Exploring Stability of Ijarah Financing Market in Full Fledged Islamic Banks

    Get PDF
Ijarah contract is apparent analogues to conventional lease contract for customers, but in essence, it is different. Many empirical studies have worked on the issues and acceptability of Ijarah. However, the exploration of demand and supply based determinants of Ijarah is overlooked. This study is designed to find such determinants using the bank-based indicators from financial statements and macroeconomic data for countries with full-fledged Islamic banks. This study has used Panel FGLS model to estimate the demand for Ijarah and supply of Ijarah models using determinants via theoretical model and empirical literature. The result of the study is instrumental in determining the equilibrium Ijarah and future trends in terms of under- or over-supply of Ijarah. Further, this study has identified the price elasticity of demand and supply for the case of Ijarah financing. Islamic banks can identify their operational strategies based on the elasticity of their Ijarah product

Countries that attach importance to education make great investments in the field of educational technologies by reforming their education systems in this direction in order to raise dynamic individuals who can meet the needs of society, just like technology. It is undoubtedly teachers who will use these technologies in educational environments and transfer them to new generations. It is very important to reveal the factors that encourage or limit the use of these technologies in schools. In this study, the Technology Acceptance Model for Teachers (TAMT), which is the extended version of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), was used. Data analyzes were performed using the IBM AMOS V24 (Chicago, USA) program. Various statistical techniques such as descriptive statistics, multivariate statistical techniques and structural equation modeling were used in this study. The tested TAMT explained 54.6% of teachers' behavioral intentions to use information technologies, 49.2% of their attitudes towards use, 27.7% of perceived usefulness, and 39.8% of perceived ease of use. Of the 32 hypotheses defined in TAMT, 11 were accepted as meaningless and 21 as significant. &nbsp

Forecasting the Future Requirements of Customers for New Products

    Get PDF
This study focuses on finding a conceptual framework which can be used to predict the future customer requirements (CRs). of the target market segment for new product development. The lack of historical data is a problem for forecasting when it comes to new products, so existing forecasting methods are carefully examined. When developing new products, the first step is to understand the customer needs or requirements and their importance. Then, Kano Model is used to identify customer requirements’ categories, to modify weights and predict the changes of states for each customer requirement. With the help of Markov Chain, the probability of states for each CR is predicted to generate four data points. At this point Grey Theory is a suitable tool, as it only requires four data points for a robust forecast. Grey Model (1,1) is applied to the data to predict the change in weight of CRs. To demonstrate the framework in work, a case study on notebooks has been realized. The framework is illustrated on an example new product

Modelling Volatility and Leverage Effect in Container Freight Market

    Get PDF
Shipping is highly volatile, cyclical, and capital-intensive industry based on the prevailing price levels, which makes ship-owners or companies to take an account of market volatility to run stable business operations. Thus, knowing volatility structure would put them in healthy decision-making process of portfolio diversifications, hedging and managing freight rate risks and forecasting shipping freights rates. Therefore, modelling the volatility of container freight market provides an effective prediction mechanism, which can enhance the decision-making process among shipping players. The purpose of this study is to examine the properties of volatility in the industry standard Shanghai Containerized Freight Index (SCFI) return values by employing an Exponential Generalized Autoregressive Conditional Heteroscedasticity (EGARCH) model. The results of empirical analysis indicate that both volatility persistence and leverage effect are obvious for SCFI, meaning the impact of external shocks in container shipping market are asymmetric. Also, container freight rates require a long time for the effects of the shocks to be disperse on their own. Lastly the results revealed high index sensitivity ratios for the model, which supports the phenomenon of shipping industry being one of the quickest and harshest reflecting sectors to the developments in the global economy

    Get PDF
This study aims to determine the effect of locavorism on behaviour intention in the context of Goal-Oriented Behaviour Theory. The research population consists of tourists participating in the Alaçatı Herb Festival in İzmir province, and the survey technique was used to obtain the data by purposive sampling. The questionnaires were collected face-to-face between 24-28 March 2022, and 445 questionnaires were subjected to analysis. In the research, SmartPLS statistical software was used to test the hypotheses for the Goal-Oriented Behaviour Model, and locavorism scales and the structural equation model were used to analyse the data. In this context, according to the tourists participating in the research, it was determined that only negative anticipated emotions among the variables in the Goal-Oriented Behaviour Model did not affect desire, and all other variables affected the model. In addition, it was determined that lionisation and opposition from the dimensions of the locavorism variable affected behaviour, but communalization did not have an effect. Suggestions were developed in line with the results of the study

The Interplay Between Cognitive Flexibility, Emotion Regulation, and Work-Life Balance: Exploring the Mediating Effect of Job Crafting

