About geometric spice 1
Mnoho žáků považuje geometrii za celkem zbytečnou teorii. Nabízíme několik námětù úloh, které mají své kořeny v minulosti a mohly by ukázat prospěnost geometrie v praxi a povzbudit zájem o její využití v našem světě.Many students consider geometry to be a completely useless theory. We offer several ideas for tasks that have their roots in the past and could show the benefits of geometry in practice and encourage interest in its use in our world
Vlákenné struktury pro stínění elektromagnetického záření
This habilitation thesis is a set of published scientific papers or engineering papers supplemented
with a commentary according to §72 paragraph 3 point Act No. 111/1998 Coll. on universities.
In total, the set of scientific paper contains 18 research works published in impact factor journals,
1 conference paper indexed in Scopus database, and 2 utility models. The chosen scientific papers
are mainly focused on the usage of different methods for development of textiles with increased
electrical conductivity and increased electromagnetic shielding ability. They are also devoted
to the properties of these special textiles in connection with their practical use, and options of
designing these special fabrics. Measurement methods of electromagnetic shielding effectiveness
together with the possibilities of electromagnetic shielding modeling are also discussed. At the
end of this thesis is presented a brief description of applications of textiles that are able to shield
electromagnetic field
Managers’ attitudes as a critical success factor of kaizen
The purpose of our study is to examine the manager’s attitudes towards different aspects of kaizen, their commitment to the idea of kaizen, and their attitudes towards the motivation and participation of employees. We use a questionnaire to investigate the attitudes of 124 managers – 62 economists and 62 engineers, from 62 manufacturing companies operating in Serbia. We employ exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and Mann-Whitney’s U test. We find a moderate level of managers’ agreement with the statements on the importance and effects of kaizen, and a relatively low level of agreement with the statements on employees’ participation and motivation. Using the EFA, managers’ attitudes are grouped into three areas requiring attention – perceived kaizen effects, employees’ development and motivation, and employees’ participation. Finally, we find that economists and engineers do not differ in their attitudes towards kaizen, which indicates their similar and common attitudes towards certain aspects of kaizen. We contribute to the literature by examining managers’ attitudes towards the critical success factors of kaizen implementation and identifying the areas requiring more attention from the managers to support the social aspects of kaizen implementation and effects. Our results should change the perceptions of managers and contribute to the development of a new approach that involves more active and effective managers’ participation in the kaizen implementation. Our results can also be beneficial to practitioners seeking to implement and use kaizen more efficiently in their companies. Although our study does not consider the direct impact of a specific economic environment on kaizen implementation, it can be beneficial to companies in emerging and transitioning economies similar to Serbian
The dispute about infinity
Článek pojednává o sporu dvou významných osobností – francouzského matematika, fyzika a filosofa Henriho Poincarého a německého matematika a logika Georga Cantora. The article deals with the dispute of two prominent personalities -- French mathematician, physicist and philosopher Henri Poincaré and German mathematician and logician Georg Cantor. Their dispute was related to set theory created by Cantor, especially the conception of infinity. The actual infinity on which Cantor based his set theory, Poincaré, as well as other representatives of intuitionism, could not accept. Intuitionists relied exclusively on potential infinity. The article introduces the topic by a short introduction of both mathematicians, followed by a brief look at the evolution of understanding infinity. In the next part, the essence of the dispute between Georg Cantor and the intuitionists, represented by Henri Poincaré, is presented
The Wildfang Collection
The thesis deals with the representative display of Fabian Wildfang's mineral collection and making it accessible to the public, which can further develop its potential and educate. It is not based on a specific assignment, but on my own interest in the field. The concerned area is situated in the south-western corner of Germany in the Black Forest region, which is historically important for its mining activity and the mineral collecting associated with it.
The Wildfang collection contains over 1200 specimens and is one of the most important private collections in the world. The basic concept is to divide the exhibition into two buildings. The private part is located in the open area of the collector's garden and functions separately as a private depository with a gallery. The public part is on a plot of land in the city centre and contains a multifunctional space for exhibitions, lectures and workshops. At the request of the city, a small hotel is being conceptually designed together with the public part
