ANALYSIS OF VIETNAMESE WOMEN'S BODY SHAPE FROM ANTHROPOMETRIC DATA

    Get PDF
This study aims to classify and analyze the body shapes of Vietnamese women aged 18 to 50 using 3D anthropometric data. Research data was collected from 480 females across three regions: North, Central, and South. The five body types result from data analysis involving principal component analysis, K-means cluster analysis, numerical discriminant analysis, ANOVA test, and T-test comparison using SPSS software. Group 1, accounting for 15.23 %, represents the “short, thin, small-shouldered” body type with medium hip height and a bust-waist ratio higher than the hip-waist ratio. Group 2, accounting for 18.36 %, can be described as the “tall, slightly fat and large-shoulders” body type, characterized by high stature and hip height, with a bust-waist ratio smaller than the hip-waist ratio. Group 3, accounting for 35.94 %, falls under the category of the "Medium body type", with an average height stature and a fit body, and a bust-waist ratio equal to the waist-to-hip ratio. Group 4, representing 21.88 %, has a low hip height, a bust-waist ratio higher than the hip-waist ratio, and can be called the “short, fat, medium-shoulder” body type. Finally, group 5, which comprises 8.59 %, embodies the “too fat, average height, big shoulders” body type, featuring low hip height, and a bust - waist ratio higher than the hip-waist ratio. The method of body classification in this study is scientifically sound and reliable. The new research results can serve as a reference for the garment industry while contributing to the goal of building a virtual model library within 3D design software

Investigating the determinants and effects of prestige sensitivity in fashion retailing

    Get PDF
Targeting the prestige fashion segment enables fashion retailers to continue growing while facing a challenging environment. To attract prestige-sensitive consumers, it is important to understand their buying motivations and responses to retail actions. Thus, this paper examines the motivational predictors and effects of prestige sensitivity in fashion retailing, using the symbolic self-completion theory as a framework. It also explores the moderating role of fashion innovativeness. The data collected from shoppers of apparel products (N = 289) in Croatia were analyzed using structural equation modelling (SEM). The results show that recognition enhancement, sexual attraction, and recreation shopping motivations, which help enhance individuals’ self-identity in society, drive prestige sensitivity. At the same time, fashion innovativeness significantly moderates the relationship between recreation motive and prestige sensitivity. Prestige-seeking consumers positively respond to mannequin displays, spend more time shopping, and focus more on symbolic apparel attributes while shopping. This study contributes to the self-completion theory applied in fashion retailing by developing and testing the model that links prestige sensitivity with shopping motivations, fashion innovativeness, the selection of apparel attributes, response to visual merchandising, and time expenditure. The findings provide recommendations for marketers on how to develop fashion products/prestige brands in line with the expectations of prestige-seeking shoppers, target this market segment more efficiently, and increase the effectiveness of marketing efforts

Článek představuje aktuálně probíhající projekt zaměřený na propojování matematické, čtenářské a jazykové gramotnosti žáků všech ročníků základní školy skrze práci se slovními úlohami. Příspěvek seznamuje s hlavními cíli a teoretickými východisky projektu a nabízí přehled a stručnou charakteristiku čtyř typů vyvíjených metodických materiálů. This journal issue is devoted to teaching materials developed within a TAČR project Support of the integration of mathematical, reading and language literacy in primary school pupils. The introductory article by Havlíčková et al. introduces the main goals and theoretical background used when preparing the materials. Their purpose is to support teachers in developing pupils' ability to solve word problems by developing reading, language and metacognitive skills. Pupils are first guided by questions to analyse the word problem's text and become aware of the actors involved and the relationships between them. Language questions, which can be used by the mathematics teacher or the Czech language teacher to develop pupils' language skills, are also recommende

A composite index to measure sustainability of supply chain management in construction companies

    Get PDF
Companies in the construction sector are increasingly aware of the importance and challenges of sustainability. In recent years, construction companies have introduced some sustainability initiatives and have embraced the concept of sustainability indicators. However, measuring a company’s performance on a wide range of sustainability indicators is challenging. Integration of supply chain sustainability indicators is required. This article presents a methodology for easily consolidating existing supply chain indicators into a single analysis that requires minimal resources. First, the list of 38 sustainability indicators of the supply chain was defined and divided into 7 sustainability groups. The experts were then asked to rank the sustainability groups and the supply chain sustainability indicators within each group according to their importance using the rank sum weighting method. The survey questionnaire was distributed to the respondents via paper or email to 24 academics and top/middle managers of construction companies. Global normalized weights were employed to determine the final indicator rankings. For normalization, target values were suggested for each indicator. Finally, a composite sustainability index for a construction company’s supply chain was developed. The developed composite sustainability index provides a global view of sustainable supply chain management in construction companies, allowing supply chain indicators to be related to their objectives. The developed composite index can be used by supply chain managers in construction companies to assess their organization’s contribution to supply chain sustainability
