Potential of Mainstay Debit of Lematang River, South Sumatra for the Regional Planning for Irrigation at Dongku and Modong
District Muara Enim, South Sumatra Province has a potential region to develop an agriculture sector especially rice fields. The water resource such as Water Enim and Lamatang River support the capacity of the developing. Acording to the study in 1985 carried out by the BCEOM and Kampsax consultants, the lower Lematang region. Dangku Kiri, Dangku Kanan, and Modong with the total area of about 10.000 Ha has a highly potential to built rice field ith the technical irrigation. Based on the information, research of dependable flow of Lematang River to the irrigation requirement had been carried out by analyzing of all data collecting in those area such as rainfall, climate, and discharge data. The result shows that the dependable flow of 20% probability of non exceedence is about 65.3 m3/sec. It is potential enough compare with the irrigation requirement of about 1.85 l/sec/ha or 18.5 m3/sec of total irrigation area. Technically, dependable flow of Lematang River is big enough but some constraints will appear especially in determining of free intake or weir because the river gradient is too low and the main channel has been used by the people for navigation. To increase the accuracy of the research, an Automatic Water Level Recorder and one climatological station should be installed respectively in the alternative I location and in the irrigation area
The Dangerous of Landuse Change at Semarang City
Town in veri dynamic area. Growth of populatio, both natural and migration (urbanization), need area for the settlement and their activities. Neccesity of area for settlement can’t be avoided. As a result, there is a landuse changing from non settlement area (set field, dry field, swamp, pond) to settlement area. This change will influence the hydro system balance in Semarang, for instance the extending of flooding area, etc. This research tries to find the characteristi of landuse change in Semarang. The characteristic involving how is pattern, process, intensity, and tendency. Pattern of landuse changing is sequence of using area before it became the settlement. Process of landuse change is by using the population are able to settle. Tendency is degree of landuse change speed. This research methods secondary analysis method, that is compare the statistic data of the landuse and map in 1980 and 2000. The sampling is by purposive random sampling method. Purposive is used so that all subdistricts in sub urban are represented. The sample area is the from percil in ertain coordinate. Result of this research shows that there is landuse changing rapidly that is decrease in the width of wet field, dry field, swamp, and pond. On the other hand, there is increase in width of settlement area and other dry land with intensity 232 ha every years. Wet field decrease 131,7 ha every years, swamp and pond 31 ha, and dry field 24,2 ha every years. In actually this landuse changing pattern is out of government policy. Semarang conversed. However, wet field is water habitat that is most potential. Tendency of sttlement growth is more facus on accesibility aspect and available city’s facilities only. Number of settlement are built on land which not suitable, such labile land, or high slope. It proves that the government control function is weak. The conclusion from this research that landuse changing has to be ontrolled restrainded, so it will not cause the bad effet in Semarang. Width the wet field is 10% by width town, must be conservation. Because wet field has ecology value and economic value that is rice production and absorb labour in agricultural sector. Therefore, function role of government controll must be actived
Orientation Use of Houses in Rural - Urban (A Case Study in the Eastern District of Kartasura, Sukoharjo 2001)
Kartasura, seen formspace point of view, has special position because it is located in the corridor intersection between Semarang – Surakarta – Yogyakarta. Which becomes three central developing cities in central part of Java. This study is carried out in border town area in east part of Kartasura, which consist of four village – Pabelan, Gonilan, Gumpang, and Makamhaji. That are growing fast due to the effect of urban characteristic from Surakarta. The orientation phenomena of the use of house (OPR), the urban population that led to the commercial use is an interesting fact dealing with the influence of urban activities in those areas. The goal of this study is to know the kindsand the spread of the space of OPR population in east part of Kartasura and the factors, which is studied, is the houses in the research areas and the respondents are the owner of the houses. The sampling uses systematic proportional random sampling. The location of house sample (UMS, UNS, Islamic Boarding Shcool of Assalam), health services (RSIS and RSO), and commercial services (ALFA, UMS stores). All of them are located in Pabelan and Makamhaji. While industrial center consist of PT Tyfountex and small industries around it in Gumpang. Every central activities is divided into two cluster based on the relative distance from central activities (far and near), so as a whole there are four clusters which made up of two clusters in service center and the other in industrial center. Sample at every cluster is taken proportional about 2,5% based on homogenity consideration, whether the selecction of house sampling is taken randomly. The numbers of samples as a whole 175 respondents. The collected data are prensented in the form of frequency and cross table. Qualitative data analysis uses logical thought, deductive induccctive, analogy and comparison, while quantitative data analysis is done using frequency table analysis and cross table. The use of both analysis is sadapted with the data and goal of the study. The result of this study shows that 1) OPR population in east part of Kartasura consist of three kinds, commercial OPR, non commercial, and combination. While the spreading space of the kind of OPR follows the concept of distance decay principle – the nearer relative distance of the house to the center of activities, the more commercial orientation the use of the house is. 2) External factor, which influence OPR, is the developing urban activities such industry, commerce, education, and health instrument. While the internal factor which influence to OPR is the size of land ownership
Analysis of Rainfall Intensity in Madiun Watershed, East Java
The aim of the reasearch in the area of Madiun River Basin is to make and to analyze the Intensity Duration Curve (IDC) i.e. the curve describing graphically the relation between rainfall intensity and rainfall duration in a certain frequent period. Formulation used in the research was Talbot Formula and Ishiguro’s. In the drafting of Intensity Duration Curve it was used specific coefficient i.e by using the rainfall data of fifteen and sixty duration for both applied formulations. The IDC recorded has not mean difference because in both formulation was used coefficient of the same value. The pattern of the rainfall intensity occured directed toward Nort East. It was happened because of the moving clouds directed toward that course. Depression occured at the backward of Mount Lawu, exactly toward East
