    Analyze of Etawas milk goat quality sterilized at the Different Temperature and TimeABSTRACT. The objective of this experiment is to study the quality of sterilization of etawas goat milk at different temperature (110oC and 120oC) and different time (3 second and 6 second). The quality of sterilization of etawas goat milk was evaluated by measuring crude protein, crude fat, pH value and amount of microorganism. The study used a factorial completely randomizes design. The result showed that the different temperature and time of sterilized goat milk have not significant (P0,05) on crude protein, crude fat, pH value and amount of microorganism. The result also showed that no interaction between temperature and time. The conclusion of the research indicated that all the experiment have the same quality

    polymorphism of blood protein pegagan duck by PAGE methodABSTRACT. Pegagan duck is one of local duck species which comes from Ogan Ilir (OI) Regency, South Sumatera. This species is not popular, yet. But, it has spread out along Ogan river which comprises of three districts e.g Tanjung Raja, Inderalaya and Pemulutan. The ecosystem in this three districts is dominated by swampy area. As far, there is relatively limited information of Pegagan duck compared to another local duck. So, for the first step was done a reseach to identify genetic characteristic from blood protein analyses by electrophoresis method. It is expected that this information will become the bases in determining of the policy of Pegagan duck development. Polymorphism analyses of blood protein was done with 9 duck samples which taken randomly from 400 pegagan ducks. Protein locus observed were albumin (Alb), post albumin (Pa), transferrine (Tf), post transferrine-1 (Ptf-1), and post transferrine-2 (Ptf-2). Polymorphism analyses of blood protein of pegagan duck was characterized by allele A in locus Transferrine (TfA), Post transferrine-1 (Ptf-1A) and Post transferrine-2 (Ptf-2A) . Genetic diversity based on blood protein of Pegagan duck showed that gen frequency value in a range of 0,11 0,94 and high heterozygosis value that was 0,62 %

    The analysis of profitability, comparative advantage, competitive advantage and import policy impact on beef cattle fattening in west javaABSTRACT. The beef cattle fattening in Indonesia is financially and economically beneficial, even though the production process is in an economical condition with various trading policies with others countries. Those including the policies of import tarrif and quota on input that are aimed to have a more expensive price of import input, hence giving the chance for domestic input to compete. These will be an advantage for domestic feedloter, however the result of governmental policy are often far from expectation. Research conducted in West Java. This research used the survey method, with multistage random sampling and analyzed by using the Policy Analysis Matrix model to measure the efficiency of the business performance of beef cattle fattening. Result of the research shows that beef cattle fattening reached financial and economical benefits. Feedloters of local and imported cows in west Java has competitive advantage, local cows is more competitive than imported cows. Meanwhile efficiency indicator shows that feedloters of imported cows has more comparative advantage compared to the feedloters of local cow

