Integration of Building Information Modelling with Geographic Information System for Underground Utility Mapping
The accurate positioning of underground utilities plays a crucial role in managing urban infrastructure, especially in densely populated areas. Traditional 2D CAD drawings often fall short in representing both the depth and precise location of these utilities, which increases the risk of damage during construction and maintenance works. To address this challenge, this study explores the integration of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to improve the mapping of underground utilities and enhance both accuracy and efficiency. The research was conducted at Kuala Terengganu, where data were collected using Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV), Terrestrial Laser Scanning (TLS), Pipe and Cable Locators (PCL), and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR). These datasets were processed in Autodesk Revit and ArcGIS Pro to generate a georeferenced 3D model of the underground network. The findings demonstrate a significant improvement in the accuracy and interoperability of utility data, enabling more effective analysis and visualization of networks. This approach minimizes manual effort, supports safer excavation, and assists urban planners and managers in making well-informed decisions. Spatio-temporal pattern evolution of residents' living space in Suzhou based on POI data
This study identifies the spatio-temporal pattern of urban development based on the POI data of the entire Suzhou area in 2013, 2018 and 2023, analyzes its distribution characteristics and evolution trends, and discusses the main factors influencing the urban spatial pattern of Suzhou, providing an important reference for the optimization of urban space in Suzhou. The research finds that from 2013 to 2023, the living space of residents in Suzhou City has the following characteristics: (1) The interest points as a whole show an agglomeration feature, but there is a diffusive development trend internally; (2) The overall distribution of residents' living Spaces is from northeast to southwest, and the development trend has not undergone significant changes over the past ten years. (3) According to the development center of the living space of Suzhou residents, it first moved to the southwest and then to the southeast, but was concentrated within the central urban area of Suzhou
Assessment of Flood Discharge Variability Due to Land Use Changes in the Konto River Basin with HSS Nakayasu and HEC-HMS Modelling
Flood disasters in watershed regions are highly influenced by changes in land use, which directly affect the hydrological response of a basin. This study assessed the variability of flood discharge in the Konto River Basin, Malang Regency, under different land use conditions using the HSS Nakayasu method and HEC-HMS hydrological modelling. Land use data from multiple years were analyzed to identify conversion patterns from forested and agricultural areas into settlements and other uses. These changes were incorporated into hydrological parameters to simulate peak discharge and runoff characteristics. The results show that land use change significantly increased peak flood discharge and reduced the natural retention capacity of the watershed. The HSS Nakayasu method provided an empirical estimation of hydrograph response, while HEC-HMS simulations offered a more detailed analysis of rainfall-runoff processes. Both methods confirmed a rising trend in flood discharge associated with land conversion, with HEC-HMS yielding higher accuracy in reflecting observed hydrological conditions. This research highlights the critical role of sustainable land use planning in mitigating flood risks and provides valuable insights for watershed management strategies
The effect of red onion bulb extract concentration as a growth regulator on the growth of
Cattleya orchids are one of the most popular types of ornamental orchids due to their beautiful flowers and economic value. Tissue culture is an in vitro plant propagation technique that uses sterile artificial media to produce large quantities of uniform, disease-free seedlings. Red onion bulb extract contains plant growth hormones such as auxin, gibberellin, and vitamin Bl, which play a crucial role in stimulating plant growth, particularly root formation and tissue mass increase. This study aims to investigate the effect of red onion bulb extract concentration as a plant growth regulator (PGR) on the in vitro growth of Cattleya orchid plantlets. The method used was a Randomized Block Design with treatments of red onion extract at concentrations of control, 50, 75, 100 g/L, along with a control using MS % medium, each repeated six times. The parameters observed included increases in plantlets height and fresh weight during culture. The results showed that red onion extract significantly influenced plantlets growth, with the l00 g/L concentration yielding the highest increase in fresh weight (0.123 g). These findings indicate the potential of red onion extract as an effective plant growth regulator for Cattleya orchid tissue culture
Optimizing Farmland Landscapes for Agri-Tourism Integration in Lingnan Rural Revitalization: A Case Study of Naliu Village, China
As rural tourism gains momentum amid rising living standards and growing health awareness, the integration of agriculture and tourism has become a key strategy for promoting rural revitalization. Farmland landscapes, traditionally focused on agricultural production, are increasingly evolving into multifunctional systems that encompass ecological, cultural, recreational, and educational roles. However, current farmland landscapes often suffer from limited functionality, weak cultural expression, and poor visitor experience, which restrict their tourism appeal and multi-dimensional value. This study adopts a qualitative research approach to explore the optimization of farmland landscapes from a visitor-centered perspective. Using Naliu Village in Zhanjiang, Guangdong Province as a case study, the research integrates Maslow’s hierarchy of needs and landscape preference theory. Methods include photo-elicited interviews and thematic analysis, forming a