The Challenge of Urban and Regional Development in the Future
The task of development is part of the overall national task carried out along governance. This task has been entrusted to the government as a gradual long-term task, planning, and sustainable. Implied in it, the intention to achieve a better state. Contained within the dimension of time setting goals, achieving goals, and overall utilization of benefits for citizens throughout the country. Enshrined also be aware that there will be found a variety of difficulties, limitations, and problems that must be solved. The problems of urban development in Indonesia can be viewed from two approaches, namely macro and micro approaches. A macro approach urban problems are reviewed in the context of the region (national scale). While the approach is seen as a micro city neighborhoods. This problem is closely related to the natural growth of the city population and population migration. Based on research on urban and regional development, it can be concluded: 1) the problem of urbanization of rural and small towns to large cities should be addressed; 2) urban spatial arrangements should be improved to do with increasingly limited land for development and urban development; 3) the provision of facilities and infrastructure of the city, city management, and financing of urban development, integration between government, society, and the private sector should be increased; 4) study of urban models that can accommodate all the problems of the city should be developed continuously
Bricks and Roof Crafting: Spatial Changes on Land and the Solution
As a natural resource land has a strategic position in various development progress mainly as an infrastructure and means of settlement. At present it seems that land demand is getting increase adjusts to population growth and development rate. In connection to this question land problem has a close linkage in clay mining to obtain raw material of brick and tile. Clay as a manufactured raw material is usually extracted out from soil of agricultural field. Apparently, the clay mining has much changed physical and non physical condition, among others; lowering of land surface, reduction of soil fertility, micro relief changes, area constraction of groundwater charge supply, and there will be a decrease of flora and fauna variation at the operation area of the clay mining
Prognosis: The Plan of Integrated Tourism Area of Kapuk Naga Beach, Tangerang, West Java
This paper tries to analyze of prognosis of the Integrated Tourism Area Planning of Kapuknnaga Beach (KWTPK) Tangerang Regency West Java. The two method applied to compose the prognosis are extrapolation and indication. The extrapolation is based on the local area infomation data of contemporary knowledge in the past and presence, while the indication method utilizes the whole interrelation activities programmed with the possible consequences. Land function transformation effects of KWTPK will cause environmental destroy as annual flsh flood, salt water intrusion and polution of urban’s industry sewage. As further effect there is a raising of turbidity and nitrition degree of sedimentation which make coral-ridge degradation toward annihilation. The coral-ridge annihilation will cause the sea waves power collide with the seashore area directly which threatens KWTPK
Application of Remote Sensing and GIS for Monitoring and Evaluation of the Reforestation Activities in Kupang district of East Nusa Tenggara
To support reforestation activities, spatially forestry data are inexorably needed to support the activities. By using multi –temporally data, reforestation activities an be identified and detected. To accomplish the purpose, this research uses Landsat TM data aquired in 1990 and 1995. Remotely sensed data and Geographyc Information System (GIS) are methods that can be applied to gather, monitor as well as analyse data swiftly and accurately. This research uses remotely sensed data to collect land cover features in given area. Geographyc information System is used to capture and to analyse reforestation data. The expected is GIS based forest management strategy making
Impact of Using Pendowo Liquid Organic Fertilizer Toward Land Potential at Jenar, Sragen, Central Java
The objectives of this research are to know the content of chemical elements found in waste of fluid organic in Jenar Banker in sub district of Jenar, Sragen and to know the influence of fluid organic fertilizer on the potency of area in Jenar. The collected data in this research are 1) topography, 2) geology, 3) geomorphology process, 4) area used, 5) horizon of the soil, 6) soil texture, 7) soil structure, 8) pH of the soil, 9) Nitrogen, 10) Phosphate, 11) Calium, 12) Calcium, 13) Magnesium, 14) the characteristic of physics and chemical elements in waste of Pendowo fluid organic fertilizer, and 15) the data dealing with interviewing to the civilization. For getting the area taken as the sample, this research uses stratified random sampling. While the analysis used in this study is descriptive method. The result of this research shows that 1) the main stone as the material for forming the land consists of sandstone, tuff of sand, limestone and clay (eaten for medicinal puposes); the relief is wave until making the hill, the plant consists of jati (teak), sonokeling, and the seasonal plants that exist in tegalan (dry field near the rie field but used for vegetables and other secondary crops), farm, and tebu (sugar cane) land. The land that has not influenced by the amine fertilizer, the characteristi of pH soil is base (more than 7,5). The structure of crumbs up to clump soil and texture of clay which have sand are relevant with jati (teak) and sonokeling growth. 2) the chemical elements of fluid organi fertilizer in Banker are not relevant with the chemical elements which are proposed by Paluraya Company. The element of nitrogen proposed is 4% while the result of the research shows 3,93%; 3,6%; 2,26%; 0,887%; 0,09%; 0,137%; 0,171%; 0,156%; 0,187%; 0,167%; 0,175%; and 0,108%. The pH of the fertilizer proposed is 5,5 – 6,5 while the finding of the research shows there are pH 4,65; pH 3,6; pH 4,5; and pH 5,41. The element of phosphate proposed is 0,3% while the result of the research shows that is less of 0,3%, they are 0,22%; 0,1%; 0,001%; 0,0053%; 0,0095%; 0,0077%; 0,0053%; 0,0047%; 0,0052%; 0,0055%; and 0,0072%. The element of calcium proposed is 1,2% but the finding of the analysis from 9 sample of calcium elements are less of 0,2%. 3) The potency of the land lower from time to time and it will become serious problems because there is a series changes of soil structure to be clay strong, the forming of complex cropping board of salt, pedal lay and pH soil become sour. By becoming sour, so the growth of the pants and the development of the plants in the area of the research will be destroyed more over, they will not grow anymore