    Products of rumen fermentation and protein microbial of dairy cattle feed with rice bran ammonization and some feedstuffs as an energy sourcesABSTRACT. This study aims to examine the energy sources of feed ingredients that can increase the production of Volatile Fatty Acids (VFA), N-NH3, microbial protein synthesis, total gas production and metabolic energy. The material used is as a source of rumen fluid inoculum from Frisian Holstein cows (FH) females, amoniasi rice straw, salt, mineral mix brand "Ultra Minerals' production Eka Farma Semarang, onggok wet and dry, corn, and rice bran. Observed variable is the concentration of (VFA), N-NH3, rumen microbial protein synthesis, and total gas production. Based on the analysis of diversity seen any significant effect (P0.05) on total VFA concentration, N-NH3 and total gas but had no effect (P0.05) on microbial protein synthesis.     Prediction for carcass weight and conformation of local goat by slaughter weight predictor using some regression modelsABSTRACT. The goat population of Indonesia is concentrated in Central Java province especially under smallholder farming areas, and mostly their function is the production of meat. Local breed (Jawa Randu and Peranakan Etawah Crossbred) are very common raised by samallholders in Banyumas areas. The local kids are raised with their mothers and slaughtered after post weaning (68 months old). Carcass characteristics are important criteria for consumers and it could be taking into account. The objective of this study was to estimate the carcass weight and conformation of local goat by predictor of slaughter weight using some regression models. Eighty male of local goats (Peranakan Etawah and Jawa Randu crossbred), body weight ranged from 10-23.5 kg (6-8 months of age) resulted from village production system were used in this study. Carcass weight, dressing percentage, and carcass conformation were recorded. Ten models of estimation curve procedure were applied in terms of linear and nonlinear regression models. The analysis display relation between slaughter weight (X) and carcass weight and conformation (Y). The higher of determination coefficient (r2) and the lowest of the standard error means (M.SE) was found in the power regression model. Carcass weight of local goat (Y) could be effectively assessed by slaughter weight (X) using power regression model Y= 0.593907 (X 0,893021 ) or ln (Y) = ln (0.593907) + 0,893021 ln(X); and conformation carcass (Y) could be effectively predicted by slaughter weight (X) using power regression model Y= 14.995466 (X 0,267867 ) or ln (Y) = ln (14.995466) + 0,267867 ln (X)

    Analysis of livestock estate of village breeding centre (VBC) and village fattening centre (VFC) for beef cattle based on local resources to support national program of cattle meat self-sufficiencyABSTRACT. The main focus of this study were (1) documenting the profile of livestock estate of Village Breeding Centre (VBC) and Village Fattening Centre (VFC) for beef cattle under local resources base, (2) documenting the profile of local resources in terms of the potential of individual farmer and group dynamic, (3) documenting the degree of livestock estate consist of: elementary, middle and advance. Livestock On-Farm Trials was conducted by survey on Village Breeding Centre and Village Fattening Centre. 81 VBC and VFC located at 5 regencies in Central Java (Cilacap, Banyumas, Purbalingga, Banjarnegara, and Kebumen) were involved in this study. Qualitative and quantitative descriptive statistics were applied in this study. Conclusions remark of this study: (1) The profile of livestock estate for breeding were dominated by secondary grade (92%), followed by elementary (4%) and advance (4%) grades. The profile of livestock estate for fattening better than breeding estate, the grade of livestock estate for breeding was advance (18%) and secondary (82%) and no elementary grade.; (2) The potencial of individual farmer under midle grade (77%) and high grade (23%). These good conditions are really support for developing breeding and fattening beef calte estate; (3) The poteny of group farmer institution comprise of the potency of social resources and group dynamic. The potency of social resources was dominated (85%) by high grade, followed by midle grade (15%). The good condition of social resources potency are really support livestock esate development, unfortunalty this condition unsupported by group dynamic where they are tend to be statis and decline (76%); (4) Based on the development process, beef cattle estate consists of three categories: elementary, secondary, and advance degree. Only 4% of elementary degree was found at beef cattle breeding. Mostly, they are under condition of secondary grade (92% at breeding centre, and 82% at fattening centre). The advance grade was found in small number (at breeding and fattening centre were 4 and 18%, respectively)

    The effect of different water spraying level and storage period on endurance of pellet broiler finisherABSTRACT. The storage is very important in a farm management, because this activity can take care of feed stability which enough and preferable to be consumed by animal and also strive for animal food availability continuously. The purpose of this research is to know the water spraying level and variation of storage period against the endurance of pellet broiler finisher ration. This research was designed by a Completely Randomized Design Factorial with two factors (water spraying different level and storage period) with four replicates, the significant result were analyzed by orthogonal contras test. On this experiment, the different level of water spraying (0, 3, 6%) were conducted during mixing at conditioning process, and then the ration were stored until four weeks to study the endurance of pellet e.g.: water content (%), water activity, specific gravity (ton/m3), pellet durability index (%), attack of insect. The water content, specific gravity, and pellet durability index was very significantly (P0.01) reduce by water spraying different level, and not significantly on water activity. The storage period showed very significantly (P0.01) increase the specific gravity, pellet durability index, and the insect attacks, and significantly (P0.01) decreased the water activity, but not effect on water content. Interaction among spraying level and storage period is very significantly (P0.01) on the values of water content, water activity, specific gravity and pellet durability