four-stage framework: preference expression, needs categorization, function translation, and strategic recommendation. Expert interviews supplement the study with insights on functional planning, cultural representation, and implementation feasibility. Findings reveal that visitors prefer landscape features that are aesthetic, interactive, and culturally expressive, corresponding to different levels of psychological needs. Cultural identity is a key motivator for engagement and loyalty, while basic infrastructure influences initial accessibility. The study proposes a “multi-level preference–needs response” framework to guide the design of layered and participatory farmland spaces. It highlights four value dimensions—basic provision, cultural identity, participatory interaction, and emotional attachment — as crucial for enhancing visitor experience and realizing synergies between ecological conservation, tourism development, and cultural continuity. The study offers theoretical contributions to landscape perception research and practical guidance for designers, tourism operators, and rural planners involved in farmland landscape enhancement
Typhoon Compound Disaster Risk Assessment and Coping Strategies for Haikou City
This study takes Haikou, a typical tropical coastal city, as its research object. Using the H-E-V framework and multi-source geospatial data, it assesses typhoon compound disaster risks. Results show significant spatial differentiation, with an overall “high along coast, low inland” pattern. Based on the assessment, spatial planning strategies are proposed across macro, meso, and micro levels to inform disaster prevention and climate-adaptive governance for high-density coastal cities
Beyond Transactions: Mobilizing Digital Banking Communication for Environmental Awareness
In the digital era, individuals are learning more and more about digital banking as a way to handle money and a way to modify how individuals respond in social and environmental conditions. Because climate change is becoming a bigger problem and people want to live more sustainably, banks are expected to go beyond just showing they care about corporate social responsibility (CSR) and start utilizing incorporated sustainability strategies. This study examines the incorporation of environmental communication via blu by BCA Digital, a digital-native Indonesian bank, through its interdisciplinary engagement with the waste management platform Rekosistem. Using framing theory and strategic sustainable communication, a qualitative content analysis was done on 47 communication materials that came out between 2022 and 2024. These materials included Instagram posts, app notifications, press releases, promotional presentations, and internal reports. The findings reveal three communication strategies: (1) behavioral framing that links waste sorting to financial incentives via Rekopoint, (2) the integration of sustainability into the digital product ecosystem, exemplified by blUnion, and (3) participatory storytelling that engages individuals emotionally. These tactics make environmental messages look like they belong, don’t annoy people, and are vital to them. The work contributes to the literature on green fintech and participatory CSR by demonstrating the incorporation of environmental narratives into standard financial transactions, enabling a shift from symbolic CSR to concrete behavioral transformation. In practice, it allows banks and other financial institutions a method to talk to one other about how to grow their businesses while also taking care of the environment in the digital age
From Pixels to Profits: The Digital Transformation of Indonesia’s FMCG Industry
This study examines the relationship between digital adoption and firm efficiency in the Indonesian FMCG sector. Using operating profit margin data from 31 companies for the period 2019 to 2023, the study assesses whether the use of digital technologies is associated with changes in firm efficiency. The data are drawn from companies annual reports, with the frequency of the word digital used as a straightforward measure of digital adoption. The regression results indicate a positive relationship between digital adoption and firm efficiency, although the effect remains still not much, the accounting for around 6 percent of the variation in operating profit margin. In practical terms a one unit increase in digital adoption is associated with an increase of approximately 0.165 units in firm efficiency. Because of tehse finding, the results suggest that while digital adoption is linked to efficiency improvements it does not fully explain differences in firm performance. Efficiency in the FMCG sector appears to be shaped by a combination of operational, managerial, and external factors, with digital initiatives acting more as a supporting element rather than the main driver
From privatization to a governance predicament: A systematic review of jakarta’s water governance, business models, and sustainability
Jakarta, one of the world’s fastest-sinking megacities, faces a multidimensional water crisis that poses an existential threat to its sustainability. This crisis stems from the historical legacy of a two-decade Public-Private Partnership (PPP) initiated in 1998, which evolved from a privatization model into a complex predicament of environmental degradation and social injustice. This study employs a systematic literature review to synthesize the academic evidence, tracing the evolution of challenges and proposed solutions over time. The synthesis reveals a cascading failure best understood through an Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) lens. Initial Governance failures, rooted in flawed contractual design, metastasized into severe Environmental crises (land subsidence) and a profound Social crisis of “water equity,” disproportionately burdening the urban poor. The review concludes that Jakarta’s water crisis is fundamentally a crisis of governance, not infrastructure or affordability. Therefore, the only viable path forward is a new sustainable business model for the public utility focused on re-establishing robust governance and rebuilding public trust, which is critical for achieving water security
