Improvements within the Scope of Ecological Design: Dadia Ecotourism Area (Greece)
It is not right to evaluate the ecological design concept that includes past, present and future perspectives only with new building designs that comply with ecological principles. Improving existing ecological measures, improving their space comfort\energy\ efficiency is of utmost importance for optimum utilization and conservation of resources. From this point of action, Dadia one of the major ecological tourism areas of Greece is presented with suggestions for improvement and development in terms of ecological design. In this sense, ecological design and ecological tourism related assumptions are explaining and supporting the current situation of ecological tourism center in accordance with the Dadia analyzing. The use of renewable energy sources in the existing service, the transport of vehicles with high CO2 emissions in the tourist area and transport problems for disabled people have been identified. A solution proposal was established within the framework of ecological design measures for these basic problems. The results of the study are specific to the field and provide an idea applicable to the ecological improvement of an existing area
THE LEGAL PROTECTION OF PREGNANT WORKERS AND WORKING MOTHERS ACCORDING TO TURKISH LABOUR LAW
The number of women that participated in the labour market is increasing with every passing day. Besides, the request to control one's own individual preferences and also the amount of time is emerging. Thus, to raise their children employees have recess to their occupation or they want to have short time working. In this context, the new regulations brought to working life that get out of traditional approach, has become to ensure harmony in work and family life. After the women took place as workers, the necessity of protecting the women in the worklife became important. The protection was firstly held by the international regulations. Regulations have been enacted to prevent the gender discrimination. These regulations contain provisions on various measures such as income inequality, the limitation of working hours, and types of work, which are not suitable for the female workers. Turkish Constitution states that the men and female workers have the equal rights, however the woman workers are granted by special rights in terms of working conditions.Maternity in working life was reflected to the regulations also as motherhood; pregnancy and confinement. Each of these cases has led to the different regulations should be made for women in working life. All these processes are effective in women's recruitment, the organization of work, working conditions and termination of the employment contracts. The author discusses the harmonization of the Turkish Labour Code No. 4857 and the further related legislation in Turkey to the international legislation. In conclusion, the author points out the fact that, the Turkish and international legislation have already been successfully harmonized to a wide extent, whereas the development of the legal practice in the same way has failed.
A RESEARCH TOWARDS DETERMINING THE ECOTOURISM AND ECO-ENTREPRENEURSHIP POTENTIAL OF NAZARKÖY
The aim of this research is to discover the ecotourism and eco-entrepreneurship potential of Nazarköy. Within this scope, the natural, cultural and geographic sources of the region and the perspective of local people on ecotourism and eco-entrepreneurship were focused. Nazarköy is a pretty settlement center located in Kemalpaşa district of İzmir, 4-5 km away from the district, 2 km.s inward from Torbalı highway, on the foothills of Nif Mountain. The means of living in the village with a population of approximately 400 people are cherries, tobacco and evil eye beads. The research is based on descriptive, heuristic, interview and observation. Within the scope of study, 30 people were face-to-face interviewed among the local people, it was endeavored to observe the local people and visitors by visiting the region and discovering the natural and cultural sources on-site. Participants in the interview give full support to the approach where sensitivity to the environment, necessity of awareness activities, management that does not harm the environment and natural environment are very important. As a result of the conducted studies, it was found out that Nazarköy has a rich potential for ecotourism activities. It was observed that the region has suitable natural sources for ecotourism activities such as festival tourism, mountain/rock climbing, trekking with horse, local handicrafts, nature photography, discovery of nature, bicycle tourism, camp/caravan tourism and scouting. Furthermore it can be stated that the existing business owning entrepreneurs and those individuals with potential to set up new businesses have an eco-entrepreneurial approach.