    Cholesterol and omega-9 fatty acid eggs yolks affected by mantis crustacean (squilla empusa) fermentation as a fish meal substitution in the diet of layer.ABSTRACT. The experiment was conducted to determine the effect of Squilla empusa fermentation as fish meal substitute in diet layer on cholesterol and omega-9 fatty acid yolk eggs. This research was conducted by completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatment and 5 replications. The treatments are P0 = 0% fermented Squilla empusa + 15% fish meal; P1 = 5% fermented Squilla empusa + 10% fish meal; P2 = 10% fermented Squilla empusa + 15% fish meal; and P3 = 15% fermented Squilla empusa + 0% fish meal. Cholesterol, Omega-9 fatty acid yolk eggs responding variables measured. The results of this study shows that the yolk cholesterol and omega - 9 was non significant (P0.05). Average of yolk cholesterol (ppm) and omega - 9 (gram) for P0; P1; P2; and P3 were 7.622; 9.200; 9.198; and 9.442; and omega 9 fatty acid yolk (%) were 18.404; 17.520; 19.230 and 19.456 respectively. Conclusion of this study (i) there are possibility using fermented Squilla empusa until 15% as fish meal substitute in diet of layers, (ii) there are good effect on eggs quality in term of cholesterol and Omega 9 fatty yolk

    The proximate analysis of ammoniated rice straw added with rumen contentABSTRACT. A study about proximate analysis on ammoniated rice straw that added with rumen content was conducted at Agricultural Faculty, Syiah Kuala University. Field research was done at Experimental Farm Animal Husbandry Department, followed by proximate analysis done in the Animal Feed Laboratory. Factorial completely randomizes design with four replications was applied in this research. Storage time (4 Level) was the first factor analyzed, and the second one was the rumen content level (4 level). Analysis of variance was used to determine the differences among treatments. When it occurred, it followed by working on the Duncan Multiple Test to find the difference of each treatment. Data record were taken from the percentages of dry matter, crude fiber, crude protein, crude lipid, and ash. Rice straw and rumen content were analyzed before treatments were applied. The study result indicated that the storage times of ammoniated rice straw that were given rumen content decreased the percentage of crude fiber and dry matter in highly significant different (P0.01). On the other hand, the percentage of ash and crude protein were increased also in highly significant difference (P0.01). Meanwhile, the percentage of crude lipid due to both storage time and rumen content added factors showed highly significant different (P0.01). The storage time up to fourth week, and adding of 25 % rumen content to ammoniated rice straw, can increase it nutritive value. It was concluded that generally the quality of product resulted from this research was very good. Therefore it is acceptable to provide to animals

    Increasing of antibody titre against avian influenza in serum of vaccinated laying hens with commercial vaccineABSTRACT. The advantages of vaccination are that it reduces the risk of infection, and concurrently reduces morbidity, mortality and shedding of virus. The goal of the present study was to evaluate efficacy of Avian Influenza commercial vaccine based on humoral immunity responses of laying hens. Totally, 20 breakel silver layer hens were used in this research. The laying hens were vaccinated using Avian Influenza commercial vaccine (H5N1). Blood samples were collected from the axilaris vein (left or rigt) one time at prevaccination and repeated three times with an interval of one month at postvaccination. Antibody titres were examined using Hemaglutination Inhibition (HI). The result showed that Avian Influenza commercial vaccine (H5N1) was a good protection because the vaccine was able to trigger protective humoral immunity of laying hens indicated by increasing of antibody titre in serum of vaccinated laying hens during three months
