Family Planning Behavior and Small Family Concept Acceptance in Two Different Geographical Characteristics Municipality of South Klaten, Klaten, Central Java
The research aim to know the family planning behaviour, the acceptance small family norm and the influential factors in two villages that have different geographical aspect. The behaviour involve the knowledge, the attitude and the practice where as the influential factors involve education, accupation, values of children, income, children still born and family size desired. The research areas are chosen purposive in two villages that have different geographical aspect, social aspect and cultural aspect. The aspect are: 1) location and topography, 2) socialy structure, and 3) the achievement of effective acceptor. Based on the three aspects, Ngalas village (developing) and Sumberejo (developed) are chosen as research areas. The recorded as ative acceptor (recordedin RI/PUS/1991 form). The respondents are chosen by cencus at two neighborhoord association at every village. There are six variables in this research are assumed influence the periode of the contraceptives use, such as education, occupation status, values of children, family income, children still born, and family size desired. There are three variables are assumed influence the small family norm, such as education, occupation status, and values of children. The data was analyzed by frequency table, crosee table, and statistical analysis (Q square and Regresion). The data was always compared between the two villages. The analysis use computer by Microsoft Program. The research result showed that Sumberejo was better than Ngalas in the knowledge, the attitude, and the practice of family planning. Most of the people who live in Sumberejo understood the contraception device well (52,4%), where as in Ngalas (26,8%). Both of them agreed on using contraception device (more than 70%). The respondent who live in Sumberejo used IUD (40%) and MOW/MOP (23,23%). They had used of the contraception device for 4.8 years on an average. Mean while the respondents in Ngalas use IUD (23,68%) and MOW/MOP (2,63%). They had used the contraception device for 3,8 years on an average. With respect to decision making of family planning. Sumberejo was better than Ngalas (Sumberejo: 83,4% and Ngalas 63,64%). The purpose of family planning has achieved birth stop. Sumberejo achieved 73,33% and Ngalas achieved 54,55%. The research result showed that the both Sumberejo and Ngalas accepted small family norm. Values of children were heigh (Sumberejo 97,57% and Ngalas 93,31%). It indicates that the parent still hope the children role for their family. Not only did the parent hope from economics aspect but they hoped from non economic aspect as well. Both the average of live birth and the children who still alive in Sumberejo was lower than Ngalas. Mean while the number of the children who were desired was 2,9 child in Sumberejo and 2,8 in Ngalas. Based on seven statement that was used to identify the small family, there was tendency that the respondent in Sumberejo had better attitude than Ngalas about small family. The factor that influence the period of the contraception device was the number of the children who still children, income, and family planning norm did not influence the period of using of contraception device. The influential factors in acceptance of small family was education. The higher education the better aception of small family norm. Values of children also influenced the acceptance of small family norm, but there was difference of the direction between Sumberejo and Ngalas. In Sumberejo the higher occupation the better aceptance of small family norm, but in Ngalas, the higher percentance occupation the lower acceptance of small family norm
The Influence of Cultivation System on Distribution Profile Of 137cs and Erosion / Deposition Rate
137Cs radiogenic content in the soil can be used to estimate the rate of erosion and deposition in an area occurring since 1950’s, by comparing the content of the 137Cs in observed site with those in a stable reference site. This experiment aimed to investigate the influence of cultivation type on distribution profile of 137Cs and distribution of erosion and deposition rate in cultivated area. A study site was small cultivated area with slope steepness 10o and length 2 km located in Bojong – Ciawi. For this purpose, the top of a slope was chosen for reference site and three plot sites were selected namely Land Use I that using simple cultivation, Land Use II that using simple cultivation with ridge and furrow, and Land Use III using machine cultivation. The results showed that cultivation could make a movement of 137Cs to the deeper layer and ridges and furrows cultivation system could minimized an erosion process. The net erosion and deposition for land Use I, II and III were -25 t/ha/yr , 24 t/ha/yr and -58 t/ha/yr, respectively
Changes of Groundwater Quality in the Sorrounding Pollution Sources Due to Earthquake Dissaster
Groundwater is the main domestic water supply of the population of the Yogyakarta Special Region, both in the urban and as well as in the rural area due to its quantity and quality advantages. The rapid population growth has caused an increase of groundwater demand, consequently it is facing some problems to the sustainability of groundwater supply. Lowering of groundwater level has been observed in some places, as well as the degradation of groundwater quality. Earthquake which stroke Yogyakarta on 27 May 2006, damaged buildings and other infrastructures in the area, including roads and bridges. It might also damage the underground structures such as septic tanks, and pipes underneath the earth surface. It might cause cracking of the geologic structures. Furthermore, the damage of underneath infrastructures might create groundwater quality changes in the area. Some complains of local community on lowering and increasing groundwater level and groundwater quality changes were noted. Field observation and investigation were conducted, including collection of groundwater samples close to (the) pollution sources. Laboratory analyses indicated that some parameters increased to exceed the drinking water quality standards. The high content of Coli form bacteria possibly was caused by contamination of nearby septic tanks or other pollution sources to the observed groundwater in the dug well
Perubahan Permukiman Perdesaan Pesisir Kabupaten Gunung Kidul Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta Tahun 1996-2003