LCA of a Mass Housing Area from an Energy Based Economy Perspective
As a technique that covers a system or environment from cradle-to-grave, Life-Cycle Assessment (LCA) assesses an environment-economy associated evaluation considering all the stages of a product's life. Buildings and settlement zones are known to be major energy consumption areas that lead to emission of significant amounts of greenhouse gases and to economic losses. In this study, the efficiency analysis of the YYÜ TOKİ Lodgments is conducted through the energy based economic LCA analysis. A comprehensive energy analysis is made to evaluate the economic LCA of the energy system in this settlement area, utilizing year-long temperature measurements for outside and indoors. The results of the study indicate a large potential of economic benefit conservation for the case area despite the fact that energy performances of sample site are relatively high compared to the current building stock averages of Turkey

The wars that have taken place throughout the history of mankind have brought many deaths and devastation. Throughout history, visits have been realized to areas where battles have taken place. In our age of information technology with the developments experienced in communication technologies, many experiences have emerged that directed the members of societies to tourism movements. One of these experiences is tourism movements for battlefields. In this research, the battlefields that existed throughout history but which have begun to be discussed recently in the academic world have been explored. European institutions and their websites related to battlefields examined. Three institutions and their websites determined after the application of snowball sampling method. Firstly qualitative information related to three institutions examined and secondly quantitative information regard to events advertised in institutions’ web sites analyzed. Finally, some suggestions have been put forward about the tourism demand and its structure for these areas
ANALYSIS OF THE EFFECT OF FOREIGN DIRECT INVESTMENT ON ECONOMIC GROWTH: THE CASE OF GHANA
This paper analyzes the effect of foreign direct investment in a typical developing economy: Ghana, for the period 1980-2015. The Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) results show that foreign direct investment has a negative and statistically significant effect on economic growth. The result seem to support the argument that foreign direct investment into the industrial sector might not be growth enhancing. In addition the results showed that trade openness had a negative and statisticlly significant effect on economic growth. Gross Domestic Investment and the human capital proxy were found to have a positive, though, statistically insignificant effect on growth. Gross Fixed Capital formation was also found to have a negative and statistically insignificant effect on economic growth. To investigate the long run equilibrium relationship, Johansen and Juselius co-integration approach is used, while the speed of adjustment in the short run is analyzed through the use of Vector Error Correction Method (VECM) method. In order to check for the direction of causality between the two variables, the Toda Yamamoto Granger causality test is applied. The results indicate that foreign direct investment has a negative effect on economic growth in Ghana in the long run.
Developing Quality Control Charts for the Control Points of a Food Product
Monitoring the production process is a critical issue for improving the quality of product and for reducing the costs regarding external failures. Quality control charts are often used to visualize measurements on the process during the monitoring activities. This paper presents a case study based on the use of advanced charts, Cumulative Summation (CUSUM) and Estimated Weighted Moving Average (EWMA) charts, for visualizing the control points of a particular chicken product in fast-food industry. Furthermore, GM (1,1) and GM (1,1) Markov models were built to generate predictions to see the trends and future values to maintain a follow-up procedure for the fluctuations in the process performance. In this context, three control points are considered that are weight of the chicken wings, sterilizer temperature, and grid-pan temperature. The findings provide a significant feedback for the efficiency of the corresponding processes. Results show that the methodology selected to develop these charts has an important impact on creating an effective quality control process
Impact of sentiment indicators on the capital market dynamics and default probability
This paper examines the impact of sentiment indicators on the financial market dynamics and default probability. First, we use GARCH models and Granger Causality Test in order to test the relationship between sentiment indicators and capital market dynamics of eleven Southeastern European countries. Second, we employ GARCH models and Granger Causality Test to examine the influence of sentiment indicators on the sovereign credit risk in Bulgaria. The analyzed period is from January 2005 to November 2015. The results reveal that the consumer sentiment information and inflation expectations have influence on the financial market dynamics of SEE stock indices. Test results present that sentiment variables may explain CDS spread changes efficiently. We observe bilateral relations, which may be accepted as proves that turmoil periods may be led by panic and fear of investors without any enormous change in other factors
