine formation, leading to the corresponding isolated enantioenriched amines with good to excellent results.-MICINN (Proyecto CTQ2013-44153-P)

Rate of biological invasions is lower in coastal marine protected areas
Marine biological invasions threaten biodiversity worldwide. Here we explore how Marine Protected
areas, by reducing human use of the coast, confer resilience against the introduction of non-indigenous
species (NIS), using two very different Pacific islands as case studies for developing and testing
mathematical models. We quantified NIS vectors and promoters on Vancouver (Canada) and Moorea
(French Polynesia) islands, sampled and barcoded NIS, and tested models at different spatial scales
with different types of interaction among vectors and between marine protection and NIS frequency. In
our results NIS were negatively correlated with the dimension of the protected areas and the intensity
of the protection. Small to medium geographical scale protection seemed to be efficient against NIS
introductions. The likely benefit of MPAs was by exclusion of aquaculture, principally in Canada. These
results emphasize the importance of marine protected areas for biodiversity conservation, and suggest
that small or medium protected zones would confer efficient protection against NIS introduction