One of the impacts of coastal region development is settlement change. Because of that, this article presents a result of research about changing of settlement land area, house buildings, settlement facilities since 1996 up to 2003, and several factors which influence to the changing. This research was carried out in 20 karst villages borders on Indian Ocean so-called coastal villages in of Gunungkidul Regency as analysis units. Data analysis employs so-called secondary data analysis method, using Village Potentials Cencus (PODES) data were published in Statistics Central Bureau. Data analysis employs frequency, cross tabulations, and statistical analysis. Result of this research shows that as long as 1996 up to 2003 the settlement land area increases on 0.24 % per annum on an average, while the house building number on 6.14 % per annum. Spatially several coastal rural villages are near or as a tourism object or as a district office locations are higher developing than the others of coastal rural villages. It means that the development of tourism objects as long as 1996 up to 2003 has influenced the coastal rural settlement development. Generally, the development of coastal rural settlement is significantly also influenced by thirteen of physical and socio-economical factors (R=0.903; Sig.=0.05). In detail however, among the 13th of physical and socio-economical factors are only five factors significant influence to the development of coastal rural settlement. The 5th factors are the average of place elevation, well number, propotion of agriculteral land area, household densty, and population density. Based on that findings in order to develope of coastal rural settlement especially in karst region, besides the development of tourism objects, the five factors should be taken in consideration
Geospatial Analysis and Turbidity Measurement for Monitoring Suspended Solid of Hitotsuse Dam in Miyazaki Prefecture, Kyushu, Japan
The existence of suspended solids at Hitotsuse dam, Miyazaki Prefecture, Kyushu, Japan, has been the main concern of Kyushu Electric Power Company. These have been carried by rivers flowing into the dam. In a long term, it is worried that this phenomenon will potentially cause the environmental degradation, especially around the dam, where the Kyushu Electric Power Plant is located. Therefore, necessary measures are required to protect the dam from environmental degradation, which in return is to assure its long term power plant operational. Preliminary studies found that the suspended solid, which was generated upstreams and was carried out into the dam by rivers, causes the turbid water resident. Therefore, evaluation on the potential sources of the existence of the suspended solids needs to be carried out. In this research, analysis was conducted to understand the spatial distribution and the quantity of the suspended solid. For this purpose, by focusing attention on the upper river basin of reservoir, several factors which are possible to cause turbid water are extracted and analyzed quantitatively by using GIS. To understand the characteristic of the river turbidity, river flows and river turbidity are measured at several selected stations. Then mechanical factors causing turbid water are identified after analyzing relationship between efflux characteristics and possible factors of suspended solids. The results show that spatial information extraction could be done efficiently by applying spatial analysis method. Furthermore, by applying multiple regression analysis, it was found that landslide scars, artificial forests, drainage area, and terrain undulation are indicated as the dominant factors causing the turbidity
The Effectiveness of Canopi to Reduce Rainfall Acidity in the Industrial Area at Medan
The term of acid rain is referred to the mean rainfall with a pH less than 5.65. The element of SOx and NOx are the major sources of acid rain. These two elements are oxidized into S04 and N03 respectively in the air. Sulfate and nitrate are water soluble and the primary sources of hydrogen ions in acid precipitation. Rain passing through a tree canopy may lose or gain mineral elements through some combination of natural process of absorption and leaching. By this process, the canopy may reduce rainfall acidity and negative effects of the acid rain which will enter into the soil. Due to characteristic differences among tree canopies, a study to evaluate effectiveness of the trees in reducing rainfall acidity was done. In this study, rainfall and through fall were collected every single rain and the pH measured by portable pH-meter. Based on data collection during 3 months in Medan Industrial Estate, it found that the mean pH of rainfall was 5, 15. The highest pH of through fall was found from Gnetum gnemon, that was 5.70, following by Mimusops elengi, Filicium decipiens, Adacia mangium and the lowest was Nephelium lappacum. G. gnemon was able to reduce 11% of rainfall acidity, but N. lappacum caused 13 %increasing rainfall acidity. In this study, the main source of rainfall acidity was hydrogen from sulfate acid (54%), following by chloride acid (30%) and nitrate acid (16%)

Sistem Akuifer dan Potensi Airtanah Daerah Aliran Sungai (DAS) Opak
Opak River Basin is an area with high concentration of settlement. Generally, the settlement use groundwater as a water source. Variation of groundwater condition cause differentiation of water usage in some regions. There are two objectives of this research. First, to determine aquifer system in the research area and second, to calculate the groundwater potential in each aquifer system. To achieve these objectives, aquifer system is determined base on its geology and geomorphology, whereas groundwater potency is calculated by static and dynamic approach. As a result, show that the aquifer system in Opak River Basin can be distinguished into seven aquifer system. There are The Upper Merapi Aquifer System, The Middle Merapi Aquifer System, The Lower Merapi Aquifer System, Baturagung Range Aquifer System, The Aquifer System of Baturagung Range Foot Slope, Sentolo Hill Aquifer System and Sanddune Aquifer System. Among the seventh aquifer system, The Middle Merapi Aquifer System, The Lower Merapi Aquifer System and The Sanddune Aquifer System have high productivity. Sentolo Hill Aquifer System and The Aquifer System of Baturagung Range Foot Slope Aquifer have low productivity, whereas The Baturagung Range is categorized as non akuifer
