Expression and clinical significance of metalloproteases and their inhibitors by endothelial cells from invasive breast carcinomas
Aims: Given that tumor blood vessels are important in tumor progression and metastasis, tumor endothelial cells are the main targets of anti-angiogenic therapy. The aim of the present work was to evaluate the phenotype of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) and their tissue inhibitors (TIMPs)
from endothelial cells (ECs) at the tumor center and its relationship with MMPs/TIMPs global expression, as its relationship with the occurrence of distant metastasis.
Methods: An inmunohistochemical study was performed using tissue arrays and specific antibodies against MMPs (2, 7, 9, 11, 13 and 14) and TIMPs (1, 2 and 3), at tumor center in 104 patients with primary ductal invasive breast tumors.
Results: Our results demonstrated that MMP-11 expression by ECs was related with a shortened relapse-free survival, whereas TIMP-3 expression was related with low occurrence of distant metastasis. In addition, MMP-11 and TIMP-2 expression by ECs was associated with a shortened 3 overall survival, whereas TIMP-3 expression by ECs was associated with a higher overall survival.
However, our findings indicate significant relationships between the expression of MMPs/TIMPs by ECs and the global expression of these factors at the tumor scene.
Conclusions: The present work shows a high MMPs/TIMPs expression by ECs from breast carcinomas, which may be consequence of the crosstalk between tumor cells and their surrounding microenvironment
H2 production via sorption enhanced steam reforming of biomass-derived phenol in fluidized bed reactor
studied bio-oil model compounds.
The objective of the present study was to investigate the effect of the reforming reaction temperature on the H2 production by sorption enhanced steam reforming of phenol over a Pd/Ni-Co hydrotalcite-derived catalyst and using dolomite as CO2 sorbent in a bench-scale fluidized bed reactor. Experiments were carried out between 525 and 725 °C, using a low weight hourly space velocity (WHSV) of 0.3667 h-1. Possible interactions with other bio-oil compounds, such as acetic acid and acetone, were also studied in order to approach the simulation of the whole bio-oil behavior. H2 yield, H2 selectivity and H2 purity, as well as CH4, CO and CO2 concentrations in the effluent gas were assessed. Thermodynamic equilibrium analysis of the process was carried out in order to assess the theoretical feasibility of the process at the studied reaction conditions and to compare the equilibrium values with the experimental results.Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad (Projecto ENE2014-53515-P)

But-2-ene-1,4-diamine and But-2-ene-1,4-diol as Donors for Thermodynamically Favored Transaminase and Alcohol Dehydrogenase-Catalyzed Processes
cis- and trans-But-2-ene-1,4-diamine have been
prepared and efficiently applied as sacrificial cosubstrates in
enzymatic transamination reactions. The best results were
obtained with the cis-diamine. The thermodynamic
equilibrium of the stereoselective transamination process is
shifted to the amine formation due to tautomerization of 5Hpyrrole
into 1H-pyrrole, achieving high conversions (78-
99%) and enantiomeric excess (up to >99%) by using a
small excess of the amine donor. Furthermore, when the
reaction proceeded, a strong coloration was observed due to
polymerization of 1H-pyrrole.
A structurally related compound, cis-but-2-ene-1,4-diol, has
been utilized as cosubstrate in different alcohol
dehydrogenase (ADH)-mediated bioreductions. In this case
high conversions (91-99%) were observed due to a
lactonization process. Both strategies are convenient from
both synthetic and atom economy points of view in the
production of valuable optically active products-Ministerio español de educación y ciencia, proyecto CTQ2013-44153-P

Introduction: Primary Health Care has a key role in primary and secondary prevention of cervical cancer. The objectives we set to conduct a literature review of cervical cancer and its prevention and describe the technique of liquid-based cytology as an alternative to conventional cytology in primary care.
Description: cervical cancer is the second most common type in women, being necessary cause for its genesis but not enough HPV infection (human papillomavirus). The education and health promotion as well as secondary prevention through routine screenings are critical to reduce its incidence. Liquid-based cytology is a variant of the cervico-vaginal cytology or Pap traditional, allowing, among other advantages, make the same decision in the molecular test for HPV.
Conclusions: Cervical cancer is the main cause persistent infection with HPV, with the key primary prevention and transmission control. Liquid-based cytology is an effective alternative to conventional cytology, requiring preparation and training for which primary care professionals, and particularly nurses, are trained.
Synthesis of 1,3-Diaryl-3-trifluoromethylcyclopropenes by Transition-Metal-Free Reaction of 2,2,2-Trifluoroacetophenone Tosylhydrazones with Alkynes: The Effect of the Trifluoromethyl Group
1,3-Diaryl-3-trifluoromethylcyclopropenes and 2-aryl- or 2-alkyl 1,3-diaryl-3-trifluoromethylcyclopropenes are prepared in a very simple way by reaction between 1,1,1-trifluoroacetophenone tosylhydrazones and terminal or internal alkynes respectively in a
base promoted process that does not require the presence of any metal catalyst. The essential role of the trifluoromethyl group, which enables the formation of the cyclopropenes instead of the expected pyrazoles has been computationaly investigated, suggesting to the participacion of a free carbene
