    Get PDF
We implemented Active Learning (AL) focused on Interprofessional Education (IPE) to learn about care management in a care management education class. It was one of the elective classes in the Faculty of Health and Welfare at the Prefectural University of Hiroshima. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of AL for IPE. We analyzed it from the results of students’ self-evaluations. Fifteen students participated in the class and were divided into groups of three. Each group discussed a model case in order to make a care plan for the case and presented their care plans in the class. After the presentations, students answered a questionnaire which was comprised of ten items with a seven-grade scale and open answer sections. The results indicated that students actively prepared for a group discussion and learned about some new viewpoints from other professional students. Furthermore, it was suggested that the effectiveness of AL correlates with students’ positive attitude in the group discussion. These results suggest that AL is effective in recognizing the importance of IPE.資料departmental bulletin pape

A trial of transfer education for dementia care staff using assistive devices -- Effects of care burden and recognition --

The purpose of this study was to discuss effects of transfer education on care burden and recognition of care staff in a dementia treatment ward. Participants were nine nurses and ten care workers. A questionnaire and interview were used to identify intervention effects. We educated them regarding some transfer skills and the importance of reducing physical burdens using some assistive devices. The results indicated that a lot of care staff felt a large burden, but the intervention could not decrease their care burden due to lack of time and man power, mismatch with assistive devices and room environment, psychological resistance, difference of recognition during care staff, and diffi culty of using patient residual ability. In recognition aspect, participants' self-effi cacy on using assistive devices seemed be enhanced. We found that the following is important to decrease care burden: offering opportunity to learn transfer care skills, adjusting care times and content in the ward, and preparing the working environment so that care staff can easily use care skills suited to their own ability.

We studied how the occupation-based environment approach effects the behavior and condition of clients with dementia in a dementia treatment ward. Three female clients were selected as research subjects. We identifi ed fl ower arrangement as their meaningful occupation, and did two sessions with them. The imitation fl owers made by clients were set on the veranda of the ward. Some sofas were set near the window to allow clients to view these fl owers. We recorded clients' behavior, condition, and conversation content every fi ve minutes for fi ve hours before and after the environmental improvement. The results indicated that changing the environment to engage in meaningful occupation facilitated interactions among clients and improved clients' psychological condition for short period (two days), but there was no effect of interaction lasting for a long period (such as two months). We found that if you want clients to engage in meaningful occupation on a daily basis, you need to put meaningful occupation near clients or make regular activities regarding their occupation.報告departmental bulletin pape