    Get PDF
With the rise of remote work practices, employees' personal and professional lives have become more intertwined, highlighting the significance of the work-life balance issue. Within academic research, there is a growing interest in exploring the coping mechanisms used by employees to uphold a harmonious work-life balance. This study focuses on emotion regulation (reappraisal and suppression) and cognitive flexibility (alternatives and control) as strategies utilized by employees to preserve their work-life balance and the mediating effect of job crafting in this relationship. To reveal the mentioned relationships, structural equation modeling is employed. The participants were chosen among workers whose organizations implemented a remote work policy due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Findings show both dimensions of cognitive flexibility and the reappraisal dimension of emotion regulation have important effects on job crafting. It is also demonstrated that job crafting significantly affects work-life balance, but the mediation effect cannot be proved with this structural equation model

Social Representations of Women Managers in Private Banking Industry

    Get PDF
Women’s presence in managerial positions in banking industry has grown globally, although men still seem to dominate these positions in Turkey. This article investigates the way and extent to which the social representations of women managers in private banking industry in Turkey has evolved recently. We compare and contrast representations of men and women in two periods: 2008 (N=220) and 2018 (N=172), by observing the changes and evolutions/transformations that occurred over a decade. Besides the positive representations observed for women managers among male and female participants similar to previous studies, negative representations were also discovered with contrasts among men and women. An important highlight of the study was the increased number of negative representationsassociated with women managers by women participants between 2008 and 2018.  This study has important practical implications about women managers’ training

Economic Growth and Financial Development: Evidence from Panel Cointegration Tests in Emerging Countries

    Get PDF
This study analyzes the long-run relationship between economic growth (EG) and financial development (FD) in 27 emerging countries over the period 1980 to 2018 by employing the Johansen-Fisher panel cointegration method. The study also performs the vector error correction model (VECM) to determine the direction of a causal relationship among the variables. Two components of the index of financial development introduced by Svirydzenka (2016), financial markets and financial institutions indices, are employed to reveal through which channels EG has a long-term association with FD. Empirical findings show a significant long-run association between EG, the overall index of FD, and its sub-indices. Furthermore, the results from panel VECMs indicate a one-way unidirectional causality between EG and the FD index, while there is a two-way causality between EG and financial markets as well as between EG and financial institutions indices in the short run. We obtain similar results with Kao and Pedroni panel cointegration tests. We also show that financial institutions and financial markets significantly affect economic growth in the long run

    Get PDF
The study discussed quiet quitting (QQ) in the public sector context. In this context, it has been investigated the definition of quiet quitting in the public sector, individual and organizational factors contributing to QQ, the importance of managers in Quiet Quitting (QQ), the consequences of Quiet Quitting Behavior (QQB), and the effects of the pandemic. The data were obtained through in-depth interviews conducted with 13 voluntary participants working in public institutions. Maxqda Program was used for analyzing the data. According to the results, it was concluded that QQB could be more prevalent among individuals with longer tenure and older age in public institutions. In public institutions, QQ was expressed through the concepts of "System Problem and Desperation," "Attitude," "To be offended," and "Passive aggression-Emotional Dissatisfaction". The most intense emotions felt by those experiencing the QQ process were devaluation, unhappiness, and desperation. The primary organizational reasons for QQB were found to be a lack of motivation and recognition

Examining the Relationship Between the Level of Development of Countries and the Participation of Women in the Labor Market

    Get PDF
Regardless of the development level of the countries, the labor force participation rate plays a critical role in the social and economic development of the countries. For this reason, women's participation in the labor market, which creates half of the world's population, is very important in terms of improving the position of women in society and taking part in business life. It is evidence of gender inequality that women have less labor force participation than men or more barriers for women in the labor market. However, for the last 20 years, more studies have been carried out on women's participation in the workforce and ensuring gender equality, and projects that increase women's participation in the workforce have been supported. Social and economic development of countries accelerates as women take part in the labor market and work on equal terms with men in the labor market. In this study, it is aimed to examine the difference between men and women in the labor market and female employment in selected countries and regions using ILO, Word Bank and OECD data. It focuses on the difficulties experienced by women in the labor market and the barriers women face when entering the labor market. By emphasizing the importance of women's position in the economy, proposals, conventions and decisions prepared by international organizations in order to prevent gender inequality in the labor market for the social and economic development of countries and to prevent all kinds of violence and discrimination against women are examined. The aim of this study is to draw attention to the positive relationship between women's role in the labor market and economic and social development, and to offer solutions and policy recommendations to prevent gender inequalities in the labor market for the sustainable economic and social development of countries
